Easy to Setup and Install

I should have bought a replacement like this years ago. It was easy to replace our broken keypad for a Genie Excelerator screw drive model that was purchased around 2000-2001. I used the new keypad's default number to pair it to the opener on one try, which took a matter of 30 seconds after reading the instructions. It was under 10 minutes to remove the old keypad, drill one pilot hole (I reused one existing hole from the old keypad), and affix the new keypad. Less than a minute later I had changed to our own code. This flip cover version is easier to operate as compared to the old slide-up door version that hat to be positioned just right. The battery cover is a little tight, but I'll prefer that to a loose one that falls onto the driveway and gets crushed by a vehicle. I don't know why others have had difficulty pairing to a compatible opener that uses Intellicode technology. The instructions say to press the up/down button 3-4 times, slowly. My guess is that this is cycling it through multiple protocols until it finds one that matches (compatibility over many opener models). One press may not pair it, but pressing 3-4 times about 1 second apart while the opener is in learn mode ought to do it.

It's a Garage Door Keypad...

Nothing exciting here. It's a garage door keypad. My old keypad is about 20 years old and the cover was broken. Rather than buy a cover for $20, I figured I'd just buy a new keypad for a little more. Honestly, it doesn't feel like the tech has changed all that much on these things at least as far as appearance and functionality. The buttons feel the same and the overall keypad looks very similar as to the one I have that is 20 years old. One change is that it uses 2 AAA batteries instead of a 9-volt. That said, it works and is incredible easy to install. To program, you press your learn button on your overhead unit, you enter the default code and then press the up/down button until your door opens. After that, you program in your own PIN and you are done. Everything can be done in under 5 minutes. For the wall installation, it hangs on a screw and then a 2nd screw secures it to the wall. No wiring needed. If you are looking to upgrade or replace your old unit, it's a quick and painless process and the price is pretty fair.

EASY TO INSTALL AND WORKS WELL

When my house was built in 2016, it came with one of these controllers. Unfortunately, it failed, and I believe not because of quality on the manufactures part. The installed location by the builder couldn't have been worse. Rain and sunshine (Florida) just beat it up. I moved the location when I installed the new controller to prevent the same type of damage.

GENIE INTELLICODE

Extremely easy and user friendly. My motor is a GENIE Model 2028 pro line. No need to look at paper instructions just follow sticker instructions on Key Pad. BE SURE (on your opener and motor) to PUSH and activate the blue tooth wireless sync button (it is a program button on your hanging motor opener) OR the wireless key pad will not sync and program itself to the opener. If you have a GENIE buy the GENIE brand for your unit. If you have any other brand then buy the universal brand by GENIE or any other manufacturer which has a universal wireless brand. My 2028 is around 6 years old. Good luck hope this review helps.

Arg!!!!! So complicated to install

I have had this for several months and tried it dozen times to get it installed and I still haven’t figured it out. Granted these are never very easy for me or others that I’ve watched try but this one in particular just does not seem to program I’ve double checked, and it is supposed to work with my garage door system, at this point, I can’t even return it and it’s so frustrating because I’ve worked so hard trying to get it to program that I went beyond the return time. I don’t know whether to order another one from another company or to call tech-support at this point. I really don’t know why they can’t make these more user friendly as far as installation.

It was a lot easier to install than I envisioned…

I bought this to replace an older model Genie wireless keypad from a 20 years ago. This new one matches the one that was put on my new garage door last year. It was simple to install-removed a couple of screws on the old model and used the two new provided screws to put on the new model. I had to drill a pilot hole because the old unit had different dimensions for the holes. But the instructions were concise and clear and I had no issues. Programming the new unit was simple.

Hard to program craftsman opener.

Design is very nice, but was not able to program with craftsman opener. It’s 2001 model which according to instructions should work. I followed direction from genie, and no luck. I even tried the way craftmen would program keyless entry and still does not work.

Works with genie 12 dip switch screwdriver

Awesome product! Directions didn’t have info for the dip switch programming but it had a QR code that linked to an online pdf that was easy to understand and perform. Product worked as advertised right down to the temporary code setups.

Simply replacing an identical unit that stopped working. Was easy to connect, did this before screwing it into the location on the doorjam, therefore I knew it was working before screwing it into place. Performs as needed.

Easy to install works great

Product installed for over a month now and it seems well made, and works as expected. Other purchasers be patient with programming instructions. They are simple but you need pay attention.

BEST ONE YET

Very impressive!!! Easy to code and install keypad outside. Worth the extra cost. I tried another brand and it was causing so many problems. I should have also purchased the Genie remotes rather than the other brand. My garage door opener was I believe from 1999.
