Stream music wirelessly while in the shower or tub in a cleverly designed manner.
This is as honest review as i can give about this item. I was intrigued by the combination of a Bluetooth speaker in an exhaust fan. My concerns were how good the speaker sound would be, would the fan motor drown out the music? After receiving it, the first thing I noted was this is not a small unit. The opening for your ceiling will have to be 10 1/2 " x 11 1/2 inches. it is 7 inches high. With the speaker in, it weighs about 10 pounds. With the unit upside down you have to secure the speaker to one side under a bracket. This was a pain as the positioning has to be just right with two machine screws to grip it just right. It took me several attempts to get it right. The wiring is pretty straight forward with plug in connectors that combine the fan and the speaker wires. This is a 2 wire plus ground assembly 14-2 or 12-2 Romex to a wall switch. As for the installation. if you are changing out an old fan you will have to get into your attic and haul the new unit up there. You will not be able to mount it from below. Broan makes this really for a new install project or major renovation where the ceiling is ripped out. But it can be done as a retrofit with some adaptation. There is only a mounting flange on one side of the unit (a dual one would have been helpful) since my install had the flange opposite to where I could use it. I had to purchase the optional hanging bar kit. The bars are adjustable and screw into the sides of the box with spacers. The bars are meant to slip under the joists as they have an "L" shape to them. In an existing ceiling, slipping them between the joist and the drywall may be impossible, it was for me. I put the "L" side in vice and bent it flat, making it a straight piece.It is just sheet metal so this is very easy to accomplish. This made it much easier to hammer the nail into the side of the joist and secure it. You may still need some wood blocks to add extra stability if you feel the need, not that it is going anywhere. The moment of truth, wired up and flipped the switch. The fan is very quiet. They rate it as a 1.0 Sones level (whatever that means, whoever heard of a Sones. I would prefer a decibel dB rating ). I picked up my iPad and went to the Bluetooth settings, sure enough it appeared and connected easily. it sounds reasonably good for a little stereo speaker crammed into a fan. The background fan sound is not loud at all. The grill is the dumbest part of the whole thing. Nobody thought this one through. look at the picture. It is pretty large and Broan insists on stamping their name on it for you to see. Maybe if this was in a public rest room for advertising, but really in my own bathroom? This is not the worst part though. Broan makes the side frame thick on only on 2 sides to cover the edges. The other two sides have only a thin edge and you can see up to the edge of the drywall through it. It exposes very clearly the drywall edges that in most cases is not going to be perfect if it is sitting on top of the drywall. You will have to sand smooth and maybe paint white the drywall edge. You can't be sloppy on these 2 edges. I suppose this was done as the speaker is against the edge of the box inside and a wider frame could impede the sound flow. Still they could have come up with a more elegant grill pattern. It looks bad looking up into it. 2 stars for the grill. The fan must run with the speaker. There is not a separate way to listen to the speaker without the fan being on. That being said you could divide the wires out of the harnesses and wire them separately if you know what you are doing. It is not a recommended alternative from the company. I think on the next version they should have an option to turn the fan on or off while retaining the Bluetooth capabilities. I think the fan is pretty quiet. If the music volume is moderate it should not be noticeable. Some people's ears are more sensitive and may object to any fan sound. It does not bother me. The music sound is reasonably good. I think it does well in a larger master bathroom. I have 16 feet x 12 feet of space and the sound fills the room nicely. I was pleasantly surprised that something that looks pretty small puts out fairly decent sound. If you are expecting audiophile performance you will be disappointed. Then again Bluetooth is not the way to get superb sound anyway. If you want to listen to music in the shower or in the tub without having to set up a music player on your sink or vanity this is a reasonable way to do it. You of course can steam anything you want to listen to. More expensive ways can always be done with speakers in the ceiling or other areas. This combines 2 functions in one unit with better than average results at a reasonable price.

