This is definitely a budget set
Package is very cheap and doesn’t keep taps and drill bits in the slots. They fall all together. I was tapping metal. And not sure if it was a harder metal but I had to take it very slow. Tap didn’t seem to be the sharpest. But again it’s a budget set. I didn’t plan on be something I was going to use a lot.

Not Great
Taps are not great but fair for the money although threads are slightly larger than they should be. However, the Handle is worthless and will not grip the smaller taps. Set is just barely passable for occasional light work. Would have returned but needed it when received.

Brittle
The drills and taps are of very good quality steel: I have yet to snap a tap in a hole. Yet. Once one of them snaps I'll modify the review if needed, but so far I'm impressed. At work I use very nice taps, at home I use cheap taps, and these behave a lot more like the former. I do not like the handle on the tap. The mechanism holding the 'T' handle in the handle broke the first day, which was irritating because a tiny spring loaded part shot off like rocket into a vast floor of sawdust and machinery to be lost forever. But who cares, I didn't see a handle in the picture and didn't realize I was getting one anyway. EDIT: Despite my comments above, this was a 5-star review, but now I've removed two stars because: These taps are brittle. There are few things during fabrication more frustrating than nearly finishing a nice work piece, then having a tap break off into the exact location where you need a screw to be located. Removing a broken tap that has sheared of right at the surface (always happens) is difficult, especially for smaller sizes like 4-40 and 6-32, and those are the ones that snap off easiest. I've been nice to these taps. I use tap cutting oil, go slowly, and back them out a quarter turn every couple turns, and tap straight without wobbling. But these taps break sometimes after only a couple holes. I recommend buying these if you do very little fabrication, or you are only using them for plastic. If you are doing steel, aluminum, or god help you, stainless or tool steel or chrome molly, you had better get a high speed steel (HSS) tap set. They are much better.

Good quality, average performance for the money. Not bad.
I was a little disappointed that the provided tap wrench would not naturally fit the 4-40 bit. If you open the wrench all the way up, jam in the 4-40 bit, then tighten it with some vice grips it will work fine. If it was not for that, I would have given 4 stars. At my work, we sometimes do light machine work. The taps we use are 'Irwin' and they seem to work well. We have a Irwin tap wrench that does fit the 4-40 bits. It must be old or a different model. I have only ever used the 4-40 bits and they work for me. Hardened steel is brittle so do not be surprised to break one in regular use. The drill worked OK for me today at home. I drilled / tapped a 4-40 thread into two steel rods, about 1/2 inch deep hole. I would to expect to need to replace the drill after five or six uses. Steel is just hard on the average drill. If you are careful, the bits will last for some amount of uses. Keep a spare handy for regular use. Good quality, average performance for the money.

Great machine screw drill and tap set for any toolbox
Nice drill and tap set for machine screws. Covers all the sizes you would encounter (for machine screws). Drill bits seem to be very sharp and taps have worked well. Nice kit for any toolbox. Comes with small tap handle.
