Plastic leg clips easily break apart.
After injuring my right ankle, I purchased 2 of these safety rails for toilet support. They were sturdy enough to hold my weight (210 lbs), however the side arms are held in position by 4 clips - 2 on each side. These clips are constructed as metal pins with plastic retainer clips. The plastic portion of those clips are not strong enough for daily use. Already 2 of the plastic section of the clips have broken into multiple pieces and pins fell out onto the floor. I had to tape the pins into place so that the unit will function properly. Eventually, I will used some bolts, but this will detract from the portability of the safety rails.

this was a lifesaver!
After foot surgery I fell and broke my arm in 2 places so I needed to have a safe way to get on and off the toilet. This saved me from falling many times. I don't really need this anymore but I am still using it because it makes me feel more secure.

Perfect fit
This was the only safety item that worked all others were either for older toilets or had a bar on the bottom which was annoying This fits just right and is perfect for hubby !

Great Product!
I bought this product to use after my back surgery and am glad I did! It was very helpful for the first two weeks when I was in significant pain and wanted to be independent from needed help getting up and down from the toilet. It was easy to assemble/disassemble and felt sturdy enough for my short-term use.

Best DME purchase for me.
I just had an achilles tendon surgery and am no-weight baring for 12 weeks. I have a small toilet room. My knee scooter won't fit in it neither will a walker. I can get a walker in the room, but not out. I bought the toilet safety rails to help me on and off the toilet. They did the trick perfectly. The only negative is that they are snug. When I sit on the toilet the cold bars touch my thighs and baby it's cold. My brilliant husband made an adjustment and now it is wider and perfect. I seriously don't know what I would do if it weren't for these safety rails.

Simple Design and Very Stable
It fit easily over a new elongated toilet and remained secure - as in not wobbly. The handles were soft and easy to grip and eased both standing up from a toilet and also reaching the seat when transferring from a walker. We used it for those days that followed knee and hip replacement surgery. I would recommend highly to anyone with knee and leg issues/pain.

This is great!
I already had a higher toilet and didn't' need the potty chair device but needed something to be able to grab onto to lift myself up after hip surgery. This worked great!!!!

Toilet safety rails
Very helped for use recuperating from knee surgery. Sturdy. If you are a larger person like me, a little tight squeezing between the front legs . It would be better if you could widen the front legs if needed. Better than using to bedside toilet. I wouldn't buy again.

Dangerous, safety pins falling apart.
There's a lot of room for improvement in this Carex toilet safety rails. By design, these safety rails are made of three steel pieces - two armrests and a back support. The back support is connected with safety pins and both armrests are supposed to fold. However, the safety pins that keep the back support attached to the armrests are falling apart after 3 months of use. Plastic part of the safety pin breaks into pieces, and the metal core of the pin falls of from the pre-drilled hole in back support. This week, the handicapped person in our household that uses the rails fell from the toilet when he leaned on the failing rail, because the back support collapsed and the side arm support fell to the floor. Luckily, no-one was injured. Shock from the fall and also the mess all around the toilet, that was mafe during and afer the fall, cannot be tolerated. Photo of failed safety pins is attached. This Carex product is dangerous and doesn't meet Canadian safety regulations. There is a high risk of serious injury for your handicapped person if he/she uses this product.

Important Safety Concern
Carex Toilet Safety Rails In order to secure the sides of the frame you need to inset four the (4) safety E-clips pins on each side. These safety pins are locked into place via the plastic clips that are attached to the end of the safety pins. These safety pins keep the back support attached to the armrests as well as keep the armrests in place. I move the Carex Toilet Assist weekly for cleaning. This time, when moving the Carex Toilet Assist for weekly cleaning, all 4 safety pins fell apart from the rails and the armrests folded inward. All 4 plastic parts that are attached to the end of the safety pins had broken into pieces and the metal shaft of the pin fell from the pre-drilled holes. This makes the Carex product very unsafe. There is a high risk of serious injury on this product. I purchased this product to help my wife safely use the toilet, as this was needed while recovering from total knee replacement. Had this item fell apart while being used the results could have been disastrous. This product is only 2 months old. This item now rests folded up and stored in my basement. It will remain unused until I find a safer safety pin resolution. Perhaps the use of a regular bolt or shoulder bolt with a locking nylon nut may be the solution. It appears this product is not CSA or UL approved.

Hugely Disappointed - Unsafe for Use and Should be Removed from Your Available Inventory
Carex Toilet Safety Rails Initially, for the first couple of weeks, I was so impressed with my first order that I placed a 2nd order, as my disabled spouse uses 2 bathrooms in our home and I needed to ensure he was safe while toileting. As I now see other consumers expressing the same concern and frustration, I felt it important to submit a review. Within a very short timeframe (less than 2 months from purchase of each toilet safety rail), I noticed a few black squares laying on the bathroom floor, and after investigating further, realized that the plastic parts that are attached to the end of the safety pins had broken into pieces; in one instance, the metal shaft of the pin fell from the pre-drilled hole. I am now very concerned that this item is unsafe for my spouse to use as these safety pins keep the back support attached to the armrests and the armrests in place. This product will no longer be used in my home until, like others who've reported similar experiences, a safer proven solution is found. It appears this product is not CSA or UL approved.

Bad quality!
Have had the for 4 months. After 3 months it began falling apart! Almost all the plastic clips for adjusting height, etc. have completely broken off the device! And that is only after use by am average sized elderly woman! Sorry... can't recommend!

The plastic tighteners broke in only a couple of months.
The concept helped my mom getting on and off the toilet but it was made poorly.
