Modified to make oven safe

I was trying to find one of these that would fit in a small cast iron skillet (6 ½ Inch) and was oven safe. This is the closest I could find – right size but a wooden handle. I removed the handle (2 screws) and drilled out the holes to fit a 3/8 inch x 5 inch stainless bolt/nut (don't use cadmium coated or zinc plated). 5¼ would have been better, but I used what I had. This allowed me to add a spring handle. This one worked without having to trim it: Amazon.com : LavaLock 4-1/2" Steel BBQ Spring Handle Grill Wood Stove Furnace Smoker 3/8 inch Rod I use this in the oven to cook a couple of slices of bacon (cut in half) or a single burger. I use a larger version (Lodge LFIP3 Lodge Flat Iron Grill Press) to fit in my full size cast iron skillet or dutch oven. This smaller on is nice for a smaller serving, mostly because the whole thing is so much lighter. As a side benefit it cuts about 5 minutes off the cook time. Note: I generally start in a cold oven with the food in the skillet so it just comes to temp faster. I would have rated this 5 stars if it was oven safe from the start. Note: I used a stainless bolt because heating up a cadmium or galvanized coated bolt in the oven with food is a food safety issue. Plain carbon steel would also be OK.

Just What I Needed!

Finally found out this is what restaurants use to keep bacon flat. I'm grilling for a crowd and this large press is perfect. Had been using a round cast iron pan. This square unit does a much better job. I also keep several trivets close by for hot pans - as well as this press. Very useful addition to my outside kitchen.

My husband and I each bought him this!

I thought this would make a fun birthday surprise for my husband, but the day before it arrived, the one he’d ordered for himself came! So - he got to send his back. I was happy to know the features that sounded good to me were what he liked the sound of, too. And we were right! This thing has been great to develop his cast iron cooking skills. Smash burgers are officially a favorite dinner in our house and now so easy to make!

The size is great

The size of this is amazing sit it down and your done, there is no need to move it to different areas because it will cover it all at once. It holds up very well and super easy to clean up when your done. I can’t stop using it now and wish I bought one along time ago. Works great for bacon covers the whole strip, burgers, sausage patties, chicken breast, even pork chops. After it’s hot it helps give you them beautiful grill marks even when cooking in a griddle. This is a highly recommended item I must say and your not going to be disappointed.

Great burger ???? press. Before I made good burgers ????, now I make great burgers....the best burgers in Tampa. The ladies really like my meat.

Has an issue.

One corner of this one looked like it had broken off and was repaired. It may just be a poor cast on this one. I put it right on the burner on a gas stove and heated it and no crack appeared so I think it is a casting flaw. Time will tell. I did use it frying bacon and sausage in a large square pan and it worked really well.

Works well!

Does the job and stops us from burning our hands in the sides of the pans while trying to squish the burgers with a spatula. Very sturdy and heavy.

Great value for price

Very good product at a great price. Looked at different options and even just buying a good strong spatula was not much cheaper than this kit and everything is well made. Great option for anyone looking for something to help with smashing your smash burgers

Great timeless press

This burger press is legit. Some people are stating that their press has a lip, maybe this was a prior design back in 2021, but I can confirm in 2023 that the press design is completely flat. It consists of the flat cast iron press and a wooden handle. Nothing much to say other than to confirm that the burger press is very good and will definitely outlast you.

Every thing together!

The spatula is a good weight, I’d actually like the cast iron presser to be flatter or without a ridge. But overall great weight to every item.

It's an amazing tool to have

After watching videos on how to make smash burgers at home, I decided to buy the tool and do it at home. I came across this with one of the highest ratings so I decided to give it a go. I was not disappoint by how good and sturdy the build of this tool is. I have ready made some burgers at home and they came out delish. I'll definitely be making more in the near future
