Works for Crane Toilets
After getting 3 different toilet gaskets, I finally purchased this one. And it works like a dream. My only real issues is minor I would have liked 8 of the small rubber o-rings so I don't have to tighten nuts onto porcelain, but to actually find a gasket that works I can settle and get the o-rings myself. Honestly may buy another since finding this part ended up being such a chore.

I liked that everything worked as it should. Directions could be just a bit clearer, but helpful. Came short a washer so I had to improvise and get a couple of matching washers from my handidandy parts jar. I would buy again.

Finally a gasket that fits
Worked perfectly on my gerber toilet. It will not cover the nut, but because it is so thick and the tank is screwed, it provides the perfect seal. No more leakage from the tank to the toilet seat!

Gerber model 28-299 - This Kit is for you! But, Read This First
If your toilet looks like the toilet in the attached picture (regardless of the color), it's a Gerber Model 28-299. You will want to use this DANCO Tank to Bowl Toilet Repair Kit and NOT a universal tank-to-bowl kit for a couple of reasons... 1st is the BOLTS in the DANCO kit are much thicker and a better quality than the standard universal kits. 2nd is the Tank to Bowl Gasket is THICKER than the standard universal kits in the big-box retail stores. This thicker/taller gasket is necessary due to the recessed nature of the design and to properly prevent any chance of leaking between the tank and bowl pieces. The downside to this kit is they do not come assembled with the lock-washers as indicated on the product card. I took a chance and assembled the toilet as instructed but without the lock-washers and am still very happy with the results. Everything is tight, water-tight, and sturdy. Note: When mounting the tank to the hopper, be sure to get the tank bolts tight enough to compress that thick gasket between the tank and the hopper until the bottom of the tank is resting on the top of the back of the hopper. Best Practice is to have someone steady and press down on the tank as another is tightening the nuts on the tank bolts under the hopper. Tighten each side a little at a time being sure to alternate sides until the tank is tight on the hopper (this allows for near equal pressure on each side). And remember, over-tightening the nuts can crack the porcelain - and thats a bad day. All in all, this kit is worth every penny, and if you are wanting the lock-washers be sure to purchase them separately.

Worked on my Gerber with an aftermarket Korky flusher.
This was thick enough to seal my Gerber when the "extra thick" gaskets from Home Depot did not work. I had just installed a new Korky flush system. The hole in this gasket is not big enough to fit over the large plastic hex nut from the Korky flapper, but that's ok. When I first set the tank on the bowl it bobbed around, but I alternated tightening the bolts until the tank was almost touching the bowl. At that point, the tank was solid and did not move or wiggle at all, and the gasket compressed over plastic hex nut enough to create a water tight seal. The key is to be sure to use all 4 metal washers, rubber washers, and nuts. From the inside of the tank, the order should be: bolt, rubber washer. Then the tank wall. Outside the tank (but still before the bowl) metal washer, and nut. tighten those nuts to seal the rubber washer inside the tank. Then put the tank on the bowl, and below the bowl add the rubber washer, metal washer and nut. Then alternate tightening these nuts until the bowl and tank are almost, but not quite touching. Using the two nuts on the tank before attaching it to the bowl prevents the two nuts below the bowl from having to seal the rubber washers inside the tank, AND keep the tank steady and in place. It makes a big difference. It worked for me, even with my large, aftermarket plastic hex nut holding on the flapper. If installed right, it should do the trick for you too. NOTE: the hole in the rubber washers I received seemed to small for the large bolts in the kit. I had to twist/force them on. I'm not sure if they sent me the wrong size but they still worked, just very difficult to get onto the bolt. Also, mine did not come with any lock washers, as the description stated. However, I have never used them before, and it worked fine without them.
