Snapped

While tapping the second hole, using what I consider moderate pressure, the tap snapped above the threads. Luckily that left enough to grab and back out. Local hardware store had another brand that cut aluminum like butter and didn't snap for rest of project.

Great value

I always go with Irwin taps and find the precision very good along with good durability. I ordered these #6-32 with matching drill it for under 4 dollars a set mylocal hardware was 5.50 without the matching drill. I work with students that break a lot of taps so these were a great find.

Good, but be careful if you are going to tap harden steel with this...

This tap with included drill bit (7/64") is good for soft metal, plastics, aluminum, and etc. But if you are going to attempt to tap really hard steel, DO NOT use the included drill bit -- because you will end up breaking the tap after making the hole. Instead you will need a larger diameter drill bit -- I'd recommend anywhere from #32 to a 1/8" drill. This will make the tap much easier to work with and less breakage chances. You can thank me later... ;-)

I was half way through tapping 5/64” of Anodized Aluminum when the tap just snapped.

Quality from a brand that delivers

I had bought a set of no-name drill taps that didn’t even come with an accompanying drill bit, and it snapped on my second use. This Irwin replaced it, and I immediately appreciated that it did come with a drill bit. You can tell that it’s made of higher quality materials just by looking at it. Thankfully the Irwin did not snap, and the appropriately paired drill bit made the job much easier. Don’t cheap out and get something that will break. Next time I need a similar product, I’m getting an Irwin.

Only bought cause lowes was out

Very easy to snap. Irwin quality is declining. I recommend using copious amounts of 3 in 1 oil or WD-40. The steel shanks need to be hardened.
