My turtles love it

I really recommend above-water basking docks. Some added benefits I saw in my turtle are more room to swim, a bigger area to bask in, a "window" to the outside, and more comfort to me! I have been using this product about a year now, and I really like it. This product specifically I find way overpriced, but it is really the only one on the market as far as above water basking docks go. I have now bought two, and let me tell you, it is a pain to assemble! Don't even bother with the little swing at the bottom of it. It fell off for me and my turtles were too heavy for it anyway. Also, there is a learning curve with your turtles on climbing it. I find it is too steep and you have to raise the water level very high for them to get up. Because of the added water level of this product, both of my turtles, in 2 separate tanks, have both escaped once each. This was never an issue before I got this product. So, please learn from my mistake and make sure you cover the top if you're adding to the water level!!! Thankfully, my turtles were both safe but it was very very scary. But, I probably will never stop using this product unless it falls apart or something better comes on the market because I ADORE how cute my turtles look when they're looking over the side at you while basking. I found my turtles are a lot more comfortable when I take them out the tanks, and I really think they enjoy looking around the room when they're at the top of their basking platform looking out the clear plastic. Again, I wish the ramp wasn't as steep and it wasn't so costly, but I do think this is better than a lot of the in-tank basking platforms. I have used a lot of in-tank basking platforms and this one has stayed the longest. My turtles have outgrown all the floating ones because of their weight, and this one is very supportive and spacious I find. I don't think this is a forever-basking platform but I think this is the best one on the market and if I ever decide to upgrade I'll just have to build one myself. That being said, if I ever got another tank I would most likely get another one of these. Above-ground basking platforms gave my turtles a safe and sturdy way to explore the world (definitely don't let them explore out the tank like mine tried to tho!!!! For real, get a good lid!!!!!). If are able to, I definitely recommend building one instead but please make sure it is sturdy. Better safe than sorry, always! Even if it means buying a $50 piece of plastic. (But hey, plastic is super easy to clean!)

Turtle Used On Day 2

Turtle wouldn't use for the first day or two, but now seems to like it. It does give more space for water in the tank. Had to purchase the extension clips for my tank. Would be nice if those were just included. One thing I noticed is that the minimum water line is about halfway about the ramp. This means that I had to raise my water filter higher so I could reach the minimum line. I do wish the ramp was made of a softer material. I do like that the cover is open and covered with a grate that does affect the basking light and makes it easy to add water to the tank.

Our Turtle loves it

We upgrading our turtle's tank and he loves this addition. He spends so much time in it. He's able to climb in easily and he hangs outs under his uv light.

Not bad at all

Ramps alittle steep but only downside in my opinion keeping the water level up fixed this issue took 3 days for my slider to use it but he loves it now

Product itself is good but could use some tweaking

First one ordered was a disappointment. It's like buying it from a thrift store. No original box. All the pieces were thrown into an Amazon box. There was no manual or instructions and it was missing a side piece to keep the ramp in place. I would have made do with this unit if all the parts were there as it seems well made. Unfortunately, it was useless if I couldn't keep the ramp level. The replacement I received was the way it should have been the first time around with the manufacturer original box, a manual and everything neatly packaged inside. All parts were there. All parts seem sturdy and well made. It took some force to snap the ramp to the floor unit portion but once in I knew that it would stay in place. There are additional side supports for the ramp. My tank is a 29 gallon tank and the whole unit rested perfectly on top. I had a couple issues with this product and needed to make adjustments. The first was the ramp. It seemed to be hard for my red eared sliders to climb up on it. I have two of them (4 inch and 3 inch). As some others mentioned, the ramp may be too steep. It seemed that way in my case. I'm not sure if the water level had much impact on the ability for the turtles to climb. Also wondering if traction was an issue. I resolved my ramp issue by first extending it. I got the lid of those Hillshire Ham containers and cut it to size I wanted and then used hot glue gun to attach it. Then getting a shelf liner from 99 cent store. It's like the waffle, rubbery or foamy type and I guess waterproof. I just hot glue gunned the liner just above the side support of the ramp. After doing this my turtles are able to climb up nicely. My 4 inch one does it seamlessly. My 3 inch turtle seems to just wanna hang out on the ramp to bask. I don't know if it just wants to remain close to the water. My second issue is getting my basking lamp at the proper height. So the clamp attaches fine to the side on the cover but my lamp doesn't tilt down enough to get the right angle. So I went to Home Depot and bought an egg crate lighting panel /Louvre. One panel and I had plenty left over. I cut three pieces. Two for the bottom support and one for the top. I cut it wide enough to extend beyond the side supports. Used the hot glue gun again to attach all three pieces. It worked perfectly. There's plenty of room. I also added some of the shelf liner to the basking area. I wasn't sure if the plastic was getting too hot for my turtles as they weren't wanting to bask initially. So just to be sure I added the liner which doesn't seem to be affected by the heat. It is also soft so I thought my turtles would enjoy that better. Despite the hassle of getting a dud on the first go, I'm very satisfied after my modifications. It should last as long as my turtles do.

Great idea

Everything about this product is great EXCEPT the entry ramp! The water level in the tank would need to be completely full to reach the water level marking on the ramp. But we all know that water levels in a turtle tank can not be completely full or the main character would escape. Thankfully we kept our floating dock we used previously and we were able rig it with some zip ties to extend the ramp. We filled the tank a bit higher than we wanted but even with our addition it is still a hard climb because it’s very slippery.

ramp is too short

bought this for my 29 gallon aquarium. fits just right at the top but the ramp is too short. would have been perfect if the ramp was longer.

excellent - the best platfom for a large turtle

we have 2 turtles in our tank, we tried various platforms anything in the tank got knocked off its base or off the glass suction cups =no matter what we did - our large turtle is a reeves turtle and is now about 6.5 to 7 inches long. it took a few days but once he got used to this he loved it. Maintain a good water level and with no support he climbs out several times each day. also the platform underneath is great for turtles to rest on when swimming. you need to cheek the dimensions the platform covers as if your tank is too wide it wont fit. However it will fit tanks slightly narrower as it has suction cups. Also account for any protective trim plastic on top of your tank as the under platform needs to fit under that.

This is a brilliant product, and the only one I think works ...

This is a brilliant product, and the only one I think works for fully grown turtles, as its totally sturdy and takes their weight with ease. It took them a while to learn how to use the first one I bought (I now have three) but once mastered, they love it too, and bask there for hours every day under their clamp lamp (bought separately). The last one I bought came from Amazon US and was here in less than a week, with great service from the seller. Excellent product.

Arrived on time and as described

It looks great, our turtles have used the shelf underneath but it's only day one so not expecting them to instantly climb the ramp. They are too busy exploring the extra space in their tank first. I had to adjust the sides a bit to make it fit our tank but it fits well and feels solid.
