Retrofit Replacement
This is the third model of the heater I've had in house. The overall dimensions and connections have remained consistent. These are not cheap considering the basic purpose of the product, but was advantageous to replace with a matching product. The model being replaced lasted approximately 9 years and was used multiple times/day on a daily basis. Two comments that I'd add: -ONLY ON A "GUT FEEL" basis, this unit does not seem to get (the water) as hot as the replaced unit. Unfortunately I did not get a pure temp reading on output on the older model before it died (leaking seriously) -The copper pipe for incoming water was considerably shorter on this one than previous models, which meant I had to fabricate more copper pipe to connect, rather than just connecting. This took extra expense and time (and trip to plumbing supply store). IF THIS IS A NEW INSTALLATION, this point is irrelevant as you're having to buy pipe and fittings anyway. If you're replacing a similar unit, keep the shorter in mind.

Its new, I'm cautiously optimistic, and I took some precautions
Well, if you read the reviews you see that these instant hot water tanks aren't perfect. I've had mine installed for about a month and I am fairly happy. The spigot isn't very tall and so if you want to fill a teapot, the sink should be free of dishes! Even though the instant fittings supplied seemed pretty good, I still was leery of instant fittings under the sink and so I used compression fittings. No leaks and I know I am not relying on Buna O-rings! (This probably voids the warranty but all things taken in to account, I sleep better at night with this change.) It seems that for this device, after reading all of the reviews, it is not a question of if the unit will fail, but when. To that end I found a Rubbermaid Roughneck container lid that fit the bottom of the sink cabinet perfectly. Any leaking water will collect in the lid. I also picked up a little $14 water alarm from Home Depot and mounted it in the lid. If I ever have a leak, I should get ample warning. I have to say that I wish Emerson/Insinkerator would get the message that folks get nervous when installing things that have the potential to cause property damage, even if installed by pros. They need to offer a lifetime warranty on the tank, which I would hope would cause them to figure this out and make a better product. Perhaps a filter cartridge with SiliPhos (anti-scale) would help? The product also has insufficient insulation. On the flip side, it is now warm enough under my sink so that the hand pump soap containers I have stored under the sink do not thicken up in the cold of winter. I have two built in soap dispensers on the sink (hand and dish soaps) with hoses that run down to the store-bought bulk containers of hand and dish soap. Perhaps an ancillary effect of the heat loss is that the cold water part of the HC-View seems less cold and more lukewarm. Interestingly I see that Insinkerater now offers a refridgeration unit for really cold water. For me this kind of addition (the refridgeration unit) really causes me to balk as Emerson/Insinkerator is now asking me to add yet another unit under the sink. This sounds like I am unhappy with the product, but I am not. From a usability standpoint I really like the instant hot water. I'm not very thrilled with the implementation from a technological standpoint. All of this was driven by the fact that for the last eleven years we were getting bottled water delivery and we want to do away with this. My bottled water cooler has lasted forever with never a failure and dispenses 180F plus hot water and 40f cold water (ok, I never measured the cold water, but it feels darn cold). I'm tired of paying $500/year in bottled water delivery and I am less than certain it keeps my family from being exposed to glitches in the municipal supply or BPA from the bottles. I'm a little more confident (perhaps I have the wrong impression here) that my AquaPure water system with its carbon and submicron filtering does a better job.

Faucet reach is too short
We have used Insinkerator side taps forever. We recently moved so needed a new one and were very disappointed at the size of the included faucet. To get one that actually comes out over the sink we'd have to buy a separate one that costs a LOT. We use the boiling water to brew iced tea in a gallon jug. First problem with the faucet is we have to prop the jug at a tilt to keep it under the tap. Second problem, you cant prop a cup on the handle to keep it on because the handles are so short. Also, the cold water doesn't stay on without holding it. This is an expensive item - you'd think having a decent faucet would be standard.

Good Unit, But Some Install Details Not Included
Got this as a replacement for a 7 year old GN1100. Quite a few changes in the new unit. Has a longer warranty now than the old unit. Nice having the thermostat control on the outside of the tank case, easily reachable without having to climb into the sink cabinet and remove a panel to make adjustments. This model of the new unit doesn't come with a filtration system, but easily connected to the old filtration system (cleaned the lines and installed a new filter for good measure). Comes with a newly designed dispenser (aka faucet)... couple of issues with that. The new dispenser looks nice. But it is not as tall, does not swing to move out of the way, and does not hang out over the sink quite as far... just be aware. The new dispenser handle has a little flex to it, but solid enough if you're not standing on it. Also new hoses and connectors that make installing easier and less likely to leak... but won't work with an older tank unless you change them. Better to go with all the new components. The new dispenser has a new brass mount incorporated in the bottom, with a large plastic nut to draw the dispenser snug on the countertop. This works fine if your countertop or sink isn't very thick (3/4" or less), but if you have thick granite (mine is 1 1/4") this unit comes with a 3" plastic sleeve to lengthen the mount. The sleeve requires a 1 1/2" hole though, and would not fit the hole in the granite. I spent a couple of days trying to figure out how to make the hole bigger, like honing it or something. Checked with the suspects (ACE, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.), called some kitchen contractors, anyone for ideas... the right people & tools for the job are expensive. Then I had a light bulb moment... DUH! Barely sandpaper off about 1" length of the sleeve's outside threads, just enough to make it fit. Secure the dispenser, connect all the lines, reopen the water line to fill the tank, open the dispenser to get the air out of the system, and plug in the tank. 5 minutes later... works perfectly. Your mileage may vary, batteries not included, and of course... no wagering.

Love it
We haven’t used it much by we love it. I like the way you can control the heat. Had to get a electrician to bring power plug to underneath my kitchen sink .

Water is hot, but makes a bit of noise
This is quite easy to install. Works as advertised. I really suggest pairing this buddy with a filter. This might prevent the wear issues people experience with high mineral water. When you release the Hot valve, the system makes a weird vibrating noise. It also makes a bit of noise when water is getting to boiling point. Although this is normal, they could’ve better insulate the boiler to my opinion.

Solid product
Used to own insinkarat product for 10 years, bought again for hot and cold line model. After expend the hole on my marble countertop which takes 2 hours. The installation is just take 20 mins. Solid product. Expensive product but you got for what you pay. The only manufacturer defect is the soft white tube is not 100% sealed with hot water tank . It is very easy to leak air. If it happen , the tank will make a loudly noise. So you need to push tube several time by hand until the noise dispear.

Couldn't be happier
Great product. Most challenging part would be getting the proper drill bit to cut open the counter top for the dispenser. Everything else is easy. Its plug and go so you don't need to mess with any electrical work if you have plug underneath the sink. I would recommend getting the water filter that you can install along this. Using this has been a bless. Making tea/coffee has never been easier. Boiling water for cooking is so much faster too.

Easy install
Small problem with install. Copper pipe to connect water was too short requiring additional length. Otherwise easy install.
