Thought i was purchasing a Genuine (AMERICAN MADE) GE OEM part , But is MADE in china, and didn't come with plastic cover as shown in picture , If I'd known that, I could have purchased somewhere else for half the price! With free SHIPPING !!!

OEM GE Part. Works just like it should
I purchased this as a replacement for my 21 year old refrigerator. I have replaced this part twice before. The last time I tried a cheap part that leaked water past the valve just like the old part. Decided to spend the money on a genuine part. It works perfect, no more leaking water down the back side of the freezer. The wife is happy.

Fixed the problem!
My icemaker stopped working which began as water dripping out of the door bin, then progressed to a total freeze and no ice production. Defrosting didn't help. The problem was caused by a weeping solenoid valve like this replacement. Replacement is relatively easy if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. But it is crammed into a tight space in the rear bottom of the fridge. Trace the incoming water line to find it. Note that this is a "universal" valve with push connectors instead of screw-on nuts with crimp type ferrules as originally equipped. That means the plastic tubes have to have their old ends trimmed off to fit into the push connectors. The plastic tubes are different sized so they are hard to screw up on reinstallation. BUT HANDLE THOSE TUBES WITH CARE! They become embrittled due to the heat of the nearby compressor motor. If you do crack the line, it can be spliced with a similar push connector and some replacement tubing from Home Depot. One of the sizes is readily available 1/4". But the other size is 5/16" which is unobtanium at any home center or plumbing supply house. Don't ask me how I know!

It would be nice if they sold the older style that actually fit ...
This is the second one of these that I replaced in my Monogram built in fridge. Both times the problem I had was that not much water came out of the dispenser and there was a lag from when I turned on dispenser and when water came out spout indicating a leak at the valve. It's a real pain to replace because you're working in a narrow space under the fridge and it's hard to reach and hard to see. Also GE modified the design of this part since my fridge was made and I had to cut off half of the plastic splash guard over the electrical connectors and one end of the metal bracket to get it to fit. It took me a while to figure that out the first time around, but this time I knew to get out the snips and made it fit right away. It would be nice if they sold the older style that actually fit without having to modify, but now that I know what to do this is fine.

Worked Great! -- Once again.... AMAZON TO THE RESCUE!
This was a random "We need it NOW" purchase I made while visiting my family. After doing some research online I was able to find the part that was needed to fix the ice Maker. When I figured out it was available on amazon I immediately clicked order (upgraded shipping) and was like... "IT'LL BE HERE TOMORROW!" Everyone cheered and chanted my name... and then we had a party in my honor! (Ok.. Well. it wasn't in MY honor... but we DID have a Party! haha!) Anyway, the item was exactly as expected and we got it up and running just in time for the party the following day! :) Very satisfied with this purchase! THANKS AMAZON!

That was really easy! No repairman necessary.
Thought it was too good to be true since it was 1/3 the price listed at Appliance sites and GE on-line. But it wasn't, it was perfect. The water in the front door dispenser is so much faster now and the icemaker started working again. Started with a a small pool of water the formed in the front of the refrigerator. Took a bit to figure out that there was a pin-hole leak in the blue plastic portion of the dual solenoid value. Found this part on line. Genuine GE part,; better than the original that needed fittings. It came very quickly after ordering. Took me 15 minutes to put it in. The quick connect connections are wonderful. The only issue is that the device attaches with a screw and a metal hook on the frame. This one was slightly different so I redriled the hole for the hook and it worked perfectly. Enjjoying cool water again!

GE WR57X10051
This product is a genuine GE Double Solenoid Water Valve. I wish I would have known that this was all I needed to fix my ice maker 3 years ago. My ice maker was "overcyling" and would overfill the ice tray when filling with water. We were seeing water on the floor outside the fridge/freezer and everything in the freezer was wet with icicles forming from the water. I had an "expert" repairman come out and tell me that it would need a new ice maker and the cost of repair would be $325. I told him I'd buy a new fridge before spending $325 to fix an ice maker. I finally decided to do some research to try to fix the problem and happened on this product. This product installed easily in 5 minutes with no special tools other than a nut driver, and I had my first batch of ice in less than an hour with no more water issues in the freezer.

Easy cheap fix for a big problem
As others have noted, an old weeping solenoid valve will cause all kinds of problems, like icing up the inside of your freezer, clogging the water tube into the freezer, and water drooling out of the back of the unit and puddling on the floor and below; it may not be obvious that the old valve is leaking because it doesn't take much to cause all these symptoms. For the price and ease of replacement, certainly a no-brainer. A comment about the installation -- the bracket is somewhat different, and the instructions recommend reusing the old bracket, yet I found that unnecessary on my 'fridge. I did have to trim the plastic shield a little bit as others have noticed. Looking at the old unit, there's no way you could, or even should consider, taking it apart to try a fix. Just hoping it doesn't fail after a short time as some folks have found. I expect 10 years anyway, right?

What a deal!!!
I was incredibly surprised when I opened the packaging and discovered the product in a GE package!!! At this price point I expected the solenoid to be an aftermarket product but it was not. Replacement was quick and simple. Solved our water leaking issues and saved us literally $100's of dollars in appliance repair costs.
