Open box, good product

This was an open box item available at a reduced cost. Small crack in unit but does not affect unit working properly.

Just what I needed!

My ice maker stopped working so I called the number in the refrigerator to have a serviceman come out and repair it, which results in a recording listing off places in the general area that are certified to assist. I called all of them, but each time I was told that it would be several weeks and in some cases was told that they could not assist me at all. I eventually decided to replace it on my own. After doing some research to find the model that was compatible with my fridge, I found the model I needed available on Amazon with Prime shipping (bonus!). This overall replacement is super easy. As a piece of advice - you do not need to completely remove the screws that attach the mounting bracket to the inside of the freezer. Just loosen them up and the old ice maker will lift out. You can then easily slide the new one in in its place. Overall the removal and installation took about 15 minutes and I had ice shortly thereafter!

Works well, but look to see if you need a leveling bracket before purchasing.

Great, but missing the leveling bracket the original ice maker had. The leveling bracket may be necessary -- it the ice maker is not installed level front to back the ice maker may not produce a full load or cube sizes may vary. If the ice maker is not installed level side to side, lopsided cubes may form. There is no other way to level the ice maker from side to side without the bracket, so be sure this will work for your application if your floor and refrigerator are not perfectly level. Otherwise a good replacement product. PS -- we've read elsewhere on appliance tech blogs that these sorts of ice makers last only about 3-4 years and that it's best to replace the entire unit rather than whatever component may have failed. It's good to know that I can replace the $100 ice maker in the $2000 fridge rather than have to replace the entire fridge.

This was a perfect replacement for my Kenmore model 253

***update*** After working great for just under 1year, the ice maker control board is now malfunctioning, requesting water too often and causing water to overflow. Seller only offers returns for 30 days. This was a perfect replacement for my Kenmore model 253.56602400 Fridge/Freezer. Wasn't too difficult to install and has been working GREAT for the past 6 months. Hopefully writing this review doesn't jinx that! This item was actually an entire kit that came with a hose, ice tray, and other parts that I didn't need. My only negative was the description didn't indicate that, but the main Ice Maker was there and has been working great.

Works great!

I got this to replace the one that came with my fridge and broke after 3 years. This was easy to install and works perfectly. Only gave 4 stars because when it arrived the front plastic cover was cracked. I'm not sure who's fault that is but I didn't care since I just used the old ones cover but if you are going to use this as a new one it might be worth noteing.

! I replaced it myself !! Proud I am ! The hard part was getting to the two 1/4 inch screws that hold the icemaker to the inside sidewall of my freezer....the non-working icemaker's "fingers" were partially extended, and blocked access to those screws....so.....once I finally got them backed-out some, the unit was easily removed....the new one went in with little difficulty since its "fingers" were laying flat, out of my way....oh....how-to videos gave me the push I needed to try this....????
