Did not fit into 24" double hung vinyl window
First off, this fan is great. It quickly removes the excess humidity from showering. Like the low profile and it looks great in our bath room. While the specs say it fits a 24" window and up, not quite so in my case. I tried to mount it into a 24" double hung vinyl window frame without success Unfortunately they don't make a smaller fan of this type, so I made it fit. The vinyl inner window channels needed to be cut out 1/4" length wise on each side for the fan to sit into the window frame securely enough for the window bottom to hold the fan in position. I trimmed out the vinyl window channels with a dremel cutting tool. It now sits in the window more securely. The foam pads didn't help because I have about 3/8" opening on each side. The supplied gap filler pads are dense and don't compress. So I purchased some AC open cell insulation foam, cut it down, then stuffed it into the openings. After all this work, I sure hope this fan holds up.

You’re Paying For Design, Not Fan Blow/Exhaust
I did read all reviews. And I hesitated to make this purchase simply due to cost. But I was hopeful. And knowing some negative reviews are written due to not reading directions or just to be negative I took a leap and bought 2. We need 2. We have wide open air flow in all 4 sides of the home due to being on a 100 acre grape farm. And we live on a huge lake, reviving west winds daily without fail. But we do have an older home where air flow was not considered back in the 50s. Having 2 fans to pull in cool air in the am and exhaust warm air late afternoon/evening is essential to keep the house in our comfort zone. Those $25 box fans at Walmart are excellent due to force of air movement. But they don’t fit in windows and they are beyond tolerable with noise. The $50 dual window fans are ideal as they exhaust and pull in air but not with a switch - you have to manually reverse them, they take up 2/3 of window view and allow rain to enter the home thru the vent. Yes, we can use AC but in our state, the first $100 of the bill is all the fees and the companies have elevated their pricing over 30% in last 2 years. So, we need two fans that bring in the air but also exhaust it to stay within our budget. 1- These fans DO work. We can’t find anything negative to say about that. During a warm day I reversed 1 fan facing west to exhaust warm air and pull in the cool AM air. It was 82 outside, 68 inside. Very comfortable. By midday, it was warming up inside so I started the 2nd fan. It was 86 outside, 72-74 inside. Still very comfortable. In the evening as the sun set, we reversed the air flow of both fans to bring in cool air from the outside. It was 76 outside by 9pm, 68 inside. And by midnight, it was 72 outside, 65 inside. 2- Noise is minimal. You can hear the fan when on. There are 2 settings - low, mid and high. At the highest level the fan is at a comfortable noise level. Can’t hear it throughout the house. Hubby likes it because it’s subtle white noise that helps him sleep. 3- Installation is a beast. The installation of the foam side pieces included with the fan is the worst brain idea of any human I’ve seen in a long time. One would think a designer/manufacturer would incorporate the slide left/right shields to fill the gaps on the sides we see in other larger fans. Nope. It’s multiple sided poorly made foam pieces. And if you ever played with the toy that has shape holes and plastic shapes to fit inside - or the game Perfection - this install process takes you right back there. Inserting the fan into the window takes less than 30 seconds. Installing the foam inserts so they fit right and actually stay in place takes the better part of a half hour. And if you remove the fan completely due to a cold spell for a few days, you will dread having to reinsert it. Hubby got scolded for removing the fan I spent an hour installing. He is now ordered to put a pillow in front of the fan if he doesn’t want the cool air to enter the room. 4- The cost is absurd for this unit. This is a $25 to $30 fan. Not $70plus. You are paying for the slim low sitting profile. There is no remote or Bluetooth option. We are ok with that. But given the force of air flow in and out as far as the motor is concerned, it equates to a small $20 desk fan. We aren’t sure if we are keeping. We need to give it another week or two when the summer weather is at its truest level in temperature. I should also note we bought new but received used, too. Since these do not come from an Amazon warehouse but from a private seller, shame on the seller for passing off used items as new at new cost. Just my opinion.

An okay option in a field of bad options
Most window fans look quite bad and can take away from the aesthetic of a space. This unit doesn’t look so bad though in my opinion it’s not a masterpiece of industrial design. Practically speaking the design isn’t as tall as the competition allowing for you to get more visible window space. Note that even though the handles are red in the photos, the unit is actually grey thankfully. It’s made of bulky plastic and I think the unit could be even lower profile with some tweaks to the design. Installing the window fan wasn’t difficult but in order to get a more sealed setup, I used some adhesive foam to fill in the gaps. I wish that the foam inserts where a bit more optimized, but they get the job done 90% of the way. I also wish that the fan’s foam components covered the entire length of the fan. Instead there are gaps on the left and right on both the top and bottom. The fan lets in a decent amount of air even when it’s off depending on how windy it is outside. I’d prefer if the fan had a way to completely seal shut when turned off. In the long term I’m worried about whether it will let in bugs. I may need to add a bug screen to the outside of the fan. I do also wish that the fan had some level of smarts and could connect with Alexa or Apple HomeKit. Because of the nature of the fan being able to pull air in or out, I often need to change directions or turn it on and off depending on the weather. So it’s a bit annoying to have to go upstairs and click the buttons manually. I plugged it into a smart plug so I can at least turn it off manually but keep in mind that turning the plug back on will not turn the actual fan back on. It will only reset the fan position within. So it is a good idea to turn a smart plug off then back on again to get it back to a normal off position. The cable is very tough and difficult inelegant. Would prefer if it was a round braided cable.

Returned 2 units . Not able to fit . Less than 1/4 inch to large for new standard window opening. If you do not have larger than minimum opening exact size may not fit . Measure carefully. Thank gos for return policy
