I have two, they are perfect!
The litter genie has been a complete game changer for me. Before using this product, I would have to constantly make trips to the trash can to dispose of dirty litter, which was both time-consuming and smelly. But with the litter genie, all of those problems are a thing of the past. This product is incredibly convenient and has truly made my life easier. It's very easy to use, and helps to eliminate any unpleasant odors. Plus, the pail can hold up to two weeks worth of cat litter, so I don't have to worry about emptying it frequently. One of the best things about the litter genie is that it lasts for a long time without needing to have bags changed. This means that it's not only convenient, but also very cost-effective. I also appreciate that it's environmentally friendly, as it reduces the amount of plastic waste from litter bags. I have two of those and they are totally worth it!

Better LATE than Never...Must have with TIPS for Genie Users!
First, we bought our Litter Genie in 2017 and it's still perfect! Yes, over 5 years ago for a silly plastic kitty poop-cleaning convenience! All the reviews are right on for this thing! We have 2 Ragdoll cats (a boy and a girl) who don't like to get their fur messed up, so a clean box is important. To our noses too! One of our cats actually stands on his 3 legs on the side of the box to poop! So funny!! haha We use Elsey's Clumping Litter and sometimes add Fresh-Step Clumping crystal litter too. It doesn't matter. This thing ROCKS! We use it to clean the littler at least twice a day because it's so easy. Pretty much every time we use our master bathroom since it's in there. We live in FL and don't have a basement and they don't have access to the garage. Even with TWO cats, we only close the bag and put it in the trash for pickup every 2 weeks! The biggest complaint is the price of the refill bags and how fast they go away. They are great and keep the odor in. PLEASE don't try to use cheap plastic grocery bags in this thing! But you CAN use a lot less with my tips which I've been doing for over 5 years now. First, buy a bunch of those little zip-ties (like 3" long)...so cheap for 500-1,000 of them! Will last you MANY YEARS! When the bag is really full (we wait 2 weeks for 2 cats, but you could do once a week if you must), just open the Genie and put a zip-tie around the top of the bag. Put another one about 1/2 inch up and cut between the two. NO MORE TYING and wasting the pull-down bag! haha Works everytime time. Never had one open up. Now you can put that bag (we do) into that stupid cheap free grocery bag if you want to have handles to take it to the garbage can in your garage, outside or wherever! haha It won't smell at all, so no worries! We do that the day before they pick up our cans in the driveway. Most everyone has loads of those from the grocery store. If you don't, it doesn't matter. Even if you forget and put it in your garbage can the day AFTER they take it, it will be fine for another week in it. Trust me. Been there, done that! I see where they have a newer version...a roll one? Not sure I'd try that since ours works so good already. If it ain't broke right? Thousands of people can't be wrong about this thing. Yes, you may need to clean it some. I do it every couple of months (the inside top lid part), the same time I start over with the kitty litter too. Easy to do. Just wipes clean. But when you think of all the HOURS of scooping into a bag and taking to the garbage each day, it's so worth it! p.s. We did buy a Teflon coated litter scoop that fits perfect in the Genie instead of the cheap plastic one that comes with it. Another best buy! Unless you get a lemon or something, you won't regret this purchase! Good luck and kiss the kitties!

Fantastic Product for a Fantastic Cat
Perfect for 1 giant, 15-pound cat who takes dog-sized, very pungent poops. We live in a small apartment and this product makes it so easy to keep her litter box clean and the place smelling fresh, like I can have it clean and odorless again within 5 minutes after she poops. Believe me, both of us are VERY pleased to constantly have a home that smells clean. The product is deceptively compact and fits right under the small table next to her litter box. We use pine pellet litter and don't have a sifting tray (because they're impossible to find in hooded boxes), but with this product and the included scoop, it's super convenient to sift out the sawdust byproduct without wasting pellets that are still good. Because sawdust has a greater volume than clumped litter, each bag lasts about a week for us (then I change the bag and throw it out with the rest of the litter when I do my weekly deep clean of the box). Here's my method for using it with pine pellet litter: 1. Scoop out solids, hold open tray and throw into Litter Genie. Close tray if you want, it doesn't need to be open for the next part. 2. Scoop out sawdust, use a scant scoop and a gentle tapping motion on the rim of the product to let the dust fall through. For me, the provided scoop is the perfect size for this and makes the least mess. 3. Return pellets to box, repeat until you've scooped enough to be satisfied. Smooth out pellets and replenish if necessary 4. Open tray, let sawdust fall through. You may have to wiggle the Litter Genie. 5. Wipe down rim and scoop with a Clorox wipe. Sweep up fallen sawdust if you were clumsy with the scoop (disinfect dustpan if necessary). Put wipes and stray sawdust in the Litter Genie, open tray, let it fall through. Close tray, close lid, wash hands. It sounds like a lot of steps, but it seriously takes 3-5 minutes depending on the amount of sawdust to scoop out (and you don't need to scoop out ALL of it, just enough. If you're feeling lazy and scoop at least once a day, you can just scoop the solids for a day and it will be fine). If I had one critique, I really wish the scoop holder actually attached to the product. Overall, it's a wonderful product that makes daily cat care easy, keeps unpleasant odors away, AND prevents me from having to go out in the cold to the dumpster twice a day.

A pain to use
Doesn't hold as much as they make out. Holds a couple days worth from one cat which means you might as well have just got a disposable bag and done it that way. Mega expensive refill, the top gets dirty so needs cleaning and the 'handy cutter' isn't very handy.

Makes cleaning up after cat so much easier
The Litter Genie has been excellent. It's simple to use and more effective than a basic bin at keeping odours away. It makes the clean up process easy as it sits perfectly next to the litter box. Emptying after 2 weeks is an easy process. Just flip the lid, use the fixed bag cutter, tie and throw away. Simple! It cuts down on plastic bag waste as one bag of waste litter every 2 weeks is a lot less plastic bags thrown away and they are also strong and secure. If dealing with the litter box is a chore then get this to make things easier!

Too much effort to use
Pretty disappointed in this product. In theory it should be amazing. But the bit where you have to pull to open the hatch so the stuff falls into the bin is just so fiddly and hard to pull. It also doesn’t always work, even when opened, the poop just stays on top lol. We used it twice then never again. Too much effort (which is the opposite of what this should be!)

Litter hygiene made simple!
This is a great little solution to the problem of keeping the litter tray clean and tidy. Its so much easier to scoop straight into this bin, and then pull and release the slider to seal it all in, compared with unpeeling bags, scooping into them, tying and disposing of them. And Suddenly there is no odour.. I don't know how frequently I will need to empty the bin, or how long the rather pricey cartridge will last, but its seems manageable for the benefit. I bought the plus size for my two indoor cats. it's not obtrusive, aboutbthe size of a bathroom pedal bin.

Great Idea
Not sure how I was living without this. I live in a flat and taking a bag of litter out every night for 2 years was grating, this is a great idea. Doesn't smell at all - I have one indoor cat and she goes a few times a day, the one bag it came with has lasted a good few months. Really easy to use and empty.
