Good Thermostat but difficult to figure out how to install and properly use
After doing quite a bit of research I purchased this over a comparable Honeywell and once I figured out how to use it am pretty happy with it. For awhile though I did think that it was haunted and the instructions manual is not very good. The installation instructions are even worse as it refers you to your equipment instructions for wiring information. I had to rely on wire color coding to be able to install the unit. If it weren't for these drawbacks I would have rated the unit higher. Two reasons that I chose this over the Honeywell was that it has a 5 year warranty and offered a lot more user-adjustable features, although you won't find the warranty mentioned anywhere aside from the spec sheet on the Manufacturer website. The self-install Honeywell only offers a one year warranty and the 5 year warranty model has to be professionally installed or the warranty is voided. What I thought was an advantage also turned out to be the most frustrating thing with this unit, which was all of the features and adjustments offered. To get the unit to function as I liked, I had to disable a number of the features. The first issue that I had was the unit seemingly changed the temperature randomly from what I had programmed. I had to disable the "Automatic Schedule" feature as it was somehow over-riding what I thought I had programmed into the unit. I also had to disable the "Energy Management Recovery" feature that would adjust the temperature early to get to the desired temperature at the time programmed, instead of changing the temperature at the programmed time. I found that the feature activated way too early and it also appeared to have switched to the manual mode until the programmed time, which made me think the unit was malfunctioning until I watched it and saw it switch back to the Program Mode. For those of you switching from an older digital unit you will find that this unit keeps the temperature very tightly controlled. It apparently measures the temperature more precisely (fractionally) than displayed and turns on and off to keep the temperature at precisely the selected temperature, although occasionally it would drop one degree fahrenheit below the set temperature. I also liked the blue LCD color as opposed to the typical green LCD color.

Simple, looks nice on the wall, easy to use, excellent simple features
I now own two of these thermostats. Very happy with the features. It does have a lot of programming features but it doesn't have features that I will never use. The price is reasonable. It has a lot of setup features which I love. You can calibrate the temperature if you need to. You can set it up with the back light on or set it up it so the back light comes on when you touch the screen. I like the feature if you change the temperature it will go back to the programmed temperature after 4 hours or you can touch "hold" and the new temperature setting will stay until you hit "run program" to make it go back to the original programmed temperature. Has more features but these are my favorite features. Excellent not to complicated thermostat.

Am very happy with this non-wifi thermostat
Am very happy with this non-wifi thermostat. As my old White Rodgers thermostat failed, I had to have two heating guys figure out how to rewire my furnace system to come up with the new 'C` wire. Actually the furnace guy could not figure that out, I had to hire a thermostat specialist. OK, got the C wire. Tried a wi-fi Honeywell unit with a wi-fi remote sensor. I cannot begin to tell you my bad experience with that. The remote wi-fi sensor did work, but had so much 'intelligence' built into it that it was useless. All I needed was the sensor to REPORT back to the thermostat. I could put the sensor outside the window in 40 degree air and it would take an hour for the sensor to slowly increment it's reporting down to 40 degrees to the thermostat unit. OK I dumped the useless Honeywell and installed this Emerson unit myself, knowing what all the wires were from /to the furnace system. I installed it with an Emerson WIRED remote sensor. The manual was OK, good even... Any questions I had were answered by the VERY helpful Emerson help line.

Good Device
I've had this unit since last spring. Works fine with my forced air, air conditioning. It was a hot summer and it cycled fine. I am now in the heating season and appears to work fine with the forced air, natural gas heating system. It is compatible with the 2 stage system I have. The display is really easy to read. Touch pad works great. The lighted pad is GREAT. When I get around to it, I want to order the external thermometer for this device. The only down side is that the relay that turns the furnace/AC on and off in the thermostat is a little noisy. Not intolerable but, definitly noticable. I would recommend this device. However, you may want to have your HVAC service guy install it. I'm an electrical tech. by trade and struggled a bit with wiring it up. I got it done but, if not real technically inclined, you may want to leave for a pro. He can also assist with the many energy setting options that are available. Also, be sure to order the proper themostat for your system. (single stage, two stage, etc.)

Check out these cool stats
I have been working with heating and air conditioning for over 20 years. I've dealt with many programmable stats before. Many of which can be non user friendly and difficult to see. But I have fallen in love with these stats. The large screen with blue backlighting and ability to pull from wall to set dwn to program makes this very easy to setup and work with. One feature that sets theses apart is that you can password lock ur set program schedule but allow people to temporarily adjust temp within ur set parameters. This is a feature that only this stat has without going to wifi stats. Which are expensive, require apps, not user friendly to all, and require separate wifi modules ($100 or more.) I have searched and called Honeywell, Lux etc and verified this. I wanted a stat that anyone could simply change the temp manually with only a touch. Have installed 6 at our church and have saved in utilities.

Lost programmable fan
Not quite as advertised. The fan is not programmable in the same way as earlier editions of this model were. (same model number) Earlier models could run the fan for 10 mins or so every hour when there had been no call for heating or cooling. This feature improved the air circulation and air filtration in the house when outside air temperature is relatively mild.
