Perfect for pine pellets and accommodating to scoop
I use the jewaytec metal scoop for pine pellets (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0992CZJTW?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title) and the litter champ is compatible. I know using this for straight poops can be a bit dangerous because of fly/maggot infestation, so i dump a half cup or so of crystal litter in the bottom of the fresh bag to help dry it out between bag changes. It comes landed up and ready to go out if the package but do make sure the knot is double tied as mine was loosely tied. Don't want to have a disaster on your first use! I purchased this one for the compatibility with my scoop, the foot pedal opening (because I was sick of having to open my litter genie with one hand and scoop with the other and then be a nervous wreck about spilling while maneuvering all of that), and an added bonus?! This handle! I didn't know how much I needed that! Lastly, I've seen a few comments talking about how strong the odor is from the bags. I'm very sensitive but I didn't find it offensive at all and I really appreciate that their biodegradable. So far I'm get happy. I will update if any issues arise.

Litter Champ is Excellent! No more shopping bags! One small flaw.
We were VERY skeptical about ordering this - wondering if it would fit well, how economical the bags would be, odor control, etc... - But now that we've had it over 4 months (at the time of this review) I think it's safe to give experienced opinions. First opinion - GLAD WE BOUGHT THIS! * THIS REVIEW/RESULTS BASED ON USE FOR TWO ADULT MALE CATS, POPULAR CLUMPING LITTER, BOX SCOOPED EVERY DAY * * THE PROS: - VERY SIMPLE TO USE. It's so easy to remove a full bag and start a new one. - SMALL STATURE / BIG CAPACITY. fits well in most cramped places, but still big enough to hold plenty of waste. - NO MORE SHOPPING BAGS - Anyone who has toiled with this knows - it's a hassle and not environmentally friendly. The "green" plastic bag supply for Litter Champ is way better to deal with and more biodegradable. - HOLDS A LOT OF WASTE - Even with TWO cats, clumping litter, and daily scooping, we only have to change out the bag every FIVE DAYS! - BAG/LINER LAST A LONG TIME - FOR US ONE TUBE LASTS OVER 3 MONTHS! Yes, really! The "bags" are actually one very long "tube" of bag/liner material that you simply snip/tie off to remove pieces of when full. We just recently ran out of the one that came with it - the first bag supply just lasted us from March 20th to July 15th! - LIFE IS BETTER - Dealing with litter removal is simply more pleasant than before. Pressing with a foot to pop the lid and simply dump clumps into Litter Champ is SO much easier than what we were doing before. - REFILLS ARE ECONOMICAL - At the time of this review (July 25, 2012) refills are available 3 for $22 at [...] - based on our experience with the first roll that's OVER 9 MONTHS SUPPLY for $22! From our calculations based on the first roll, the bags cost us less than $30 per year! - REFILL ROLL EASY TO REPLACE - We were concerned that it might be a pain to replace the bag since it's one long continues tube, but the refills are extremely EASY to replace. Most people won;t even have to read the directions, but if you do it will probably only be once. Very simple / fast to replace! - REMOVING A FULL UNIT - So simple - open the front door, grab the green plastic and pull it out a little, and use the built-in slicer right in the door to chop the top and tie it off. Done! ----- * THE CONS (really only one worth mentioning: - THE SCOOP THAT COMES WITH IT - As other reviewers have mentioned, the holes in the scoop that comes with it (and fits the lid perfectly for neater scooping) are a little wider than most other scoops, therefore it misses some of the "finer crumbles" of clumped litter, so we use a finer scoop most of the time. This is not a big deal if your finer scoop is small like the one that comes with this unit, but if you use a larger scoop like we do then it's harder to get everything into the unit as neatly. So for us this means a little extra cleanup on the top / around the unit itself if we're not careful. - CLEANING INSIDE THE LID - This really shouldn't even be a "con", it's a fact of life when dealing with cat litter. The top area surrounding the hole for dumping the scoop into the unit gets litter crumb buildup on it and occasionally you have to brush the litter crumbs into the unit so the lid will close firmly. ----- * THE DEBATABLE: - ODOR CONTROL - Some reviewers complain that there's not enough odor control. For my family the experience has been different - we think the odor control is very good EXCEPT while you're scooping or removing a full bag. When the unit is open like that, then yes it can be a bit stinky in the room, BUT the other 99% of the time while the Lid and Door sit closed then the odor control is fine. (At least in our experience after almost 4 months using Litter Champ). ----- ** BOTTOM LINE: HAPPY PURCHASE - The Pros FAR outweigh the Cons and we highly recommend the Litter Champ! It has made our daily scooping and litter room maintenance a much easier / more pleasant experience. We save time, trouble, and mess. Way less hassle that shopping bags, and better for the environment since the green bag/liner for Litter Champ is far more biodegradable than plastic shopping bags. WORKS GREAT, MAKES LIFE EASIER! STARS - Taking off one star for the scoop holes being too big and having to use a different scoop. ----- UPDATE - JUNE 2013: We bought this Litter Champ on March 16, 2012 We bought our first Litter Champ 3-Pack Refill bags July 11, 2012 We bought our second Litter Champ 3-Pack Refill bags December 31, 2012 As of today June 3, 2013, we still have one Refill bag/tube left to go. So doing the math, we're averaging one Litter Champ 3-Pack Refill about every 4 to 5 months = about $48 a year WAY more economical than the competitor product we tested, which required a refill bag/tube within 3 weeks. So even after testing out it's biggest competitor (which now sits in the garage collecting dust) we're still VERY happy with this purchase. It saves us a lot of time, hassle, and money. (And although there is no solid proof - the bags are much more biodegradable / exo-friendly than using plastic shopping bags). At less than $50 per year (at current price) for refill bags/tubes, this is SO worth it! Very convenient, easy, clean, and economical.

