Hose is much stiffer that I would have liked ... and does not fit Bosch orbital sander
This is an interesting little kit. The hose is much stiffer that I would have liked, but it works ok The design seems robust enough to hold up well. I am NOT lowering my rating of this product as a result of what I'm about to say because it is NOT the fault of the product that it did not pan out.... but I say this only to warn you if you are contemplating purchase for the same reason I was: I bought it to use (just) the hose to connect my Bosch orbital sander to my small portable shop vac. This was based on a suggestion by another Amazon customer (not the mfg.) NEITHER end worked out for me ... the hose did not connect to the sander (either with or without the included adapter), and while this product comes with a shop-vac adapter neither fitting size worked with my 4-gallon shop vac. Again this is NOT the products fault ... just a warning... ;-)

I am way more impressed than I expected to be.
I bought this for sanding in our basement, with the hopes that it would at least make a little bit less mess than normal hand sanding. I hooked this up to my 16 gallon Ridgid vacuum, with a filter bag in it, and set my wife to work while I followed behind with the hand sander to cleanup delicate areas in corners or heavy stuff she missed. Just doing the corners and tough spots, I ended up coated in dust. She could have gone to town when she was done. It didn't drop a spec of dust and it had so much suction it would stick to the wall when not being held. In fact, the suction was so high, I had to put a finer screen on it because my wife couldn't slide it with 100 grit. I am very happy with this product, and won't sand drywall again without it.

Quality pole sander for dust control
I'm not a professional production taper, but I am a professional carpenter that does some patch/tape/paint as a part of my work in my 15 year career. Don't listen to the naysayers and homeowners. This sander works and it was designed for professionals. It isn't a production tool. In a production setting there is either very little dust control and no need for vacuums while sanding--OR--the tapers will use electric sanders with vacuums. A vacuum pole sander is just too slow for that kind of work. What it is good for is sanding small to large patches and small projects. A hand vacuum sander of any kind is going to make you sweat. Its harder to sand than a non-vacuum sander. And the degree of dust control is primarily going to be determined by what tier shop vac you use. For me, I'm running a Hilti VC-150-6X which runs at around $1,000. But if you're running a $100 Ridgid, expect more dust. Another thing is to use a good hepa filter and a hepa bag. It makes a big difference. I can't pack around a big electric sander, but this will fit in my rig and take up almost no space. Back to the tool. This is exactly what I'd expect from Hyde. Its quality. The pole and the sander look like they're designed to last. The hose is just plastic and feels kinda cheap. There is one hose adapter for it. --but I didn't buy it for the hose. The sanding pads that it came with are quality Mirka sanding pads. I've heard that you can't use your run-of-the-mill sanding pads on these, a minor inconvenience. I'm fine buying the Mirka pads. I tried it out on a 4x10" project. I'd say it ate about 80-90% of the dust. I ran a air purifier that automatically kicks on if the dust gets bad, and it didn't kick on. Sanding with this is going to take some getting used to, and you cannot sand sideways with it or it will scratch the surface. If Hyde wants to improve on this, they should make a circular version of it with circular pads.

Simple concept, good for occasional DIY use
This isn't a tool a contractor would use every day, but it's a good option for the occasional DIY small job. It's only as good as the connections and shopvac it's attached to, in other words, without a complete 100% seal and better shopvac filters than come standard, expect some dust, as drywall dust is very fine. The reach and use is limited by the hose. Still requires wearing a dust mask.

Worth ever cent
We are redoing the kitchen and I wasn’t looking forward to the mess of sanding drywall. I’m not a professional, but have done enough that I know how much of a mess plaster dust is. This thing works great, pulls so hard it will stick to the wall (picture included) if you let it. Pros- 99% of dust goes in the vacuum, this means you can see what you are doing better. Your screens last longer. The clean up is non existent Make sure you vacuum filter is clear, and a dust bag in the vacuum really helps not just blow the dust out the back Otherwise, this thing is amazing and well worth the money

Works well
Really keeps the dust to a minimum. Saves you from cleaning all the dust that drifts all over.

It really does work.
Works great once you get used to maneuvering it. I don't think it gets 99% of the dust but it's pretty close.

A must have for sanding drywall compound
After using this, I will never sand drywall compound without it. The dust is kept WAY down. Hooked mine up to the shop vac and was amazed at the reduction (almost elimination) of dust under the area and in my lungs. Big pieces will still chip off and hit the ground, but the dust reduction is way way reduced. The only issue is the hose limits your movement and often (but not always) seems to be in the way, and of course you have the shop vac in your way but this negative is hugely offset by the dust reduction. I am not a pro but only a do it yourselfer who used this on my house and my sisters, so far it has held up well. Of course you will need more of the sanding pads than what it came with.

Split
The puberty vacuum connection arrived split so sander is useless for what it is intended

Works well
I have been restoring a centry house and have battled drywall dust all over everything and in my face when sanding over head. This tool has greatly helped reduce the dust, especially from over head. I have a good variable syction vacuum which also contributes to the effectiveness. It is a pain working with the hose but better than all the dust. It would be nice if the hose was a few feet longer. I've not regretted this purchase as I have much more drywall sanding to do and this helps keep the mess and dust to a minimum.

Solid Construction poor design of suction control
Works well minimizing sanding dust proper adjustment of suction valve difficult can't see valve opening properly when setting.

Great for keeping dust down
Nice and lightweight and easy to use even with vacuum hose attached, when used with vacuum really good at keeping the dust under control, and all for a very good price.

Amazing tool
I bought this to prove it wad too good to be true. I am actually mad at my self I didnt purchase this before. Is a little bit harder to sand with the vaccum hose but is worth it 100%. If you can"t catch all the dust you are sanding too fast or your vaccum is not strong enough. It did catch 100% for me.
