Chases Threads!

I've been a mechanic for 40 years and every time that I needed to clean up threads I have always used a tap without any issues. Well, I guess that I have been doing it wrong all these years and so as to not mess up the threads on an engine block, I bought this set of thread chasers. They seem to work alright (although not as good as a tap); however, on some of the threads they needed to be longer, so I did end up using a tap on those. I do know that using a tap on rusty threads will dull the tap, so these are nice for keeping expensive taps sharp. I guess? Like others have noted, the plastic bit organizer is kinda' flimsy, so keep that in mind if that's important to you. But for me, it will work just fine.

One broke, but they did replace it

The 3/8" broke off in the hole I was trying to clean out. I had to weld a nut on the broken piece and then carefully ease it out. I emailed the company and they sent a replacement.

Don't let other reviews sway you

Tool showed up overnight and is exactly as expected. I've been chasing bolts and threads on my Harley for the last several days and it works great and is a quality tool. My only complaint would be that the case is very flimsy plastic and they use some heavy-duty staples to seal it, so by the time you remove them, the case was torn.

Nice product, the Taps/ Chase set was loose in the Amazon bag, the manufacturers Tray is useless, crumpled crushed, not fit for purpose,but the product is doing the job.

chasing bolt threads on 1974 sportster

I used this product to chase the bolts threads on my 1974 harley sportster. I owned the bike since 1976 and at that time getting parts for it was fairly easy. However, I chase all my bolts and bolts holes with these dies to avoid and headaches and problems.

Used Delivered As New, Not That Good For Primary Function

The unit I received was opened then had its packaging taped back together, ineffectively. The coarse thread chaser nuts did cut away damaged threads, mostly. Unfortunately standard nuts fit more closely than the thread chaser so when the chaser would spin on or off, the real nut still jammed and was hard to get past the damaged area on the threads. Better than nothing, but not good.

Great tool. Great support.

Love these tools. Have been using them a couple years now. Had one ¼-20 break off in an outboard exhaust manifold. Totally my fault. I didn't have enough of the old bolt removed and applied too much force. Contacted Lang and they quickly replaced to broken tap.

expected someting better

Even though I needed the parts just for some work in the garage on my car, I expected better manufactured tools. It probably is corrct if you don't spen anything, you don't get anything .... :-(
