Difficult to set up
This pedometer is a convenient size and is battery operated. The display us easy to read and it's affordable. But it is not intuitive to set up and the step counts I got from it didn't match my smartwatch. You can't check it during your workout without opening it. There's also surprisingly no way to transfer the data off the device so you can use it with other health data you monitor. If you already carry a smartphone with you and/or use a smartwatch, I'd skip this. It would be OK for someone who only needs a simple, standalone step counter.

Inaccurate
I was excited to try the SmartHeart Multifunction Pedometer. Here are my impressions. PROS - It's quite comfortable to wear. - The included instructions for setup and use are clear. CONS - In order to do anything with this pedometer, including look at the number of steps, you must open the cover, which I found impossible to do without using something to pry it open. I thought it might loosen up but I had to use a knife or nail file to get it open each time. - The numbers on the screen are easy to read, but when you are setting it up you have to read extremely small print at the top of the screen which is very tough to see. - This device claims to measure body fat. I knew that was bogus but I tried it anyway and it measured my body fat at 14.2%! I'm a woman who rarely works out so that's WAY off! - What I really want a pedometer to do is to accurately count steps. As a small test of the accuracy of that core function I put the device on and walked 300 steps. I then checked the screen which showed 347 steps. So it's off by about 15% even under very controlled conditions for a short period of time. I would never really trust this to be accurate on a long walk, let alone to keep track of steps over an entire day. - To use the calories burned and distance functions you will need to measure your stride and then make sure you are consistenly walking at that stride so it will only be a very rough estimate. This isn't necessarily a negative since there wouldn't really be any other way to do it, just something to be aware of if you actually want to use these features. In short, this pedometer is hard to set up, very difficult to open, and fairly inaccurate. It's very inexpensive and to a certain extent you can't expect greatness from something this cheap, but I would recommend saving up for something better than this.

Good pedometer, but not easy to setup
This is a very good multi function Pedometer, but it isn’t too intuitive and the setup is a bit challenging and complicated. My wife is an avid walker and likes to track her daily steps. She is currently using her phone to track her steps. After walking, she would weight herself on a scale to get her body-mass ratio. We hope this pedometer would eliminate the additional scale step. To begin with, this is a good device. You walk and measure your body-mass ratio all in one device. However, the instructions were printed on one sheet with tiny letterings and diagrams that were difficult to follow and read. You need to input the time, date, weight, body type, etc onto the device in a particular order. The device itself is small and clips onto you belt. The buttons on the device are tiny and the labels were difficult to read without a magnifying glass. My wife tested the device and compared it to her phone and scale and the numbers were slightly off/different (+/- 15%), we are not sure which device is not calibrated right. The pedometer is powered with a small button battery that will last a few months, depending on your usage. The LCD display on the pedometer is small and basic. There is no backlight, so you cannot read the numbers at night. The data does not output to an external device, so there is no permanent logging/history and you will lose your data when you change the batteries. Overall, this is a good device, but you need to set it up properly and get the proper measurements. I don’t recommend it to people that have visibility issues and don’t understand reading complicated instructions. Thank you for reading this review, I hope you found it helpful.

Overly complicated. Portions of the display are difficult to see.
Disclaimer: I received this product for no charge through the Vine program. This pedometer has the usual ability to count steps and calculate the distance walked by multiplying your steps by the stride length you enter into its memory. It has a few extra features like keeping track of time, calculating Calories expended, and calculating the percent body fat for five different people. It works best at displaying your steps and distance traveled. The body fat calculation is based primarily on data you enter for your weight, height, age and gender. There is a gimmicky feature with two electrodes that measures the electrical resistance between your thumbs to modify your body fat calculation, but it only modifies the value slightly regardless of the resistance. I thought the instructions to set up the pedometer were overly complicated and relied on seeing small display items that were difficult to see unless you had a light shining right at the LCD screen. The belt clip is plastic and doesn't seem like it will hold up to much use. The pedometer works, but it is too complicated, the display is hard to see, and the body fat calculator is just a gimmick.

Hard to Set Up
This pedometer works well once you set it up. Whatever you do, don’t lose the instructions because setting it up is quite a convoluted process. This is made worse because you have to press the small buttons quite firmly in order to get it to respond. The process takes at least 10 minutes. You can set it up for multiple people and have to information such as weight, height, stride length etc before it can collect accurate data and measure how many calories you are losing per step. Once set up, it works well enough. But it is kind of fiddly and frustrating to use. I guess for the price it is worth it, but If you can stretch to a fitness tracker watch it is probably worth it. The decent ones start at about three times the price of this small clip on one though.
