Sealing air caps.

I had read the reviews and it and decided not to buy it mostly because of the sealing issues and the squirrel type fan they use, but my wife bought it without my knowledge. So I decided how hard could it be to install ? Take my word for it, I’m not sure anybody could come up with anything more stupid as far as sealing around it. 1. Foam inserts are about 1/4” higher than the seals on the top and bottom that are factory place. 2. The edges of the fan unit are not square therefore when the butt the inserts up against the side you have a very nice bug doorway all you need is a little food for them and you can take some nice pictures. If they would just extend the factory seals on all four corners to about an 1” they would at least solve this problem. 3. If you need to place additional inserts against each other for large window you can have even more gaps for bugs, “come on in I welcome you!”. 4. If you do need to install the inserts make sure to grow an extra arm for each,,plus one to hold the unit. In the end, I bought some good two side tape and some 1” square light foam from the hardware store. This helped to finally get it sealed. Pros: 1. Seem to close a baffle when powered down, hopefully this keeps bugs out, can’t really see how well the baffle seals without dismantling it. 2. Fairly quit. 3. Quality good. 4. If you want a nice simple and quiet breeze flow it not to bad. Cons: 1. Sealing, just plan Stupid, no really stupid! 2. Exhaust power ( What I really needed it for). If I were to rate it with a score from 1-10, I’d give it a three, I would not buy this squirrel type fan for exhaust purposes, but remember my wife bought it, and I must keep my mouth shut, and my eyes from rotating to the back of my head at all times which is the true secret of a good marriage. The only reason I did not give it lower than a 3 is most of the lower reviews are always purchasing, condition, and quality issues, which I had no problems with any of these, but I wanted people to read my review.

Love this fan

This fan is awesome! I was looking for a window fan for my bedroom that did not allow a lot of light in like a standard window fan does. This fan fits the bill. It also has a very good air flow and keeps the room comfortable. My only dislike is the foam pads. They are a nuisance to put in place, I would much prefer the slide out sides.

Good for what it is

It takes up less room in the window which is nice. Its pretty quiet but it does make some moderate noise but its a lot quieter then traditional motor fans. Its slightly weak on the side handles. I already broke a handle on the side so don't lift it up with one hand, you will snap the handle slightly, however that does not effect performance. Its decent build quality and not all that cheap. Great fan. Pun intended

Decent, but annoyance items

Overall, nice unit. Not the most powerful but that also enables it to be fairly quiet. As someone else pointed out, the design doesn't maximize the internal fan's ability to move air. The air diverter has a huge gap around it that actually reduces the fan's capability. Given how cheap the fix is - it should be addressed in the design by the manufacturer. The other item are the "blocks" that are used to help fill the balance of the window's opening where the unit is installed. Unfortunately, the area designed to be pushed into the window track is smaller (width wise) than the area it is intended to seal and they are tall enough that it leaves a pretty large gap. Thus, bugs and air can easily move through those gaps (much larger than you'd expect, had they kept the full width throughout - this would not be an issue). While the design flaws aren't insurmountable, they are ridiculously cheap to resolve and it would then make this unit a *very* nice option. At this price point, one shouldn't have to perform any "fixes" - it should really just be a case of install and use. Overall, the unit seems sufficiently built for its purpose and would expect to get at least a couple years out of it. The design flaws are addressed in the overall rating. Hopefully the manufacturer reads these reviews and resolves them - as this unit's design is particularly nice and with those things addressed would put it ahead of any other option by a long shot.

Quite, powerful

I personally only use this is my game room. My PC pumps out a lot of heat and I typically use the exhaust mode. I had no issues with fitment The fan moves plenty of air as a fan or as an exhaust fan. It’s pretty quite and sometimes I forget it’s even running. Only thing i wish was different is the plug, if it had a flat plug rather than a standard plug this thing would be perfect.

I gotta say.. I'm a FAN! (I'm here all week, tip your waitri) So, getting this was a risk, but I didn't want to replace my 5th window fan with the same version, so I looked around and found this one, and even though the description clearly said that it was not for vertical use, I took the dive anyway. And, Ta Da!! Works like a charm! I run a window fan 24/7, 365, so we'll see how it hold up, but so far I'm impressed. Easy to install (the foam thingies were a head scratch at first) and I feel like it moves considerably more air than the dual fan version it replaced. I like the way it looks, and it's quiet. Pretty much everything I was looking for in a window fan.

Air flow is good, Air leaks . Great both can be improved with a little engineering

This unit changes Air flow direction and close by using a round shutter that rotates around the blower. The shutter has a 1" gap at the bottom and 1/2" on the top the full length of blower inside the unit. If you add high strength stick on highdensity rubber stripping on top and bottom, Air flow increases alot and Air leaks are almost gone when off. $15 worth of weather stripping added to the inside and this unit is so much better. Disclaimer I'm not an engineer but I play one at work.

Seems to work really well.

Surprised how this is holding up. I'm using it to replace a header about a door in a small outdoor garden studio and it's fantastic. The reverse airflow means it can help to dry out the space during times of high humidity and also provides some cooling when its hot. I'm impressed. Not loud at all.

The units electronic on/off switch negated the additional Alexa plug I wanted for operation on my front porch Have to manually turn on off (I know it sounds Wimpy but) I have set my entire home up with voice activated applications I use @ home or away

Works great so far. Perfect size for smaller windows. Not the most quiet, but tolerable on the low setting for overnight.

Kind of cool squirrel cage fan

Like how it works. Air flow is Reversible and when powered off closes the opening so may be good when cold or hot outside to stop air you don’t want. Expensive but quiet and moves allot of air. Installation is in a vertical 44” window so needed a plastic AC unit panel to fill the extra length.
