Why didn't I but this year's ago?
Hadt made watering the lawn so much easier. I have had no issues with it jumping the track or failing to turn off when it hits the stop ramp. It works for me on a expandable hose. So happy with this purchase.

Better than Expected
Much sturdier than I expected, but definitely in line with the price. I actually use this with 300' of hose, which is more than recommended. It seems like water pressure is what matters most here as far as hose length.

Perfect for large yard
Perfect for my large yard. I use this to water my front yard 1/2 acre and it works perfectly. I love the way it stops and shuts itself down.

I got one of these to replace a broken more expensive brand model
I got this some time ago to replace a broken more expensive brand model. This has worked perfect for some time. Sure saves me from having to move sprinklers

Slow speed or low water pressure? READ THIS!
The media could not be loaded. I used the sprinkler twice and it took more than 3 hours to run 100 ft. My lawn was soaked and muddy. I believe my water pressure is not as high as recommended. Simple solution: The sprinkler moves according to the helices speed. The faster they turn the fast the wheels turn. I simply blocked one of helices, so the pressure on the other increased. Consequently the travel speed also increased and my lawn was not soaked anymore. All you have to do is cut a small piece of plastic (photo) and use it to block the water influx to one of the helices. I blocked by putting it where the helice attach to the tractor, then firmly screwing the black plastic piece. Hope it helps.

Watch out for the auto-shut-off ramp.
The product is generally good. Why do you want to buy a traveling sprinkler? Because you lay your garden hose down all around your yard which becomes the path the sprinkler will follow - it will travel along this path and water your entire garden/yard - no manual and multiple changing of sprinkler positions required - this will save you tons of time. But there are 2 major considerations with this particular sprinkler you must be aware of: 1. plastic gears 2. questionable effectiveness of auto-shut-off ramp I've only been using it for 2 weeks now so can't say much about durability. This is not my first time using this type of sprinkler - I had one about 12 years ago that was excellent - very heavy, solid metal and had metal gears. The metal gears added to the weight of the product but weight is not a down-side with this type of sprinkler because it makes the sprinkler more stable as it travels across your yard and the metal gears give it maximum durability. I had to sell my old sprinkler because of a long stint out of the country, unfortunately. Having the need to buy one again, I tried to find sprinklers with metal gears but couldn't find any so went with this one, which seemed like the best of all the options I read about. Now on to the issues. This sprinkler has plastic gears. This could be a problem and something I do worry about especially given that to replace the gears, if (when?) they go bad, probably will cost you just as much as buying a brand new sprinkler. The plastic gears do make the sprinkler lighter but as I said above, you should not be worried about weight at all; in fact, greater weight is good. Plastic gears can be worn down far more quickly than metal gears. The 2nd issue with this sprinkler is the auto-shut-off ramp - it's literally a ramp that the sprinkler travels over which then triggers an off switch underneath the sprinkler. This is a very important feature because you want to be able to just set the sprinkler, go out on the town and come back home to find your entire lawn watered and the sprinkler sitting in your yard, turned off and ready to be brought inside. If the ramp doesn't work, there's no telling what can happen. For sure the water will keep running but worse, the sprinkler might run into a fence or a wall or fall into a ditch. In any of these cases, unless the sprinkler arms get stopped from spinning by the obstruction, the sprinkler will keep trying move forward which will strip the plastic gears. So far, my success with the ramp has not been very good (I have a ½" hose; a larger diameter hose will get you better ramp results but there is a maximum diameter the ramp supports (⅝") - check your hose size before buying). But, I did observe carefully the operation and think now I've got the hang of it - you have to make sure the hose leading up to the ramp is perfectly straight for at least 5' to 10' and perfectly straight on the other side of the ramp for about 5'. Also, the ramp must be perfectly in line with the path of the hose. If the ramp is even a little but angled, the springier will jump off the ramp, the auto-shut-off will never be engaged and you might get stripped gears if it runs into a wall or something else. When I first started using the sprinkler, I was getting 0% success rate with the ramp. Now I'm up to probably 90% after the changes I described above. But despite this, I don't think you will get 100% reliability with the ramp - it really needs to be redesigned to ensure the sprinkler can never jump off.

like it
I got this for my garden, however had not had a chance to use it, not because of a problem with it, my grand kid took the sprinkler tubes and hid them and have yet to find them, however it is touch enough to handle him (4 year old) playing with it and still shows no sign of damage

Works great on new sod
Set it and ALMOST forget about it.. Slow mode on transmission and it takes about 3 hours to travel 100-120 feet. Does a great job ! Have used for 4 days (Almost 8 hrs non stop) straight on almost 1/2 acre. So far, they have held up to the usage.

Does work as advertised.
This product will and does work exactly as advertised. Speed and distance is dependent on your water pressure! Anyone that trys to water a newly seeded dirt lawn needs to re-evaluate their IQ! After reading the bad reviews, I realize how many idiots there is out there. It is designed to water a horter or cut lawn, not a bush, use common sense. Do not be afraid to order this product. It is amazing, very sturdy and good value. Our lawn is 145' deep and 85' wide. Qwe have had it for over a year now and all areas can be reached easily, watered properly and efficiently. Learn to to operate what you purchase, before writing a bad review!

Works As Advertised But Moves Too Slow
The sprinkler has two speed settings: high and low. In high gear it travels about 39 feet per hour and in low gear about 27 feet per hour. For a large yard that is 160' long I have to let this run for about 3-4 hours before it completes the line. Since my yard is wide it would need to do 3 lines. This means I need to leave the water on for 9-12 hours to complete the watering. That is too inefficient and my water bill would be exorbitant. Aside from the slow speed, the sprinkler is built well and works as advertised.

Definitely not "set-and-forget"
Needs constant babysitting as it runs into problem after problem. Cheaply made plastic parts don't justify the price tag on what could have been a good unit. One wheel had a chunk broken out of it on arrival, but the unit still did okay for a short time. As soon as it goes forward a few feet, though, the ground that it watered is soft, and it sinks and starts chewing it up. I definitely wouldn't recommend ever using this on newly-seeded lawns. Update: after using this garbage for over a year now, it's clear that it's more effective to get a standard sprinkler and move it every half hour. It needs to be adjusted about that frequently anyway, so there's no sense in wasting money on this nonsense.

Works pretty good
My water pressure isn't so high, I like that this just moves along at its own pace and does a good job saturating the things. It generally stops correctly unless: I tried to go to far (say 300 feet), the hose gets too heavy and it starts to spin wheels. Fair and makes sense. Or I have it climbing too steep. I find it works best of I sort of loop back and forth over the run and not a straight line. Seems to make the hose overlap a bit and is easier to pull? Not sure.. But it's working. I like it. It does the job of 3 sprinklers for me. I just need 3 more or these now.

The Travelling Sprinkler is too slow and gets stuck
We were pretty excited - a moving lawn sprinkler! That's a great idea. Unfortuneately it didn't work as advertised. It got stuck often - in small depressions, on corners, if the grass was slightly long, trying to get past hose connections. To beat that one, I cut off the brass hose connectors and installed Gardena connectors. There's a major disconnect in the specs. The Amazon.ca page states the limit of travel is "15-feet to 55-foot maximum coverage". Amazon.com says the limit is "13,500 square feet along 200 feet of hose." The manual says 200' at 37' per hour in high speed. The fastest we got was 15' per hour. It was like watching paint dry. We were using about 100' of hose. Maybe if we went with 50' but that's not what the manual says. In the end, we went back to moving the sprinkler every 20 minutes and watered the lawn in about 2 hours, not 8 hours.
