Product is ok
I got this specifically to interstate with my thermostats so the ac will turn off when we leave the door to the screened in porch open. It’s not obvious in the description that this requires a $10 per month subscription. This was the only function I cared about as I already have a hard wired security system. It’s ridiculous that there’s a fee so a sensor hooked to my Wi-Fi can talk to my thermostat that’s on the same network. Returned and was actually able to do the desired function using Samsung smart things and my existing hard wired door sensors.

Requires subscription
I installed 4 of these with my new ecobee thermostat. Initially I really liked them. The installation was easy. The range was great. My HVAC would pause the schedule is a door was left open. The HVAC relied on all 4 motion sensors plus the thermostat to determine if it should go into away mode. All of this was great, but there was a catch. When you first buy an Ecobee thermostat you get a 90 day free subscription to their Smart Security service. I didn’t really buy these for a security system but rather to turn off the HVAC system when a door is left open and to help with the away mode. That was a feature of the Ecobee thermostat I really liked. You could look and see when there was activity near one of the doors or when it was opened or closed. However, it turns out, after 90 days all of those features go away. You have to pay at least $50 a year (or $90 for more features) to maintain this basic functionality. For $50 a year this is a VERY basic self monitoring security system and your ecobee thermostat performs as advertised. For $90 you get professional 24/7 monitoring and 30 day video recording for unlimited ecobee cameras. If you want these sensors to just help you reduce your energy consumption and maybe provide a basic awareness of when someone left for the day. You’ll have to pay for it. It’s a bit too expensive for the extremely basic nature of the service it provides.

A must have for ecobee home security ;)
I couldn't stand the idea of giving ADT $50-$60+ a month when I could get these and pay only $5-$10, it's a no brainer ;)

Beautifully designed but overpriced for contact/motion sensors
That “SmartSensor for doors and windows” (SS-FDAW) is a terrible marketing name is only the beginning of my issues with these. I’ll start with that they are beautifully designed. I can tell they did a good job thinking through issues with contact sensors and improving upon what is already out there. For instance, the puck (the small piece with the magnet) can be placed upon either side of sensor, making it simpler to install. The helper steps in the app that aid in placing the sensors are a very nice touch. The design and implementation was top notch. But, they are expensive ($40 each) and huge (see pictures below), and I’m not sure of the market they are going after. Some background: I have 2 Ecobee 3 thermostats and a dozen temperature sensors connected to them. I also have a SmartThings hub with over 60 Zigbee contact and motion sensors installed around my house. Every door, window, and skylight has one. Most of my Zigbee contact and motion sensors also report temperature, so I have a huge amount of data of the temperature variances around my house. The ones I use run on CR2 batteries, which makes them a little chunky but not huge, and gives them a decent battery life (between 1 to 4 years). I paid well under $20 for each of these sensors. You can pair the SS-FDAW to existing wired Ecobee devices; I have one on a Ecobee 3 thermostat and one on the SmartCamera. Both seem to work the same. They are huge, but they also include a motion sensor. They use the same CR2477 battery as the new thermostat SmartSensors and promise a great battery life, and that also helps to increase the size. However, the motion sensor really doesn’t seem useful. It does nothing unless you have a Haven subscription. And even when you do have Haven, it’s motion status doesn’t show up in the app. The only place it seems to be used is if you turn on Home Monitoring (Haven required). Basically, these sensors seem to have nearly no value without a monthly Haven subscription. Its also lacking integration with other ecosystems. The SS-FDAW doesn’t seem to get exported via the ecobee APIs, so other systems (SmartThings, Hubitat) can't take advantage of them. These seem to work fine as a contact sensor, but they are slow to report changes. I’m not sure where the slowness is (the device, the camera/thermostatstat, the ecobee cloud, the app), but if I open the front door, it takes 6-15 seconds for the event to show up in the app. I can compare that to my Zigbee contact sensor running on SmartThings on the same door; it shows the opened event in well under 1/10 second. Maybe this slowness doesn’t matter for use cases they were designed for (e.g., security sensor), but it makes them far less desirable as a general purpose sensor. I use the contact sensor on my front door to turn on the porch lights when the door opens (via SmartThings); that happens effectively instantaneously. The SS-FDAW wouldn’t be useful in that case (not that you can even use it to do that today). So overall I’m not impressed by what these can do, and for the price point these are sold at I’m not sure I’ve have ever gotten them if they hadn’t come with the security bundle. Good
It does what it says. Edit: After one year the battery died. Not a big thing. However, it is a pain in the butt. To change. Not so much changing the battery. But the plastic piece that hold the battery in place, gets in the way of the sensor to connect to the batterie. (I don't know how to explain better than that.) Just a warning. (Everything has its kinks.)

Amazing at keeping the HVAC system off when the doors are open.
I paired this with the premium ecobee thermostat and nothing but happy with the products. My kids have a tendency to leave the door open even after being told 100 times a day to close the door, and this product has arrested my anxiety at ease. It also senses motion in the house and works as a alarm system. I bought the double pack for the front door and the back door and will probably purchase more in the future.

Great Sensors for Doors or Windows
These sensors work well if you are part of the ecobee family, meaning you have to have an ecobee thermostat or a SmartCamera of theirs for them to work. They are a little on the large side and only come in white, so they could possible stick out, color wise, depending on your room theme. Other than this, they are great. They respond fairly quickly for me in the app and HomeKit. I use them in HomeKit in conjunction with some other automations and they work really well for this (turn lights on when door opens, and off when door closes). Speaking of HomeKit though, at this point, it appears these will only show up in HomeKit if they are paired to the thermostat. If you pair them to a camera, they will not show in HomeKit. The website doesn't specify this so if you have tried and are wondering why you can't get them to show up, this is why. Hopefully ecobee will rectify this problem. Other than this, I haven't had any issues with them!

Excellent sensors for ecobee home security system
As a long time ecobee thermostat user, I was intrigued to explore their venture into home monitoring. The 2-pack door and window sensors were easy and intuitive to install. Unlike other similar sensors that I've had over the years, the magnetic sensor has extremely long range making it easy to install on doors or windows with large gaps between the frame and the door. A combination of the mobile app instructions and a blinking LED on the sensor helped get the position perfect. My thermostat is pretty far from the doorways in my home, so I was worried the wireless range wouldn't be long enough for the sensor to reach - but it turned out to be just fine! I've started the free trial for home monitoring and so far so good. My existing SmartSensors and the new door and window contact are all working seamlessly together! I like that the home monitoring does not require a hub to arm and disarm the alarm system - somehow, it just seems to know when I'm home and when I'm away. I've configured it to receive notifications to my cell phone whenever motion is detected in my home or when a door opens or closes. The system works flawlessly! I'm keen to add their camera sometime in the future.

Motion and occupancy sensors. A 2 in 1 bonus
I did not know these were occupancy sensors as well. An added bonus. They are pretty sensitive as well. The sensor and magnet have to be completely beside one another to determine if the door is closed. You need to be precise when setting it up but at least there is no false triggering when the door is open a crack.
