Exhaust fan

It seemed to be a quality product, and the louvers open and close well. Good air flow. I'm venting an area that gets damp, keeping things drier.

Great for my 16X24 small engine repair shop

I haven't had anything to dislike yet. It's good on electricity as it only uses 1/2 amp. It easily clears any exhaust fumes in minutes from any engine that I might run in the shop. My shop is under an apartment that I rent out and my renters have said that they don't smell anything from my shop. I just bought it so I can't say how long it might last but it seems to be well-built. I look forward to many years of service from this exhaust fan.

Not enough air

The size is perfect for my shed but not enough force to blow any air out. I put in a larger motor.

I took a chance on this item as the reviews were quite mixed. 1 thing that I saw quite a bit of was that the fan was loud... I bench tested it and it was not quite but it was not making any noises that a fan should not make. It was also not super loud. 2 some were saying it did not move much air... For me, this was not the case. I have a 1900 SQ FT 3/2 house with 2 car garage built in the 60s. My A/C used to run non stop and during the hot parts of the day, the temp in the house would go up not down even with the A/C going non stop. This was in May and June. It is even hotter now and I have the fan set up in my gable vent with a thermostat set to somewhere around 95-105F (give or take a few degs) Fan runs for just over half the day and now my A/C is not running all day long, and as an added bonus I have the attic access open in my garage and my garage is much much cooler as well. I used to walk out and feel a heatwave just under the attic access that is gone now. So in short would I buy this again? 100% yes. Would I recommend this to a friend, again 100% yes. Are there any flaws in this fan? Yes! ok, this one is minor but as some stated on the back of the fan where the wires are trying to punch out the punch outs takes a lot of effort and tends to bend the thin sheet metal around the wiring box.

Generator shed application

I have a 12,000 watt (9500W continuous) gasoline powered generator for backup of power to my house. I build a generator shed similar to the ones on youtube and used this fan to vent the generator heat. The shed leaves about 18" on all sides of the generator. There is a 20 x 20" furnace fan intake vent on one side and this fan on the other. I cranked up the generator and put a 1000W load on it and measured the air temperature coming out. It was 135F at the fan exhaust with 95F air going in. My generator exhaust port is plumbed outside the box to minimize that heat. Ran it for 30 minutes before taking the readings so the should be stable there. I expect the temps to go up with heavier load but maybe 150 to 160F. I did check the typical thermal fuse inside these units and a trip temperature of 130C is common. That is over 210F so there is plenty of room between the air temp and thermal fuse temp. The motor on the fan does not get much hotter than the air going through it. fairly efficient. Noise level was less than I was expecting. not silent but not annoyingly loud either. The generator easily drowns the fan noise.

Works as expected.

I did not install this unit as a Gable mounted fan. I have 2 convection roof vents installed on the roof surface and wanted to have positive air displacement and not just convection. I framed in the areas below these vents and installed two of these automatic Louver fans in those frames. I wired both fans on a single thermostat to operate at 90 degrees or higher and they work perfectly. Because of the angle the fans are on the louvers do not open as much as I wish they would but I have seen a 10 degree drop in the temperature in my attic. The louvers will work well to keep insects and other unwanted critters out of the attic. They also act as a seal for winter operation when venting of the attic can facilitate extra heat loss and higher energy usage for heating.

Doesn't seal off

The flaps are 1/2" from the edge so it doesn't seal off air or rain .

Not durable

I bought this fan in March, 2020. It died in April, 2022. I guess two years is ok, but I would have thought it would last at least 4 or 5 years the way it's described in their ad. It's installed in a 12' x 24' x 8' metal storage building, in central Florida. It does get really hot (100+ degrees) inside the building with no ventilation, but since the building is well-shaded, that doesn't seem excessive overall. The fan's thermostat is set at 80 degrees, and the fan keeps the building about 85 degrees; it turns on at about 10 a.m., and turns off at about 9:00 p.m. The point is, it works well considering its size, fairly easy to install and wire, and my only real issue with it is its short life. All that said, I bought another one of these to replace the dead one, but probably won't buy again if it dies in two years or less again.
