Good product after slight tweak
I installed this brake system and after talking to the owner three times I was able to make it work for me. The square tube shafts, one inside the other, are supposed to use the force of the tow vehicle to force one tube into the other and thus pull a cable attached to the brake pedal which pulls on the brake pedal to accomplish braking. Well, the problem was that the inner tube was somehow rubbing against the outer tube without allowing the movement of one tube in the other. The owner was saying all their assemblies are tested for movement before leaving the factory, which meant nothing to me, as mine had no movement. To solve this I sprayed some silicone between the tubes with a long skinny red straw. I then drove the units, braked, sprayed more, drove the units, and it started working. Also, in my case the owner suggested I use more slack in the cable than recommended in their instructions, which was also a good thing, and now this unit is perfect. Except for the problem in the beginning I would have given it 5 stars. It is that good, and lots cheaper than other styles of brakes. Also, my car needs the battery disengaged while towing, so it would have required more wiring and more money to solve the braking problem with some of the other units out there. I will also say their customer service solution was for me to speak to the owner who knows more than anyone there, and for that I appreciate the 20 to 30 minutes he took in the form of 3 phone calls to try to help me. I gather the problem I had was very unusual.

Doesn’t work as described
I tow a jeep gladiator. The Rv shop couldn’t get the dash light to work so I don’t know if it’s engaged. It never really worked as described. The emergency brake (red brake line- additional purchase) engages every time I stop because this didn’t, which has burned out the brake on my jeep.

Works great
Replaced existing one I had used for 12 years but it developed too much side play and caused my toad to wander but I got 12 years of use out of it so I can't complain

Ready Brake IS Awesome
Oh Boy! This seems Awesome. We are excited to try it out. We have never towed a vehicle before and wanted some kind of brake to be legal in all the states traveling. The reason I am saying it is awesome is we have installed most everything and is very easy my husband said. They even sent a wire with little light bulb to connect the ready brake in back of RV with the front inside of our RV dash so you know that everything is working as you drive down the road. The light bulb is small but VERY Bright! It seems also that with the ready brake in the receiver of the RV before the towing thing goes on, it will give the towing vehicle a little more turning room when towing. At least that is my opinon. We are excited to try it out and will finish the wiring and hook up to the jeep and test it out. The hook up to our Jeep Wrangler 2002, brakes went so smoothly my husband had a big smile on his face! They sent a DVD with for installation directions that we watched a few times before we started to wire everything. Very Nice. The reason I can't actually say we have drove with it is because we are also in the process of hooking the jeep via towing things to the RV too. This is a whole new adventure for us using both the RV and Towing a vehicle. When everything is ready we are sure there will be no problems as it all seems to be installing easliy. I know there are tons of Braking systems out there as we have looked at them all for SURE this seems to be a easy and awesome braking system, give it a try you will be very happy!

Be advised - can only move brake pedal 2 inches
I bought this product to flat tow a Jeep CJ behind a Ford F150. Everything seemed to install fine, but the jeep didn't stop when towed. Turns out that at least for the Ready Brake unit I bought, the maximum travel on the black top lever (that pulls on the cable connected to the jeep's brake pedal) was only 2.0 inches. Then I measured the travel of the brake pedal before the pedal got "firm". It was also 2.0 inches. So basically the Ready Brake wasn't adding any braking with my setup. I ended up welding an extension arm onto the black Ready Brake lever, now the setup works. In conclusion, the Ready Brake is solidly built (in the USA), inexpensive compared to other options, but may require modification to work with your application.

Much more cost effective way to add brakes to toad.
I installed this on my 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, as well as the break away system from NSA. The fact that when I am done towing and all I have to do is disconnect one more cable to drive off in my Jeep is awesome. Since I was pressed for time (and forgot to order it), I used a 3 inch piece of 1/2 inch schedule 40 PVC pipe with a hole drilled through it to act as a spacer since I have the Blue-ox tow bar for it. That actually worked pretty well. When installing this on a jeep, it appears that jeep already has a location for the hole in the firewall in front of the brake pedal. Look up there from the inside and you'll notice it. Install didn't take too long. The longest part of it was because I'm anal and wanted a decent mount for the cable, but not drill/tap into the frame or tow bar mount. I tapped the mounting tubes that were on the blue-ox tow bar and fabricated a piece of aluminum to bolt it into place. Took a couple of tries to get the brakes to work correctly, but other wise this is an easy morning install. Noticed quite a difference when I was driving on our trip through the mountains of Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota. Only complaint is that the brake light included to mount in the dash didn't work. I think the LED was bad as bypassing the switch on the receiver still didn't get it to work.