Glad I bought it.
The litter champ definitely makes my life easier. I use small zip ties instead of tying the bags so there is less waste. I've been using the one bag included for over a month with what looks like a few more weeks of bag to go. The bags are expensive so I got some generic 16' ones for $3 each which I am confident will work. A couple of additional features would make it perfect. Some mechanism to open the flap would make it cleaner and easier to use. I use a chopstick to open the flap before I dump the clumps. It would be nice if it was a button or something built-in. It would also be nice if the top was funnel shaped so the crumbs that land on top but don't make it onto the flap would tend to fall in by themselves. I use a small brush to clean the top each time. Without the chopstick and brush, the top would get nasty fairly quickly. The way I use it, it stays clean and I don't have to touch anything I learned a long time ago that a nice scoop is worth the money and they are widely available now. I use a 5.5" wide cast aluminum scoop that works fine with the size of the flap. In any case, something happened where I didn't have this product, I'd quickly buy another one.

Good but not perfect
I like this unit better than the Litter Genie that I used for years. However, if you accumulate too many clumps in the bag, it's difficult to get the bag out. And I don't want to constantly waste half a bag that isn't close to full. Plus when you pull it out, it hits the foot lever and the top pops up. Perhaps designing it to open on any other portion of the unit would have been better. Second issue - when taking the bag o' poop out, the top isn't made to stay open - so you have to hold the top up while at the same time removing the top of the bag from the ring that it goes around. And lastly, the litter scoop is fine - but the hook and the hole in the handle of the scoop are ridiculous. The hole is in the shape of a cutesy-poo little cat. Apparently the scoop was given to a bunch of school children as some kind of project and this was the winner. But it's not. The hole is barely big enough to fit over the hook - which is also very poorly shaped so that the scoop only goes partway onto it and then sticks out so that it is often getting knocked off by my leg, the litter box, or just jiggles off. I put a Command hook on the back and am using my grown-up style litter scoop which hangs on the Command hook very securely. Aside from these annoying issues, I still like it better.

A game changer for disposing of used cat litter
This bin is such a game changer when it comes to disposing of cat litter, it’s so easy to use and comes with everything needed to start using it, it has a cat litter scoop (which is inside the bottom door along with the guarantee, how to use and the bag cutter which you just press into the slot provided by the door hinge) the scoop hangs on a little hook on the side and there is a little magnet that helps hold it there, the bag system comes pre installed and already tied at the bottom ready for use, so all you have to do is put it in a convenient place to start using, it has a handle on the top if you need to transport it around the home to different litter boxes, there is a little pedal on the bottom that you step on to open the outer lid, and the inner lid (which is spring loaded) just press on that to open with the scoop and pop the used cat litter in, I prefer to still bag it and pop the bag in, I received this and started using it on the 15th of January and found it was full on the 29th January, I have a little Ragdoll doll floof called Blueboy who will be 6 months old on feb 1st, he has a number 2, 2-3 times a day, during this time there was hardly any smell coming out of the bin but baring in mind I bag his number 2’s before binning however when I was popping it in a normal bin that was smelling after 2 days, this bin I could hardly smell anything after 14 days a big plus in my opinion, to bin a full bag you open the front bottom door there’s a small press down button on the side to open it you pull the bag down and cut it by running it through the handy cutter on the inside (be careful as it’s very sharp then pull some more of the bag roll down tie a knot in the bottom close the door and it’s ready for use again, I don’t know how long the bag roll lasts or how easy it is to install it as I’ve only just had the bin, but judging by the videos of it, it should be easy, oh just to add if anybody needs to find out things about this just YouTube it

Excellent product.
This has made my life much easier. The bin is very easy to use and clean. There are no unpleasant smells when the lid is closed.

Makes litter disposal very easy, and stops the smell of used litter until emptying.
Very good product, lightweight, and easy for any level user. The smell from a "litter bin" or similar has always been a problem that irritated me. This prevents that as there is a lockable trap door into the litter bag, and then a lid you flip open with a foot pedal.

Not as pictured
Ordered what it looks like in picture (grey) received a cream/white colour one of different design. Annoying. However, fit for purpose

Great invention
The best way of getting rid of my cat's businesses! One minor negative point: there is no handle, so moving the bin around is a bit annoying. Can highly recommend!
