Hard to dial in the right temperature
It's hard to get it to the right tempurature. The "lavendar" parafin that comes with it is gawdawful fake scent. Once it melts in, you can't easily get rid of the smell in the bath or in your house. I had to purchase additional unscented parafin to cut the smell. I ended up adding more mineral oil (1.5 cups/4 lb wax) than recommended for by most sources (1 cup/4 lb) in order to get it to melt for subsquent uses. Then I'd have to first put it on high for an hour and then lower it to around medium for an hour to get it so it will liquify the wax without shooting up to a temp that would scald my hands. I had to buy a cooking thermometer, drill a hole in the lid to insert the sensor into the wax without it touching the bottom, to try to regular the temperature. As such, I don't use it nearly as much as I'd like because of the lead time needed. But when I do get it running right, it makes a huge difference in treating my hand inflammation issues.

Wax too hot, uneven heating
I followed the operating instructions in the user manual, and noticed that the product did not work as advertised. I melted the wax, and then turned down the heat to “keep warm” as per the instructions. I let the wax cool for 45 minutes. Even though the top of the wax was solid, the wax underneath was so hot it actually burned my skin when I did the test on the inside of my wrist. The next time, I tried an alternative method to dipping, where I brushed the wax onto my hands with a paintbrush. Even after letting the wax drip and cool on the brush, it was still too hot to brush on my hands. I am returning this simply because I cannot get the wax to reach a comfortable and safe temperature.

Good wax warmer
All in all good, here is the breakdown: Wax smell- at first I thought it smells nice when the wax was in the package. Then after opening it all up it is a little strong. The plus is after warming/ melting it tones down ALOT. Breaking wax- the directions say to basically break in 4’s. It’s difficult to do so I cut the packages open and broke into smaller pieces. Melting- I attached a few pictures of the melting process. You have wax after one hour, wax after and hour and 45 minutes, which was completely melted, and then after turning it off for 30 minutes. TEMPERATURE- the wax does get HOT. That’s why I decided to turn it off to cool it down some. However after 30 minutes it started to solidify again just on top. I went ahead and kinda mixed it in and used it anyways. At this point I felt the wax was an ok temperature and it didn’t bother my hands. My husband thought it was way to hot still. So I think getting the right temperature is going to take some practice and trial and error. There were no leaks with the warmer and it came with enough wax to fill the tub and the little plastic sleeves to cover your hands with. I would advise preopening them and or having help to put them on. After leaving the wax on for about a half hour my hand and nails were noticeably softer. It says to use a few times a week and I think I will, because let’s be honest it’s fun.

need wax
It takes about six hours to get the wax to the maximum temperature. I don't understand why they would call it "quick heat". I bought the unit so I could have heat treatments for my hands. I have Dupuytrens Syndrome which is a painful tendon/ligament condition. I dip my hands five times to get a good thick layer that will stay hot so the heat can soak into my joints. I use the plastic gloves then the mittens. I am satisfied that the unit can stay hot enough to keep the wax melted and at a good hot temperature but the amount of wax shipped with the unit was inadequate. The unit comes with three pounds of wax but needs to be at least six so one can dip the hands without getting too near the element. I use Gulf wax to fill the unit. The wax is a home canning product and with the addition of 1/2 cup of medium weight mineral oil will stay at the desired temperature for an indefinite time. The wax is cheaper than anything on the internet or beauty supply houses. I get it at the grocery store where the canning jars are sold. The mineral oil leaves the hands soft and supple and it assists with removing the wax after a treatment. Just shake the hands in the supplied plastic gloves and the wax fall off to be reused if desired or disposed of in the plastic gloves. My wife uses the unit to soften her heels after a day in work shoes. She dips her heels three times, I wrap her feet in plastic wrap, she tip toes to the bed and then I wrap her feet in soft towels to hold the heat for as long as possible. The temperature control actually works to cool the wax if the maximum temperature is too hot. One can drop the temperature so the wax can skin over for transport to another room.

Not for me
1- it takes forever for the wax to melt 2- it smells so bad and toxic in the whole house. I doubt it good to inhale it for a long time. 3- maybe it’s me, but it was just too burning hot for my hands and if I bring the temperature down, the wax would form a thick layer… I just didn’t know what to do with it anymore. 4- so I return it and they were really nice and took it back and refunded my money. I give them credit for that.

Nice
Not very fond of the smell. Takes 2 hours to melt wax to use. Otherwise, it’s great for soothing skin and aches.
