It's pretty accurate, and has a flashlight. I like Klein tools, but don't buy this because it is set apart from all the other testers out there. I think it is no step above all the others, it's just a different color and name. They all seem the exact same, except some don't have a flashlight. So if you want to save money, either buy it used or buy another brand. If you want the name, buy it for the name. I felt and heard and saw no difference between this and any of my friends brands and my previous brand tester. Honestly, and like I said I like their tools.

Don’t bet your life

Only for AC current. And I wouldn’t bet my life on this being 100% accurate. But it does work good. You can’t go wrong with a good DVOM with knowledge on how to use it!

Wish It Was A Little Less Sensitive

Valuable tool when working with people who did not color-code their wires. I wish it was a little LESS sensitive. My house is older and some outlets are not well shielded. All I have to do is get close to those outlets and the tester will go red. Same with a set of wires I was testing. Didn't even need to touch the wire for the tester to go red. I had to spread the L and N wires apart at least 10 inches for the tester to NOT go off on the neutral line.

Indispensable tool

Should have bought one of these years ago. This model lives up to its high ratings. It arrived a day early and works great. Indispensable for any DIYer project involving electricity.

Don't do any electrical work at your house without one of these!

If I hadn't had this tool I would have electrocuted myself last weekend! I needed to replace the switch for my dishwasher. I thought that breaker #20 was for the switch and the four outlets next to it. Boy was I wrong. #20 was only for the outlets. If I hadn't had this tool to tell me that the wires to the switch were still live I wouldn't be here to write this review. Like the headline says, don't do any electrical work at your house without one of these, please!

Great pocket mains detector

Great little pocket voltage detector, has 2 ranges for detecting lower voltages from 12vac up with more sensitivity or when you are trying to determine which wire in a group is live the 70vac up range gives less sensitivity, also has separate tip led colours depending on the range selected, also has a fairly bright flash light on the measuring end, so actually lights up what you are trying to work on/test, which is handy unlike on my last fluke tester which had the flashlight on the rear, so it was either a tester or flashlight, and not both which was pretty pointless. Have used it daily for the last few months and has been faultless, accurate, please do always check the wiring is actually off with a second meter to be 100% sure, this is the same with all voltage detectors.

Good if pricey

Good tool, and really handy having a torch in my volt pen. Build is robust and it's hard to think of anything negative to say about it in itself. It does seem a little bit on the expensive side though.

Despite the slightly higher price tag, it's worth the money.

The incorporated torch is surprisingly bright and has proved to be a very useful on more than one occasion. The "no touch" volt tester is easy to use and feels robust in the hand.
