Best for keeping heat in one place on my hand

I bought this as a suggestion from an occupational therapist for my arthritis pain in my thumb. While I don't like the fact that it takes time heat up and melt the wax, it is doing its job. I dip my hand in the melted wax a few times and let the heat from the wax wrap around my skin and go deep into the tissue to relieve the pain. It is better than holding a heating pad on with my other hand. I sit and relax for about 20 min, reading or watching TV, then remove the wax.

Major eczema relief

I have had eczema on my hands and feet my whole life. I don’t have really bad breakouts all the time but I recently had one that has been so painful and no lotions or anything has helped for weeks. I read paraffin wax baths can help with this, so I ordered this one although a little hesitant about the reviews saying it didn’t heat well. I added 2 of the packages of wax and then added the third after about an hour and everything melted perfectly within about 3 1/2 hours. It has only been about 12 hours since I did my first dip and OMG…. The relief it gave me from my eczema is absolutely incredible! I can’t believe how much it helped Clear it up just from one treatment! I left it on my feet for 20 mins & only left it on my hands for about 10 minutes only because I’m impatient lol and it did wonders. The 3 pounds was more than enough to do my hands and feet dipping them all about 5 times with plenty left over. This may be a lengthy review but I appreciate when people leave detailed reviews so I’m doing the same. I definitely recommend this!

Amazing but has some flaws.

First, for dry winter hands or feet this is amazing, and really does work like a spa. Second, for pain control with arthritis it’s wonderful. The drawbacks-and they are a deal breaker for me-the unit is too small to comfortably lay a hand or foot inside and so you don’t get uniform coverage and end up trying to splash the hot wax up over your hand. Not good. My unit got so hot I had to wait (as they recommended) for quite a while to dip, but the window is so small if you miss it, there’s a crust of wax on the top and it doesn’t work well. I touched my hand to the metal heater at the bottom (did mine come with a grate?) and burned myself. Not relaxing. Also once you use the wax you can reuse, but you have to chip it off the sides of the unit then wait literally all day for it to remelt. Good, but definitely some design flaws.

Dejalo encendido a las 48h la temperatura bajará y no te quemará.

Muy caliente, no regula la temperatura. Hay que dejarlo encendido para que baje la temperatura (>48h). Hidrata, segun la parafina que utilice, alivia el dolor. Descubrí que debes dejarlo encendido todo el tiempo, mientras dure el tx o los resultados que esperabas. A las 48h apx la temp de la parafina se regulara y podras utilizarlos sin sentir que te quema. Las primeras 24h la temp sera de 130 a 132 F, a las 48h ya la temp habrá bajado a 124 a 128 apx. (Temp recomendable es 127 ????)

Awesome, spa day at home!

I got this for my dry hands during winter, it helps so much, not for dainty hands though! If you don't have a high heat tolerance then this isn't for you! A little disappointed in the initial melt, and I personally don't use it with the plastic grate in the bottom, it hinders the melting. Overall does its job and I use it often and without issues!

Hot....

This is the cool gadgets except that the wax seems really hot. I haven't gotten a thermometer yet but I can only tolerate 3 coats of wax before it's really painful. So just a dipping or two for now. Wish it had a temp gauge but that's not what I bought. Still a nice compact and easy to use item.

Doesn’t melt wax evenly

The media could not be loaded. Comes with 3 pounds of wax. Instructions say to have between 2.5 lbs and 3 lbs of wax in container at all times. I cut wax into blocks and put it in warmer. It stays on the heating mode for only a short time and never fill melts wax. Wax on edges stays thick and firm. We’ve used a spatula to put it away from side hoping it would melt but edges just form right up again. Very disappointing.

Spend more money, get a better Machine

The unit will not burn all of the wax. Also, the "ready" indicator light will be ON, then I will try using it. Only to be burned again. I wish I had spent more money and gotten a better Machine.

Exceeded Expectations!

I recently sustained an avulsion fracture of my ring finger. Due to Covid my hand therapist is not offering paraffin wax treatment as an adjunct to the hands on Physio treatment. I read the various reviews and decided to go with this Homedics machine vs the more expensive ones. I have been extremely happy with my decision. Yes, the first time I had the 3 lbs of wax “melt” it took about 3 hours and then about 1-1.5 hours for subsequent sessions. There is absolutely no need to spend more $ on any other more expensive machine I can assure you of this. This item comes with plastic bags to cover my hand and the wax is super easy ti remove and re-use. My hand therapist recommended that I purchase a machine and I’m so happy that I did. I dip my hand in 6-8 times and the temperature is ideal when putting my hand in the plastic bag for about 10 minutes. There is no need for fancy plastic gloves and mitts or brushes offered with other machines. This one does the job perfectly and I see no need to spend hard earned money on a more expensive item ! At the end of the day, hot wax is hot wax. For the next use the wax melts very evenly with the auto temperature control settings.

I am so glad that I did

I read all the reviews before buying this and was a bit skeptical, but willing to try. I am so glad that I did. Yes, this bath is not huge. You won't be able to dip your whole foot in it. But it is perfectly adequate for hands, elbows, heels. Wax gets very hot but not so hot that it has to be unplugged to use it. It will definitely take 3-4 hours to heat up and melt the wax initially. After the first use, bank on a couple of hours to reheat it. Not a big deal, just plan ahead when you want to use it. All in all I got what I expected and am quite satisfied with it.

Works well

Bought this to help with my hands that now have arthritis. Playing the piano with arthritis is hard and I've tried everything and this was my last idea. It does take 3 hrs to initially melt the wax so plan ahead. After that, 1.5 hrs. It really makes a difference. I've tried twice now and it really helps my hands and fingers. I was really impressed and highly recommend. I also tried it on my feet and yes, I can put my foot in there, no problem. I used as a facial on my face and it left it nice and soft. It's like a spa at home. My only caution is that I find the wax hot on my fingers. Maybe they are more sensitive (I have Reynauds) so I have to dip quickly and carefully because of that. Highly recommend.

Great product and price

This product is worth the money. It is of good quality and comes with paraffin wax and disposable bags. It is of great quality, however, I would advise you update the manual. The manual instructions explains to place the plastic grate in the paraffin wax bath whilst placing their hands in the machine. I wouldn't advise anyone to place their hand into this machine, as you could easily burn yourself and also you are encouraging cross contamination. The advise should be to remove it with a ladle into the disposable bags that are supplied and then for the client to place either their foot or hand inside the bag. The paraffin wax can be painted onto the skin with a disposable brush for larger areas including back, knees and other areas of the body.

Only for hand

Will only fit hands. But that is what I needed it for. My only complaint is the wax doesn't all melt and often have good 2 inches all around sides, when green light goes on for use there is no way to heat the extra wax that didn't melt. But the wax is very hot with the wax that heated up in the middle is used. So beware. Don't know if would buy again . You can put wax in bag and put feet or hand in bag to mould like spa but I prefer to put my hand in, then into a bag.I put my hand in about 4 times to get good buildup of wax. I don't share my wax with anyone else. Of course clean hands before putting in wax and dry completely.