Phenomenal.
Easy install, I’d say moderate level DIY project only because it involves electrical and you don’t wanna play around with that. Otherwise as soon as it has power, easy setup like any other Bluetooth to your phone or other device. Sound quality is pretty great to be honest. It’s loud and doesn’t get too distorted with out country or rock music at full volume. I could see hip hop having an issue bc they are little speakers and the bass can only handle so much before it sounds distorted. Definitely give it a go, really nice fan too, I have an average size residential bathroom and a really steamy shower, no match, clears it in moments. Even a long stay on the thrown is gone in minutes. ** Personal advice… when you’re don’t using your phone, go to the settings and “forget device” otherwise the next time someone turns the fan on it will reconnect and ANYTHING on your phone will start play…YouTube…. Or other videos/audio. Learn from my mistakes hahaha. **

Fan is louder than expected but moves a lot of air
The media could not be loaded. We had moisture problems in bathroom, so we swapped out a less powerful fan with this one. The fan motor is a bit louder than I expected, but it moves a lot of air out of the room. Definitely helps with shower humidity. The integrated Bluetooth speaker pairs and connects quickly. The audio quality is fine for a smaller room. With the shower head and fan running, you need to crank up the volume a bit to hear the music. But it works well. Note, I have forgotten to "unpair" my phone from the speaker a few times. So if someone hits the fan switch, they might be startled to hear some classic 80's rock streaming from my phone.

Great fan
After installing and hearing a rattling noise I contacted customer support. Come to find out my awesome handyman who installed the fan taped a piece of 4 inch duct in-between the 3 inch and the outlet of the vent fan. Needless to say the rattling noise was the fan trying to push air through a smaller piece of duct into a rigid duct and all duct taped together. Buy 4 inch duct, and do it yourself and save the headache. Now I have to fix my ceiling also where my awesome handyman pushed the drywall down and popped a bunch of screw heads. Great fan. Do it yourself if you want it installed correctly.

Still loud enough to mask ‘some’ torpedo dropping…
Installed it as a replacement. Being that there is a flange on the bottom with ‘wings’ on one of the sides it feels a little janky installing it. I had to get some metal spreader supports since the existing fan was (stupidly) placed in the middle of the joists vs. ip against one… Anyhow, after countless trips back and forth into my attic, flipped it on and I’m assuming it has a ‘slow’ start… otherwise it still sounds like there is some binding in the fan. I’ve taken the fan out, checked for debris, etc. etc. I’m assuming it’s just the ‘airflow’ that is noisy as it seems pretty powerful. I’m a little conflicted on the ‘wings’ for the enclosure. While I couldn’t use them for my install, it might be frustrating if you can’t orient the fan the way you want just to use the wings to mount it. Speaker is good… it would be really cool if you could use them without the fan running, but ehh… The grill is ‘ok’ as well, but the space between the slats allows you to see the shiny metal mount pretty easy. If I ever get bored I’ll probably paint it black or something… Overall it’s ok… for the price I can’t complain all too much.

I bought this one because it had good reviews and I love the idea of having music while taking a shower. The quality of the music is excellent. It’s easy to work from your cell phone.

Speaker sound quality lacks
The media could not be loaded. Fan is robust and quieter than the $21 Braun that lasted 2.5 years. The sound quality is sub par for the higher rated reviews I read in regards to sound . Its Kinda disappointing. I did not expect BOSE sound.

Pretty good!
Was quite easy to install. Does a much better job of clearing our bathroom from steam than our old fan. The sound is pretty good, considering how it sounds over the fan itself and the sound of a shower running. You can't hear the treble super-well but I think that's just a consequence of the unavoidable noise from the fan itself (which isn't *too* noisy, but I also wouldn't call it "quiet" exactly) and the high-pitch white noise from the shower. Overall, I recommend it. The sound is plenty good enough for showering and can go quite loud.

Noisy Not 1.0 Sones
The media could not be loaded. This system is better installed in a new build, everything is awkward from the electrical to the duct side. This unit is bigger than most, so be aware of that. The speaker installation is a joke. The screws do not hold it in place, I had to use a self tapping screw to fasten it sturdier. The CFM is really good has a lot of suction, room was cleared in a couple minutes of having a shower. This unit is NOISY!! This is definitely not 1.0 sones. I have installed many fans and this noise level is 2.0 Sones so beware if you are stepping down from a 2.0 sones you will notice no difference. I was a little upset about that! The speaker system sounds really good for what it is. The sound comes out nice and clear with no distortion even on heavy drum parts. I will mention you will have to turn the volume up to get over the fan. I hope Broan fixes this noise issue as this would be a great unit to put into new builds without having to wire separate Bluetooth in.
