the internal spring breaks

Love these gates because they are simple, electrified (so the horse doesn't push on them), and you don't have a big awkward swinging gate to maneuver. When bringing just one horse out of the herd through the gate, you can make a small space to lead him through so that there is no problem with the other horses thinking they might be able to sneak through, too. But especially in freezing weather, the internal springs break. Pretty expensive in labor and $$ to keep replacing!

Did not last long enough for me.

I bought this one year ago- it is now busted. This is our least used gate so we certainly did not wear it out. If we used it on a daily basis it would never lasted this long I guess. The metal coil just busted so it is no longer retractable. I will stick to the simple rope gates. Not willing to place it again at this cost.

Lasts for a month, until the internal spring rusts and welds itself into a dead weight

terrible. 1) the internal spring rusts within a year and thereafter no longer extends. 2) the plastic guard comes in two pieces and the two halves catch the electric tape which then prevents the tape from retracting.

Tape too short

Sound product but tape length too short to be useful on farm. Needs to be twice the length

Nice electric fence accessory.

I needed a solution for getting the electric fence across my back gate. I live on a pond and frequently go in and out. Everyone is impressed at how easy it is to use. This kit comes with everything you would need to mount it.

Out of the 6 i bought 2 would not retract ...

Out of the 6 i bought 2 would not retract back in holder when pulled out 3/4 of the way. Very unhappy with this product!!!! Mark

easy to use

Simple to install, easy to use. My horses had a bad habit of rubbing on the gate and now they show it plenty of respect! I've had it installed for a couple of months now and it seems to be holding up well.I definitely recommend this gate for the price.

Easy to Install, great concept!

I got this gate for a section of my property I wanted to keep my donkeys out of, but I also wanted to be able to open it easily to move things into that area. This kit comes with everything you need to mount it to a Tpost or a wood post. the directions were easy to understand, everything seems to be quality as far as materials go. I put this up in about 5 minutes! I love the fact that it's 20' long! It's been up for awhile and hasn't lost tension, it looks great and is easy to operate, and my donks respect it.
