It helped my wife's sister and brother
We bought this frame for my wife's sister who was recovering from knee replacement surgery. She told us that it did help her. It's not meant to be solidly rigid like grab bars fastened to the wall, especially with sideways loads, but she found it worked well to provide her with that bit of extra support she needed in getting up and down. Kind of like a walker helps to stabilize a person. And because the support is on both sides of you and equally in line with your direction of motion, I think this tends to work better than a single grab bar mounted on the wall as in handicapped restroom stalls. The frame is supposed to be rated at 300 pounds weight capacity. While I can't vouch for the 300 pound maximum capacity, I can say that it should support most adults. If you have any doubts about load bearing, position a helper to assist a new user until they get comfortable with going on their own. I think most people, even those who are weight-endowed, will find they do OK once they get used to it. The frame is attached to the toilet using the same bolts that hold the seat on and it was easy to attach - just unscrew the nuts on the seat bolts, lift the seat off, place the safety bar frame on the toilet and reattach the seat with the bolts passing through a bracket on the safety bar frame. All the hardware lined up fine and the bars themselves are height and width adjustable so unless you have a really weird shaped toilet you shouldn't have any problems. Updated April 2018 - My wife's brother used this when he had knee replacement surgery and also found it to be a helpful aid for getting on and off the toilet. I had a chance to use it and I did notice the wobble in the supports that other reviewers have commented on. This might be a problem for people who are especially frail or who have noticeable balance problems. For most people, though, it should work OK if it's only being used for a bit of extra support as they recover from surgery such as joint replacement. I reduced my evaluation from 4 stars to 3 because I think the designers could have done a better job of making the supports less wobbly.

Don't hesitate - these work well
Bought these for recovery from surgery and they were perfect. Very well made and durable. Note: the metal insert that holds these to the toilet fits under the connected for the toilet seat itself. So be sure the nuts for the toilet seat remain fastened securely to retain the stability of the support arms.

Close, but not quite
It installs easily enough but there are 2 issues with it: 1) the size and location of the slotted mounts for the arms does not allow the side handles to drop down as far as they should, so they are not level. They angle up from the back of the toilet to the front. The slot needs to be longer to allow more rotation. 2) the arms are not as solid as I would like. They wobble side to side and require you make sure you press straight down and not at a slight angle outward. In other words, you have to think more about it than you should have to.

Makes for a very comfortable and secure landing...
After I had ordered this unit, I found that it was the same one used in the rehab center I spent a week in after my Hip Surgery. The arms are a little wobbly from side to side, but they are very comfortable and seem reliable and safe when being used under a vertical load. I had no problem mounting this unit in combination with a raised toilet seat, and like that the legs will swing up a bit for cleaning around the toilet. On my commode, the height is just a bit low for the available settings so the arms are at a slight angle. I only noticed this during setup, but this does not affect use. If you have your TP mounted on a cabinet right next to the toilet, you may find that sneaking it through the arm loop has a bit of a learning curve, but seems to work well overall.

My mother had a different model that slipped under the ...
My mother had a different model that slipped under the toilet seat on the front end. The problem was that this other model resulted in the seat pinching and bruising her thigh. Therefore, we purchased this Drive Medical frame. This Drive Medical model was a little wobbly at first but we installed the Stander Security Pole (Iceberg White) (purchased on Amazon) on the right side of the toilet and tied the right front leg of the Drive Medical Toilet Frame to this Stander pole. This stabilized the Drive frame. My mother also knows to depends on the right side more than the left side. My mother is petite and thin. The top of these handles were too high for her while the lower half of the handles did not allow enough leverage. The Drive frame legs have 5 different height settings, however, we needed to adjust this lower than the lowest setting which resulted in the top bar slanting downward a bit. This worked and she likes this new frame. This frame also has 2 settings on the back bar to change the width, we used the narrower setting.

Does What It's Suppose to Do
I had a problem with the clearance between the tank and the seat. There wasn't enough room to mount the bracket. This toilet is actually a little unusual in this regard so I'm not downrating the frame based on this, but it may be a good idea to check your toilet's clearance before you purchase this item. I actually ended up replacing the toilet, but not just because of the frame, but rather because I never was happy with the toilet anyway and when I discovered that the frame wouldn't fit, that gave me the incentive to buy a new toilet that the frame did fit! I gave the frame 4 stars because it is a little wobbly, but I'm sure it's safe to use and will last many years. The frame uses the same bolts that hold the seat and other than that there is no lateral support anywhere else, so there really is no way to keep it from wiggling. My wife is the one that uses it and she likes it.

Weebles Wobble
Easy to assemble. Bought it because it secures to the toilet seat so it won't tip or slide around. It is ok, but the hand rails wobble, so depending on your personal needs it may be fine, or if you need it for support in standing, it may take some getting used to. You can wiggle the handrails easily and they tilt , but won't fall over. This is less of an issue when standing up. Seems to present more of a problem for transitioning from a wheelchair to the toilet seat if you need it for stability.

Was recommended by OT assistant but rails are quite wobbly
The package arrived on time as expected. Installation is very straightforward and easy. This was for my elderly mother, and this particular make and model were recommended by the OT assistant of her care facility. I tried it out myself just to see how it works and I found the railings wobbly, and it made me feel unstable even though I have no balance issues. So far it seems to be working for my mom, so maybe the wobblyness of it is intentional. BTW the wobblyness has nothing to do with a level floor - the rails are moving out to the side a bit.

Good but shaky
The product seems good but I installed and then uninstalled it. It’s for my mother. The fitting of the arms into the base plate at the rear is not a good fit. It’s shaky and tends to wobble. Also the rubber feet tend to slip. Didn’t have confidence in it. Wanted to return but Amazon gave me a full refund without having to return. Bought another brand from the local market.

Unstable
Very unstable spreads away from toilet. My mom is very anxious and could not build up enough trust to use this product and when my brother in law used it it bent out.

Good gadget
Easy to assemble, even so the instructio s are not correct. I would have liked the angle to adjust the hights ( from the toilett plate to the first connection ) a bit better. Works ok.

Sturdiness
I is a good known product but a tiny bit un-sturdy after installation at the top of handles
