Drive Medical will stand by its products. They made it right.
I’ve reached out to Drive Medical Customer service contact that Amazon provides. We’ve been emailing back and forth multiple times. I’ve requested the broken and missing parts. NRS185006-21 Back Locking Knob (broken) STDS851-SA Velcro Seat Belt Self Attaching (missing) Listed in manufacturers part catalogue for this model. The size is not for a Bariatric size person. Dirve Medical has responded but they are asking for information I’ve already provided. First they wanted me just to return the chair. That isn’t very environmentally friendly when the parts needed are so small. They’ve asked twice for a SN#. I’ve provided it to them twice with pictures. They first responded saying the SN was incorrect despite sending them a photo of the SN# label on the box. They next requested I send a photo of the SN on the Chair. I sent them a picture of the label on the chair that matches the pic from the box. I don’t understand why it takes so long for a broken knob and missing seat belt. At this point I can’t recommend this product due to poor customer service from drive medical. I’ll update this review if service improves. The price has since lowered and at this point I’m nearly ready to return it. It’s otherwise a quality chair if they only replace the parts. The broken knob left a very sharp piece of plastic on the back of the chair. Amazon gave me a partial refund for my inconvenience. But without all the parts it leaves the chair useless. The way Dive Medical packages this product it’s possible you may receive a broken rear locking knob. Update: It took some time to finally get Drive Medical to send me the missing parts. This chair has allowed my back to find some serious needed time off to heal. The number of transfers needed are more than cut in half. How much is your back worth? Despite the hassle of the one missing and one broken part, it has been worth it thus far. Other reviews warn that the barrings in the wheels will cause trouble after a few months by locking up. Some Oil may prolong them. I did notice that the product title states 2 locking caster wheels when if fact all 4 wheels are locking casters. The casters have so much plastic. I do see that the casters may be a weak point for the chair. The seat and high back are made of a cushion that should be comfortable for most. The arms go up if you’re performing a slide bench transfer. A floor circle spinner is our preferred transfer method. The bucket slides out from the back & gives the caregiver the ability to clean. Why anyone would make a commode without a rear bucket removal doesn’t make sense. The bucket is on the cheaper side. They can be replaced. This is the one you need if the user is either tall or plus size. 5’10” - 6’2”+ makes a good fit. There are few choices for a 22” wide seat rolling commode/shower chair. If you choose this one you won’t be making a bad choice given your options. Update July 10th 2020 In addition to replacing the broken and missing parts for the originally purchased chair, weeks later, Drive Medical sent me a new chair. The box was delivered directly from Drive Medical with a packing slip with no explanation other than it said Paid. I can now say Drive Medical will definitely stand by it’s products. It corrected it’s mistakes both in manufacturing and service. Others have had the same parts problems in the reviews. They didn’t have the poor customer service I received. I now believe my experience wasn’t the norm with this company. If you happen to be an unfortunate person who receives this chair with a broken real locking knob or a missing seat belt here are the part numbers to request. NRS185006-21 Back Locking Knob (broken) Lack of sufficient padding in box to protect plastic knob. STDS851-SA Velcro Seat Belt Self Attaching (missing) (This part is only listed on the manufacturer’s parts list for this chair.) Drive Medical went above and beyond to correct the previous poor customer service I received. I can highly recommend this chair.

Very solid and dependable - but high maintenance
I've used this chair for a year now and it is a great piece of equipment. My weight is dropping, but I was above 300 for most of the use, and I could really sense the sturdy construction. I think this chair is worth it for people in the 225-275 pound range even though you could get by with a cheaper chair. The solidity is worth paying for if you can afford it. BTW, my building contractor assembled the chair for me before I moved into a new location. He had no trouble removing the the leg supports. It is puzzling why Drive Medic4al tech support tells people you can't remove them. They must have mistaken guidance from another department. It was straight forward to not install the leg supports, and there is no loss in sturdiness. Edit 8/2/2021 The chair has mostly been very good the past two years, but I'm taking off a star because of a chronic problem. Although the casters themselves spin freely, probably for many years, the bearings that allows the wheel to swivel quickly rust and go bad. They start to get rough after just 6 months. Then they get wobbly and lock up. I'm replacing them about once a year but that is not often enough. I talked to DM tech support and they suggested removing the wheel and applying some WD-40 lubricant. I don't see that removing the wheel offers any advantage, you can apply lubricant to the relevant bearing area just by turning the chair upside down. Hopefully the WD-40 reduces the wear rate. But the replacement part you likely will need is "NRS185006-08 Replacement Caster with Leg". Suggested retail price is ~ $100 but the google machine should allow you to find it for < $40.

Perfect for tall person
Very sturdy/firm, easy to help transfer/assist up/off from; easy to push across carpet and roll into bathroom; nice and wide and great seat depth, rare to find good-sized items like this for 6'4" husband; nice-sized opening for butt area and easy access to clean person afterward (won't really catch urine (from a man) unless person is able to utilize hands to aim it (my husband had brain cancer and could not), but I just put a chuck underneath and was prepared); easy to clean overall. Expensive and probably way overpriced from cost to produce, but overall an excellent rolling commode/shower chair. I would have bought this much sooner had I known my husband's mobility issues weren't going to improve.

Excellent Quality Shower-Potty Chair
Very impressed with the high quality of this chair. It’s just like the one my mom used at the hospital. It’s great that the arms go up, making transfers really easy. It was easy to assemble. Would definitely recommend!

Hefty price tag is worth it given that this chair allowed me to be mobile again.
I'm tall and overweight and broke my leg badly. I needed something to get me around the house that rolled easily in all directions, could go in the shower, fit over the toilet, fit through doorways, and support my weight. This was the third such chair I ordered and the only one that met all of these requirements. It is definitely expensive for what appears to be a basic rolling chair but the cost was not an issue when considering how much mobility it gave me. It really is well designed.

Broken Parts
Came with broken lock knobs for the connecting poles. NOTHING should be defective when paying close to $700 dollars for a commode/shower chair that is for an immobile individual. No luck on being able to contact ANYONE for replacement parts. HUGE disappointment because the chair itself could have been a good purchase in its features, however when there are shards of sharp plastic protruding from the back of the chair, in the LOCK knob mechanism part(s) capacity, where one would have concern about safety issues of sturdiness of the lock itself, let alone the knobs being in pieces that are necessary to turn it. Bottomline is that a chair with supposedly good ratings, with this type of price tag being in any way defective, potentially injurous to the care persons or the individual this was intended for, to even possibly be unsafe in any way, depreciates this item to somewhat flimsy. Very unfortunate.
