THe FINEST grinder that I have ever owned - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
This is, without any doubt or equivocation, the finest grinder that I have ever owned. It is certainly a tremendous value especially at the sale price at which I purchased the item. It is noisy! However, I would be noisy too if the first thing that I had to do each morning was to fill my mouth with coffee beans and then, with my teeth, grind up enough for a couple of pots of coffee. Trust me on this, I would be howling, and growling, and barking out a LITANY of profane epithets, unceasingly!! There are settings for volume of bean to be ground in order to meet the liquid demands, and enough settings to grind the beans precisely as I like them. This setting, obviously, will be determined by the coffee blend as well as the apparatus that is employed to tackle this task. Along with the preferential whims of the human behind the magic!! Quality coffee brewing is NOT a task for the faint at heart. Their very state of emotional and physical wellness may depend upon their level competence, passion, and level of expertise, that are mandated by the task of conjuring up that precious morning commodity :) The machine has a very large bay into which I poor the appropriate amount of product, being careful not to overfill beyond my immediate need. The machine has an exceptionally large bean capacity. I use one heaping coffee measuring scoop per cup of coffee. Subsequently, I fill the bean bay up 2/3 of the way. This is the maximum amount of grounds that the coffee ground catch basket will hold. Furthermore, the filters won't accommodate beyond that ... at all!!! I no longer subscribe to the old men's tales that the consumption of a combination of slices of hockey puck look'n toast, dipped into a 12 oz. cauldron of spoon dissolving coffee, that has the same color, flavor, and texture as the aforementioned toast, will put hair on my chest. Lastly, the negligible amount of finely ground coffee that escapes the clutches of the grounds receptacle is hardly worth mentioning. I utilize the grinder as it sits on either a dish rag, or dish towel. This completely alleviates any concerns of coffee dust on my counters. It also absorbs all of the vibration of the grinder on the counter, which effectively lowers the decibel level of the grinding process. As well designed and crafted as this grinder is, again, I genuinely believe that it is going to outlast me!! Hence, it will be welcome an appropriate comrade to accompany the KOFFEE tamper that I use to PACK the grounds into the filter. The end result of this entire process is DARK STRONG, BLACK, HOT KOFFEE!! Yep, and it all starts with, and depends upon, my trusty Krups Precision Flat Burr Grinder :)

Does a good job considering the price
I'm using this to grind coffee for my AeroPress coffee maker. The finest setting gets the job done, though I think that it lets through more large particles (boulders) than my JavaPresse hand mill (conical burr grinder). I'm definitely feeling less back pressure as I press the plunger. But I'm not noticing any decrease in the quality of the brew. I haven't tried it in our Mr. Coffee espresso maker, but I feel that it is just a little too coarse to do well in that. Espresso makers rely more on pressure for extraction than the AeroPress does. The machine is a little noisy, but not to the point where it's going to wake the whole house (like my Cooks blade grinder does, I was taking it outside it was so loud). It's certainly more quiet than steaming milk. I've only been using the "2" cup setting and noticed that since the portion size is time-based (which it is very quick compared to using my blade grinder and especially compared to the hand mill) the portion size changes depending upon the grind size. Finer grinds more slowly, so you get less coffee on the same portion setting. This actually worked to my advantage as the most coarse setting on "2" cups gave 28g of coffee. Why these almost never come with a "1" cup setting is beyond me. But the finest grind gave only 18g of coffee, which is perfect for a single cup from my AeroPress (though maybe a bit much for other methods). The machine disassembles easily enough, which is good for 2 reasons. First, I don't store my beans in the hopper (and like to switch between regular and decaf) and there's always a bean or two stuck in the burrs. And second, keep the little brush (they really need a holder for it on the side of the machine, I use it every grind), you will use it unless you want a bunch of grounds in the chute getting stale. Especially on the finest setting, the static generated means that the chute is always clogged with grounds that I sweep out so that they don't contaminate the next morning's grind. I do find some grinds flying from the static, but I don't know that you can entirely get away from that (grinding generates static, especially for fine grinds). It hasn't been much of a problem, though I expect it will be worse in the drier winter air. All in all, I'm happy with the grinder. The price was right, it saves a ton of hand grinding, and produces a cup of coffee that is pretty much indistinguishable from one made with much more effort.

Very pleased with the grinder
I have had the grinder for a couple months now and have been nothing but satisfied with it. It is true that I may not be discerning enough to appreciate the nuanced difference between a 00008 grind size and a 00009. It is also true that I am making coffee for either a French press or a drip machine, not espresso. Certainly, for anyone who might read this who could offer me some helpful guidance on grind size selection, I would be sincerely appreciative. Clearly, it's not the $400 grinder, but it is a burr machine that I feel has delivered good value to me. Doesn't make a mess, grinds don't fly everywhere. Compact footprint, and, while noisy, I think that's probably characteristic of a grinder of any kind. Time will tell with respect to long-term durability, but so far so good!

Good product, easy to use - much better grounds than blade grinders
The pros - Very easy to use, just pop coffee beans in the hopper, make sure the collector is in place, select a size for the grounds, and press the power button. The collector comes out easy and its simple to collect the grounds from. We use it in conjunction with a ChemEx pour over. The burr grinding is far preferable to blade grinders and seems very consistent in size of the grounds. Decent price too, don't need to break the bank to have a quality and tasty coffee setup. Cons - The noise level is very high, but unless you are expecting a super high end muffled sound, it's basically just loud like other grinders. Plastic housing doesn't strike me as particularly durable, but I cannot say definitively because we've only had it 2-3 months. For this price, I'd recommend it to others.

Love how it will grind to different levels.
Looks nice, does the job grinding coffee for us to the consistency we need. A little messy when the container is removed but other than that, happy with this.

Not worth it
This is my first burr grinder. I've used a cheap bladed grinder for years and I'm trying to raise my coffee game. Not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars on a grinder, I settled on this one. It's been a few months and I must say it's a letdown. Messy. Coffee dust spews from all sides during the grind. I resorted to encasing it inside a cardboard box. The contraption looks ridiculous on my already cramped countertop. Static issue. The grounds are more interested in sticking to the bin than pouring down into my Chemex. Cleanup is difficult. It's not designed to be taken apart beyond taking the bin out and flipping the lid up. Cleaning the inside is nigh impossible. Lastly, I'm having trouble placing the top burr correctly into the machine as it sounds like the motor is exerting itself for just two scoops of beans. Sometimes, spending a low amount of money is like throwing it out the window. You're back where you started, now with less money. My last two options are A) Return to the humble old grinder or B) Spend hundreds on a top-tier grinder. I love a good coffee but not to that extent... If you're serious about coffee, spend the money or move along.
