Replaces Dual Slider Switches for Ceiling Fans with 3 Speed Settings. Straightforward Installation.

Bought this to replace a similar Casablanca switch that broke. It comes with a ground wire. Pros: 1. The light dimmer has a nice solid click when you turn the light off, letting you know it is indeed off. The old switch didn't have this feature and sometimes, we would inadvertently leave a ceiling light glowing dimly. 2. Perfect replacement for Casablanca dual slide switches with three speed settings: low, medium and high. 3. Straightforward installation. Cons: 1. Like similar switches, it takes up a lot of room in the electrical box. Pushing the wires and switch back was challenging for us. We have one of the old style boxes that taper. 2. Wires are stranded instead of solid. Tips: 1. If you have a crowded box like we did and getting to the ground wires is daunting, use a ground clip on the front edge of the box to make the ground connection (assuming you have a metal box). 2. There are 4 wires that need to be connected: Black (AC power), Green (ground), Red and Blue. The red and blue wires supply power to the ceiling light or fan. If your existing wires are not the same color to determine which is for the fan and which is for the light, after turning off the breaker or removing the fuse and connecting the new AC and ground wires, remove the wire nut from one of the remaining two connections and separate the wires. (Don't touch the neutral (white) wires. They are not involved. Switches turn the hot wires on and off.) 3. Turn the power back on and using your new switch, see whether the fan or light works. Whichever works is still connected and the other is the one you disconnected. 4. Turn the breaker off or remove the fuse. Connect the red wire to the wire that supplies power to the light and the blue wire that supplies power to the fan. 5. Carefully fold the wires back into the box and push in the switch. Secure the switch in the box with the screws provided. 6. Turn the power back on. If everything is ok, reinstall the cover plate. Do not over tighten the cover plate screws. It is easy to crack p,ad tic cover plates.

Easy to replace

Unfortunately we had to replace two of these over the years because the control knobs break way too easily. Luckily they are relatively easy to replace, but wish they were sturdier in the first place.

Does the job

I installed a new fan that didn't have a remote - I also didn't want one. But, I wanted to control the light and fan without pulling chains (it's over a bed). This switch does the trick. Because it controls both the light and the fan the two switches are a bit tight but if I use my fingertips it's fine. Just make sure you have the extra wire in your electric box before you buy this or it won't work.

Needs more speeds

First of all, it works. Slide dimmer is full range. The dimmer has an extra switch detent at the bottom for full off, with no wasted electricity. You cannot save the previous position, when you switch off the light. The fan switch has run positions 1 through 3. Position 3 is full speed, Position 2 is slow speed, and position 1 is nearly worthless, as the fan turns so slowly it does nothing useful. In fairness, I do not have Hunter fans, so possibly they work differently with Hunter fans. I bought this to replace my previous full range speed control that caused the fans to hum. This control creates no fan hum. No remote control feature.

This worked perfectly for replacing a switch where one of the slider prongs broke off. Works well.

Works well

Easy to install. Only thing is the tabs on the switch seem like they will break off if you aren’t careful. Adults using probably not an issue. But if you’ve got kids they might break the tabs for the switch if they push to aggressively.

This is a good switch, just have to be easy when using or the switches will break.

May have to buy more

I recently purchased a home that is 7 years old that has these switches throughout the house. This is the first one that I had to replace as the control "slide" failed. Seems like a great product but upon closer inspection of others in the house, the "slides" that failed on the one I replaced look like they are also on their way out. I may look at another option when replacing the others; which will break.

Works very well with Hunter Fan

Very sturdy and quality product, piece of advice. U need to have a seperate line running from fan light and fan to the switch, in order to control the light and fan independently from switch.

Poor quality

After just a year and a half, the toggle for the light switch broke off. It is cheaply made and didn't last. I also don't know why Hunter made this switch in this color; I knew when buying it it wasn't white but it looks really cheap since you can't get a wall plate to match.
