And other statements I've never heard in the bedroom :( Seriously. I didn't think to check the overall size of this thing. It's massive. That's a standard office chair in the picture to provide a size reference. Should provide plenty of leverage and I doubt it will break in the materials I'll be threading. Then again, I haven't actually used it yet. I did try to unthread the holder all the way out. Which brings me to the 4 star rating. I believe the threaded portion of the rod is slightly bent. Every few rotations it binds up. You can force it through, so it's useable, but it's there. The threaded portion does have a hole in the end to put a screwdriver in to help apply extra torque to rotate the bar. It's not bad enough that I'll bother returning it.

Right Tool For the Job

Ordered a set of down force springs for our planter, had several that were not tapped correctly and would not take the screw needed for it to function correctly. Ordered this tap handle and the correct size thread tap with some thread cutting oil. Did what it was supposed to do.

I have a couple different ones. This is one of the favorite. I like the feel, and weight. Great construction

As advertised Large and heavy

I ordered this for a large 5/8 in tap so this one fits like it should the product that I received was not black it was cast Grey not a deal-breaker everything seems relatively strong and straight my 5/8 tap fit really snug in there without wobble this should have no problem with light duty but if you're looking for something for large taps that you use quite often I would go with a steel version and not cast Thanks Its 16 inches long when togther, comes in 2 pieces

Inaccurate size

I'm not sure how they determined the "size" of this tool, but it's clearly not as listed. I don't care what finished size application they had in mind (maybe this is standard BS marketing practice for these tools?), but I bought it to fit a square shank that measures just under 1" on the flats. This product opens to roughly 11/16" max on the flat, though I suspect listed max "hand reamer" capacity of 41/64" is functionally the largest sized flat measurement that will fit. I'll assume the listed 1-1/8" size is the finished size of the tapped hole you are presumably expected to be using this tool for, which is very misleading. Even the casting lists the tool differently as M6-M25 and 1/4" - 1". If measured diagonally point to point it's still only 7/8", about 1/8" short of 1". Not surprising that the seller's own picture shows the back side of the casting, hiding the size markings. Aside from the size issue, it's a really cheap quality casting with some very rough spots on both the cast body and the inner tool holder. As for the length of the handles, they are not very long, but probably adequate for the size and quality of this tool. Haven't tried using it as it's being returned due to the size.
