Makes for a neat manifold installation
I used this along with the Orbit 4-Valve Manifold and it worked well. All the needed cut outs are there so super easy to use. One word of advice though, if you are using an NDS valve box it does not fit perfectly, but there is enough clearance that it is still okay. I imagine an Orbit valve box would fit better.

Orbit's Valve Box Base is a Great Addition
I ordered this via Amazon Prime and got it within 2 days, so as usual Amazon Prime rocks. I originally was using 4 bricks to hold my valve box up and allow the space for the PVC to exit, which looked fine before burying everything and when I had my custom manual manifold, but my expectations changed, and I ended up getting the Orbit 3 valve pre-assembled manifold from my local Home Depot. On the manifold's box it shows this base which HD doesn't sell, so while looking for additional components for the manifold I figured what the heck, I'll make things cleaner and easier for an extra $10. The base not only makes it nicer, but keeps dirt out, and most of all it has the bottom plastic pieces which help to hold the valves in place without touching the ground which would have been a problem for me if I went with only the bricks. I didn't want them to sag, but didn't want them to touch the ground. I felt like it was my birthday and this was the best gift I got, but that feeling could have been due to this was one of the last pieces to what started out as a quick project, but ended up morphing into a much bigger one which took a bit longer than I expected. One minor observation, when burying it, make sure the exit hole covers don't move and are flat on the box. I opened my valve box recently to check a leak and found some dirt came in. Turns out that when I buried it, the dirt pushed it off the side of the box about a half inch. The bottom of the cover piece is flat and perhaps as I was happily shoveling in the dirt to this final section, it pulled off, but you should be good if you hold it in place and cover it first, then start dumping the shovel loads on.

Great idea but getting box is an issue
Great produce idea, but you have to hunt for the right size box to fit it. Orbit does not make the box anymore so you have to go to Lowes or Home Depot to find the box. The best fitting box is at HD. Even with the best fitting box, Its still not perfect.

Valve box base
I love the way the valves fit into the base perfectly and had In-N-Out cut outs and just had to put the box on top

Irrigation box ‘base’ is a must-have
In years past I would one use the irrigation box. When I saw the Base it made perfect sense! I was getting ants & slugs living inside the box but now the base seals thing up real tight.

I Am A Rookie When It Comes To This.....
This is great! I have never installed a sprinkler system before. I wanted a low profile, below ground alternative to having valves and wires sticking up above ground. This base provided a very sturdy platform for my control valves. The hardest part was digging the hole, and leveling. Once I figured out how to set it level...boom(!) it was done. I used 3/4" supply line, but you could go as big as 1" PVC I bought the Orbit 53213 12-inch box to go along with this. I gave this a high rating because it is sturdy and does what it is designed to do. The only suggestion I have is to add a knock-out for conduit if you decide (as I did) to use PVC conduit (or pipe) for your control wires. For me, this issue was easily solved by drilling with a regular "Spade" drill bit. I did not degrade my rating, because most people just burry the cable next to the water pipe, and because I used 3/4" PVC for the supply line, I probably could have squeeze 1/2" pipe or conduit, but it would have been too tight a fit for my comfort.

The key to a simple and uncluttered irrigation box
I'm a DIY guy and have configured residential irrigation systems in about three homes. Generally I have two manifold boxes, with three or four valves each. Using this base really makes a clean installation possible. The valves sit nicely on the frame, holes are provided for source water and zone lines, and the box sits right on it. Using this costs you a bit, but you'll be glad you spent the extra - highly recommended!
