Great to have on hand.
So far I’ve only used this twice. But I have to say I’m impressed. Especially when you need something to hold a small object like having a third hand. And it actually suctions down really good to just about any flat smooth surface quite well. So no worries there.

Rating easily improved to a 5.
Pros: Firmly adheres to smooth surface. Smooth action after lubrication. Accurate jaws and the non-abrasive pads work well. Con: Vice screw has a lot of lag. Cure: I added two washers at two different points as shims. I am pleased to say the vice is now exceptional!

CAUTION - fingers can get pinched on suction lever
I have used this vise for about 2 weeks and it has worked great with the following exceptions: 1. The suction lever can snap back causing pinched fingers. 2. The rubber jaw grips are to flimsy and fall off repeatedly. The manufacturer should make replacement rubber jaw grips available.

Another classic case of "You get what you pay for."
I purchased this product a little over a year ago. Although it hasn't been used frequently, it's been used enough to give an accurate review. I'll start with what I consider the positive attributes. The bench suction I find to be better than most. It will hold securely for a good amount of time with almost all the tasks I've done. The best hold is stuck to a smooth clean surface and a little water (spit) applied to the rubber suction diaphragm. The base will easily adjust to almost any position rotational or to any degree of angle. This is done with a compression ball inside the base and a course threaded compression collar that sometimes takes a little effort to unscrew depending on how tight you need to make it. The jaws are of decent width and come with easily removable plastic / rubber pads that melt at a very low temperature. Thus you really don't want to solder when using the soft jaw pads. The threaded rod that is used to move the jaws are made of low quality steel and have stripped slightly when tightened to the max. The square nut insert that the rod threads into, although likely not stripped, along with the threaded rod, is going to be replaced with custom machined replacements. I'll use a tighter thread pattern and that should take care of the sloppiness that the vice had since it was new. The bottom line is that it will do what it's supposed to do if you use it gently and don't mind a slightly loose movement. If you want to crank it up to "you ain't slipping in the jaws" tightness, you'll likely have similar results. I would give the design and construction an B, and the quality of the metal a C +. The initial cost of the vise was +/- $35 and I expect to pay another $30 - $40 to beef it up. For me, the cost of the upgrade will be a value because I don't think I could get the improved quality in the $65 - $70 range. Note: The picture shows the movable end of the jaw, the threaded rod and the square insert nut on the rod. If you look closely at the threads right up next to the shanked end you may see where the threads striped and slip. Hope this helps someone.

Great portable vice
I use this for minor gunsmithing. Acts as a third band. Thanks!

Very handy little vice
I was iffy with how other people have reviewed this product. However after getting the vice and using it for a couple days. This was a well made purchase and I am loving this thing.

Great quality, versatility, and reasonably priced.
The media could not be loaded. My apologies that my camera drifted, I’ve never made a video for a product. BESSEY VACUUM VICE COMMENT RECAP: pull base lever up to solidly seal rubberized suction bottom to ANY surface without damaging surface - the vice is on a quartz counter in the video. Lever down to release vice. Vice is lightweight for portability but don’t think it isn’t sturdy because it is, removable rubber grips on vice to work on fragile items while grips are removable for using without them on other objects. Wide girth opening along with great tight sealing when vice needs to be minimalized. I think I paid about $33.00 for vice. Extremely well made. My husband is very pleased with the many items he has been able to adjust with this vice and would recommend it to anyone.

OK for the money I guess
This thing has about 5mm of slack/backlash in the jaw. I didn't expect precision machinery for the price, but this is worse than I expected. The weight is OK. Can't speak to the suction mechanism as I don't use it. It is not very heavy, but enough to not tip over while holding a reasonably sized PCB. I use it to hold things while soldering.

Loose and floppy
What the heck is "sheerness" that it asked me to review? My other vice was stolen so I got this as a replacement. Compared to my old one there is a lot of slop in the gearing, and too much play in the slider rods, which means the head has a tendency to flop down and skew sideways. When I clamp something in one side, the play means that the other side closes more, sometimes releasing my item. I put another washer on the screw, which reduced the play somewhat, but correcting the other problem would require replacing the sleeve bearings. I would not recommend this item and would return it but the return period has passed.

Perfection
This is a bargain. It's perfect, and if you plan to do any work that requires an extra hand this is what you need. The only thing holding me back from giving it a full 5 stars is the fact that the item was stated saying the suction cup works on any smooth surface and in my experience (on a smooth wooden table) it sticks (and sticks extremely well as if it was bolted to the table) but then releases the suction and comes off after a few minutes. It's not a major deal as the product has a hefty amount of weight to it, but if you plan to be doing something that would cause heavy shaking it will become an issue. My best guess is that it needs to be on a COMPLETELY smooth surface like glass or smooth steel (like a steel table or something). Overall though, I would buy again.

So far, so good.
Just received and have only used twice - once when I needed a third hand, and when I needed a steady clamp(than my hand) to hold a clay cutting tool. The suction worked great on both arborite counter and my flattop stove. I had it mounted on the stove for a few hours. It never lost suction. I like that it can pivot to the angle I need. I'm really pleased with it.

Seems Decent
Seems to be a fairly decent vise for the price for hobbyist uses and wouldn't suggest any heavy duty work with this, haven't tried the suction mount as most things I've used it for doesn't need it but I'll see how long it lasts durability wise.
