Helps save on energy bills….
This helps save on energy bills, but be sure you have a c-wire. It comes with an adapter, but you’ll likely need a technician to install. This needed to be installed outside at my hvac heat pump unit and the panel needed to be removed. I wasn’t comfortable doing this, so I called my hvac service provider to help with the wiring. Once installed, it has worked great and I’m pretty sure I can already see a reduction in my energy bill. The true test will be next winter to see how effectively it controls the strip heat. I will try to remember to update my review after that!

Installed a new Ecobee Enhanced in my new Condo
Works perfectly. And it does come with a cover plate, I just didn't see it in the bottom of the box. Glad I didn't order one. My A/C thermostat has a missing C wire and inside the A/C unit circuit board was a little confusing. I had an A/C company install it, he used a different unused wire for the C wire so it didn't need the work around C wire thingy. He tested both Air and Heat, and it's now connected to my phone. A+

Great circulating the air in your home! No more cold basement in the winter.
Honestly this thermostat is awesome. While it’s a bit more expensive than other brands. It definitely is worth it. We have a split entrance home. In the winter the basement (while it is ground level) gets really cold. The upstairs stays warm because that’s where the previous thermostat was and heat rises. This thermostat helps circulate the air so that the warm air from upstairs is moved to the downstairs. We also added the sensors to help with this. It’s an add on but worth it if you are struggling with a similar problem. I love the minimalist look and it can be controlled from your phone. You can heat/cool the house on your way back home from a trip/vacation. I really appreciate this feature.

THIS is fantastic!
Let me start by saying that i don’t often write reviews and i am only writing this because of how fed up i was with my previous thermostat: amazon smart thermostat. That thermostat wouldn’t constantly disconnect from Wi-Fi and then i couldn’t control it unless i walked up to it and touched it (the horror!). After getting a replacement with the same issue, i thought i had an issue with my C wire not delivering enough power. I measured it and before i called the HVAC company out i decided to give the eco bee a try. Well - this is amazing. Has not disconnected from Wi-Fi once. The screen is amazing. It comes with a C wire adapter that is 10x better quality than the Honeywell unit i had to buy for my previous one. The red ring makes it super easy to tell when it is on/off. You can set schedules, schedule a vacation, etc. Everything just works and works well. The only complaint i have about the unit is the weather is wildly wrong - not sure what it is doing. On the app the weather seems pretty accurate but on the unit the forecast is for a different city. Not enough to take off a star but hopefully something they can fix.

Not as intuitive as the Nest
Our furnace installer told us to remove our Nest and replace it with the Ecobee. We did so, but find it’s not as intuitive as the Nest.

after some tweaking, I got it to do what I want
This is used in a vacation rental so normal programming for sleep, home and away was not possible. I initially programmed it for: 6 am to 10 pm as "home" at 68 degrees, "away" at 58 degrees & 10 pm to 6 am as "sleep" at 58 degrees. But this meant the unit would come out of sleep at 6 am and if no one was renting the place would take 2 hours (at 68 degrees) before the occupation sensor timed out and set it to "home and away" at 58 degrees. This was an unacceptable energy waste. I changed it to: From 6 am to 10 pm as "away" at 58 degrees, "home" at 68 degrees & 10 pm to 6 am as "sleep" at 58 degrees. This meant the unit would come out of sleep at 6 am. If someone was there "away but home" would activate and if no one was renting the place would stay at 58 degrees. This was strange and not at all intuitive but it works! Edit: This morning I learned the occupation sensor needs (sigh) 1 hour to go from "sleep" to "seeing me" and turn the heat up from "away" at 58 degrees to "away but home" at 68 degrees. So, I again reprogramed the unit to "away" mode (at 58 degrees) 24/7. This way when the occupation sensor sees someone there it will change to "away but home" and turn the heat up to my setting of 68 degrees. While this workaround works, I am hoping they someday change the programming to allow users to adjust the timeout before it changes from "home" to "away" as this forces 2 hours of energy waste.

Requires 24V (Does not run on batteries)
Fantastic product, easy to setup IF you have a 24V common wire (typically blue). Most battery operated thermostats do not make use of this wire and thus it is often snipped off and not connected to any of the terminals at your existing thermostat. You'll often see it tucked in the wall or behind your existing thermostat. This wire will be required to complete the 24V loop back to your AC/Heat units motherboard and in most cases will be connected to the "C" terminal. The "C" is appropriately named for "Common" as it provide a closed circuit for current flow back from the ecobee thermostat. Ecobee provides a great installation app that explains all this and even explains how to confirm that the common wire is properly connected to the C terminal on the AC/Heat unit's motherboard. In my case, I had a zone controller next to my Heat/AC unit. This zone controller allows for communication with multiple thermostats in the house. The zone controller was connected to the AC/Heat unit's motherboard properly (including the blue Common wire). However, within the zone controller, where the wires from my two thermostats in the house terminated, all the wires were connected except the blue/common wire. I had to connect these two blue wires so that the ecobee thermostats would have power. So if you have more than one thermostat in your home, you likely have zone control and you may need to look within your zone controller for these C terminals. Best of luck...love the product!
