The lock looks to be excellent

This was to replace a previous smaller Masterlock at our community pool. The previous one just stopped working. I’m not sure if that was because someone accidentally changed the combination or because somebody put a pool gate fob in there (no reason for that to be there really). Anyway I had to lever the previous one off the wall. This new lock has a 2 part back to it. One part is loose in the lock inside and can be removed to be used as a template for marking the wall locations (the lock has 4 mounting holes). Once the wall is marked, the “template” is out back inside the lock for mounting to the wall. This essentially doubles the thickness of the back wall of the lock. Lock tumblers seem to rotate more easily than our older smaller Masterlock, so a good point there. This lock (versus the old lock) has a plate that covers the entire lock front versus a small plastic sliding cover on the old lock, so good there. The new lock is more heavy duty than the old lock also. I took one star off the rating because the packaging is really obnoxious to take off. There is a small circle on the rear packaging that says in tiny writing “cut around here to reveal the factory lock code”. The packaging has to be cut off with scissors on all 4 sides to get to the lock itself. The lock can be changed to code of your own choice but, to me, the instructions appear to have the top/down orientation of the switch used to set your own code incorrect.

Speed delivery and simple to use!

This item came in handy, we were tired of locking ourselves out and forgetting to hide a key somewhere around the house. The lock came quickly within 3 days which was a plus and it’s simple to use/ set the code. Highly recommend!

Much better option instead of keeping keys in the open or in “rock holders “

Quick and easy install and very simple to set your own combination. We used our own security screws to keep attached in a more permanent option. Works for our needs to keep equipment keys secure and not in the open. Could always been a great option for those who like rock holders but please protect your belongings or home. Every layer of protection helps. I’d recommend keeping out of direct sun, rain and not visible from the road.

very sturdy, heavy duty, way cheaper than the hardware store

My local hardware store had a similar product for about double the price. Though I try to support them, I just couldn't on this one. This is a very nice, sturdy, easy to program product that does just what it says it will do. The hardest part is telling someone to use the "clear" button before using it. You do need to reenter the combo to close it. I haven't been able to figure out how to program a secondary code, I thought it talked about that in the ad.

Great lockbox

Good product. Works for our vacation house well. Easy to change combo. Probably too easy. Would not use if you had an ABB, but good for private use.

Hard to remove the cover, and a pain to close once unlocked

I bought several of these, and on each one, it's difficult to flip down the weatherproof cover. You have to pinch the sides while pulling it down, but this is easier said than done. *Eventually,* it will get easier the more you wear it in. Also, once you unlock the box, you have to unlock it again to close it.

a good lock box once you get past the packaging

Before purchasing I read the reviews and was quite surprised on how many mentioned the difficult packaging. Once I received the product, I saw why this concern appeared so often. In the first picture I attached, you'll see that you should cut out a circular patch to remove the product and reveal the combination. So, you carefully remove that circular patch and there is no combination revealed and nothing immediately obvious on how the unit separates from the packaging. I looked online. There were no videos on this product. And this product is not listed on the Master Lock website (perhaps it is an older, discontinued model). And there is no support on the Master Lock website for this product. I then realized the unit was tethered to the package with cable ties. You cut the two cable ties that are exposed once you remove the circular patch and the unit releases. Another reviewer said this as well: I spent more time figuring out the packaging than installing the box. There were only 3 screws supplied (4 are ideal for mounting). I have lots of screws and washers. In the 3rd picture you'll see I've secured the unit to a pillar with 4 screws and washers and I used a paper clip to create a hook for the key. I took off one star because of the very poor packaging instructions and for not supplying the correct number of screws. I should have deducted another star for no product support. But, in the end, I'm satisfied with this choice of lock box. I appreciate the cover for the combination dials; I live in a dusty area and, without it, it wouldn't be long before the mechanism was clogged with dust and dirt.

Good secure unit

A good secure well made product. Easy to install and use. The only issue is you can only store 3 or maybe 4 keys in the unit. The key fob cannot be used as it is too bulky. Still a great way to secure your keys outside. I installed mine on my garage frame and you can barely see it.

Decent product at a good price.

It's a key safe to keep keys in and it works. It has the wall fixings but l used my own which are more robust.
