reusable filter
I've used these for a long time and they hold up to bleach cleaning/soaking multiple times.I'm not sure how well they work with small fry as my lift tube went to the top of my now fireburnt 90 gallon tank and my african cichlid fry stayed at the bottom.It may be usable on other powerheads if you purchase the strainer frame to go with it.It is made of some type of plastic and does lighten up after bleaching.Bleaching will kill beneficial nitrogen cycle bacteria so I recomend using other filters at same time if not connecting to a undergravel filter via uplift tube during cleaning/replacement.Oh and they filter very well also,the view from under my tank showed no visable buildup of fish feces-poop and no fry.

Traps a lot of debris.
This prefilter sponge collect a lot of debris without overly affecting the flow of the pump. It has a hole that goes the whole way through the filter, so it can't get clogged completely, but once a week or so I remove it and use a garden hose to blast out the debris it has caught, and wow it holds a lot of debris. If you just try to rinse it in the sink with low water pressure it will look clean on the outside, but spray it with higher pressure water fro a garden hose into a bucket and you can see just how much stuff this filter sponge collects. It has lasted a few months already and still works fine. Just bought another for our other tank. I recommend it.

Good coarse prefilter
Good coarse prefilter. Fits over H.O.T. Magnum and most round filter intakes. Fluval makes good prefilters too, if you require a smaller cell or a less coarse prefilter. This Marineland one will keep most baby fish out of your filter or pump, but cells may be large enough for baby inverts to crawl through. Loses one Star due to debris ("crumbs") in package. This is more than likely just cuttings from where the sponge is cut, and hopefully not deterioration of the material. Would recommend rinsing well to remove the "crumbs" before placing in tank.

Good replacement filter media
Have 4 of the reverse foe filters—was hoping to buy more filters but unable to find. These replacements are perfect and will prolong the usefulness of the filters.

so much easier than cleaning
So glad I finally looked here and found replacement filters, I have turtles that dirty the water very quickly and was having to clean out my original filter every 5 days for 2 years, and it was still not good enough and was falling apart. I now just replace and throw away the dirty one every week or so and the Power Head is much better at doing its job now also. Thank you for selling these

Nice filter
Love it. Fit fine over my powerheads. It's hole is open all the way though. Had to hot glue one end shut. All went well.

Does me no good when fish or shrimp can be sucked up through ...
I bought this with the intent of putting it on my submersible powerhead. The filter has a hole all the way through it. Does me no good when fish or shrimp can be sucked up through the bottom hole.

Great addition to internal pump...
This works great on interior pump cleans lots of gunk out of water & slips off for easy cleaning very pleased...slips up on tapered intake nozzle
