Great non wifi thermostat.

Very easy to install and program. Accurate to settings. Great price. For those who don't trust wifi controlled devices. Have the option to start setting at specific time or let the stat reach temp by designated time. Very pleased with this one.

Excellent thermostat but Hold button should be labeled

I bought this to replace an identical one that I bought about eight years ago. It's well made, reliable, and generally easy to use, but it has two issues. The first issue is the Hold button. it's the bottom of the three buttons on the right side. It's not labeled, which is a big mistake, and it's the reason we unnecessarily bought a new thermostat. The problem with it being unlabeled is that some people in our house thought it was for turning on the display light. The thermostat is in a dark hallway, so seeing the display at night is difficult. The problem is that when someone presses this utton, it holds the temperature for 24 hours. This led me to think the old thermostat was malfunctioning, when in fact someone was just pressing the Hold button to read the display. The other issue is the manual's instructions for programming it. It's unnecessarily intimidating and confusing. There are two parts to it: configuring for your system and programming. If you have a basic system like mine (60 year old house with basic furnace, no cooling), you probably won't need to make changes for the configuration. The defaults were fine for my house. You do however need to read this part of the manual to configure for your system correctly. Programming times and temperatures is easy. I found it easier to just set program the thermostat for temperatures and times than to read the manual. Overall, it's a good enough thermostat that I've bought it twice (the first was labeled White Rodgers, but it's the same company and same thermostat. I can recommend it.

Decent Thermostat

Looks nice, is is on the larger side so make sure you measure. Barely fit on the space I had. These should be very easy to install, but the instructions were not written for someone who has not done this before. I ended up hiring someone to install it. Took him 10 minutes. Programming the temperatures were easy. I set it to 7 days and I programmed one day. All other days automatically were programmed the same. So far I am happy with it. Gave it 4 stars because of the instructions.

Quality Thermostat

This is the second one I have purchased and both are very accurate and easy to use. The thermostat uses relays to control the heat and cooling cycles. The relays are a bit noisy when activated, they make a click sound that can be heard several feet away. I don't mind the sound because it assures me the unit is functioning properly. I highly recommend this thermostat.

Accurate and easy to program

This thermostat had all the features I was looking for. The clock is very accurate so the heat goes on exactly when I want it. Convenient light with just a tap on the top of the unit so you can see to check or change the settings. Although some reviewers said a backing plate was included, mine did not have one. Would have been an even easier installation with a backing plate to cover the built up paint around where the larger old thermostat was mounted, but with a bit of sanding, filling holes and painting it came out looking decent.

Great choice to replace White-Rodgers. Works well. Installed easily.

Thermostat works well. Menu defaults worked for my simple heater/air conditioning forced air system. Instructions are good, but take a bit of time to read. Unit replaced older White-Rodgers destroyed by painters. This unit is far smaller--be ready to clean up newly exposed wall if needed (as I did) or use (included) huge cover plate. As good or better than the unit it replaced. It adds week-end programming if desired that can be different from weekday. Also has ability to choose heat or cool to get desired temperature rather than being either heat or cool without operator intervention like the older thermostat. White-Rodgers is now a division of Emerson (there was some kind of purchase/merger) so either/both names can be on the thermostat. (Mine has Emerson on it.)

Easy to install and use

This was a replacement controller for my old white rogers. It was easy to install with the hardest part being drilling a new mounting hole (was able to use one of the old holes). It is much nicer looking, easy to set up and use and looks MUCH more modern and clean. Very clear display compared to my old one.

Pre-programmed at the factory and difficult to alter

Our old thermostat broke, and we decided to upgrade to a programmable model. The first one we received was defective--the time LEDs were only half there, so we couldn't actually program the thing. Amazon was a champ--we got a replacement in two days, only to discover that Emerson pre-programs the thing with some "energy-saving" program that was useless for us. It took us two hours and a trip to their website to figure out how to change the base settings. The LEDs are hard to read, and my finger nearly folded in half pressing buttons to input our own settings. I frankly hate the thing and hope it breaks soon so I can get something else. It does work as advertised, though, and the price is certainly reasonable.

Nice But Misleading

Easy to install, only took 10 min. Works well so far. Easy to program. If needing to change from Fahrenheit to Celsius, go into the installer's menu by holding down the menu button for 8 seconds, scroll to 79 by presssing Next, then click the up or down until it switches. Included plate works well. Plate screws were perfectly placed from my previous thermostat to this new model. Mini-leveler is a nice touch but doesn’t work as well as a bigger leveler - I found mine was on an angle even though the eye and bigger leveler said it was good. Box says 4.5" display, but my picture clearly shows it's 3", that's quite a disappointment.

Works better than the old thermostat, but the lack of an optional backing plate was a problem

The unit works well for our hot water gas furnace. The house feels more uniformly heated, no ups and downs as was felt by our older programmable unit. The old unit did have a separate, optional backing plate to cover the hole of its predecessor. Since this one did not have a plate, I had to make one. Any replacement thermostat should anticipate the possible need for a backing plate.

Works as advertised

Product is easy to read and accurate. Replaced an old analog thermostat and quite a difference. Would recommend.
