Soft claws enabled me to keep Bootsie!
My Soft Claws Story: I became a full time kitty sitter when a friend covid quarantined in another state - didn't want to take Bootsie with her. I couldn't stand thought of just feeding once a day - leaving him all alone - after it became clear covid was not going to be over fast. After a week I took him home to wait it out at my place, until my friend returned. I figured I'd stop him from shredding my furniture/carpets by temporarily putting important stuff in another room. As time/covid dragged on, I started looking for solutions to return my home to normal. I tried antiscratch cat spray. Completely useless. Sticky paws tape on furniture? I have a great video of Bootsie gleefully just chewing it off to get it out of his way. Catscratch posts, floor scratcher boards, etc.? Yeah, helped a bit...but...I've come to believe my couch is stuffed with catnip as he far prefers it. After a nice antique chair became Bootsie-fodder, I decided to take my life in my hands and attempt to apply "Soft Claws"...let him scratch, but stop the damage. Bingo! Winner! LOVE THEM! I spent a week massaging his paws to lull him into a false sense of security, get him used to me touching his paws. Then, I laid out soft claws and glue on my desk, ready for when he decided to join my next work Zoom mtg. I did it in stages...one claw...two claws...three claws...if he started to get suspicious...I'd stop and pet. If he jumped down, I'd recap glue, wait until he joined me again. It took 2-3 kitty-on-my-desk sessions to get them all on over 2 days. Instructions say "5 min" for glue to set but my experience is that they are pretty set after ~3 min...that's the critical timeframe. He was fine with them from the start - did make a small attempt to chew off...as any self-respecting kitty would...but really not much. He rarely even tries anymore - he's oblivious to it for the most part. He scratches as much as he ever did...it just doesn't damage! Soft claws fall off naturally as his claws grow - at times he might get one off but typically it's when it was about to fall off naturally anyway. Replace rate for me is ~2-3 claws a week. If kitty won't sit still for 5 min dry time...best trick is to FEED! By time kitty is done eating, soft claw is set. Be careful when putting them on that you pull FUR back a bit as you push claw out to pop it on - if some fur sticks to claw, they will bite that. Just snip stuck fur away if it does. These soft claws were the only scratch-damage reduction tool that worked for me and Bootsie. So well in fact that I'm keeping him - he's been with me 6 months, I'm in love, he's my kitty now...with my friend's full blessing! Note: FOR INDOOR CATS ONLY. If they get out of the house, they are completely helpless to defend themselves with these claws on. Never, ever EVER put these on an outdoor kitty.

Great and easy application process (even for a kitten)!
I love the fact that people either don't read instructions or use the item incorrectly and then decide to give a bad review because of their ignorance. Soft Claws and Soft Paws are the exact same thing. If you Google search "Soft Claws" you will go to softclaws.com and guess where you get taken to when you click "ORDER SOFT CLAWS® CATS"? To the Soft Paws website. As per their own admission "*Soft Claws® and Soft Paws® are trademarks for Soft Paws nail caps for cats and dogs of Soft Paws Inc., Lafayette, LA. Patent No. 4,962,731. Made in USA.". The only difference is that these are cheaper on Amazon. Anyway, I have a 9 month old old kitten whose always been very rambunctious, he's not crazy about getting his claws trimmed or me touching his claws, but of course he tolerates it because he has never been aggressive. First I took the treat bag out of its' designated cupboard, and he came running to me. He was very interested in what I was holding (the Soft Claws) and just came up to me to investigate plus he also wanted treats. I obviously first trimmed his nails, which he wasn't a fan of at all and wriggled around a bit, but after I let him go, and gave him a treat. I then proceeded to cut off the tip of the glue and put on an applicator thing on the glue, I scattered some Soft Claws on the couch so I could get to them easily while I was holding my kitten, he was still interested in what I was doing. I grabbed him and put in some glue in the nail cover, I pretty much just watched for a little tiny bead to start to come out of the cover itself to know whether or not I had enough glue then I put it on the nail. I first put in 3 then gave him a treat, let him simmer for 1-2 minutes then grabbed him again and put in 3 more on his other paw, treat, then I put on 2 other ones on his left and right paw. I hadn't fed him in a while so he was hungry, and he goes crazy for wet food, so I had wet food ready for him and he ate for around 5-10 minutes, so the covers dried. I did the thumbs 1-2 hours after I did the main claws. I did this all by myself. The glue dries pretty fast and I don't see what "mess" people talk about, I mean I was putting in the glue one by one as I was applying them while I was holding my cat, and I didn't feel like it was a "messy" application process at all. Like I mentioned before my cat is very energetic, he's still a kitten, but I was able to apply them with no major problems. Of course he wriggled around sometimes, and mewed his objections but all I did was soothe him and give him treats so he would know I wasn't torturing him or something. It's 2 days later and I've seen him licks his paws, I imagine it feels weird, like how I would feel if I put on fake nails, it would take some time to adjust and I imagine it will take him some time to adjust as well. He's not in pain, he walks around like normal, his nails retract normally, the only difference is that when my legs get attacked when he's playing, I don't get accidental scratches. I didn't get Soft Claws because my cat was destructive, he has his scratching post that he loves, I just got them because he likes to play a lot and my boyfriend and I got scratches because of this. Now we can play with him without being accidentally scratched. Your cat doesn't need to be half dead to not make a big deal out of getting Soft Claws/Paws.
