Who Knew There Was Such a Thing as Fireplace Mortar!
We were quoted $500 to repair a small crack in the floor of our fireplace. I watched a couple of YouTube videos about this product and took a chance. Very important to follow the directions to cure the mortar before using your fireplace. It's been 2 months and multiple fires since. Everything is working great!

Works great. A bit expensive
Worked fine in my wood burner that has a couple of cracked bricks. They're solid after 24hours and a gooid heating to cure them. Black color can be fixed by coating the drip or runover with a bit of grey sawdust that burnt. They have grey but it's $10 more. Good to 2000 degrees. If you woodburner is above 900 deg, your roof is getting very warm. Highly recommend all people with wood burning stoves get a chimney thermometer. Get temp up to 400 quick so it burns clean and never let it get above 900. If your having trouble your seals need replacing or your using too much wood. Get the Condar FlueGard Flue Gas Thermometer Probe here at Amazon $26. You drill a small hole specified less then 1/4' and it uses a magnet and a rod that shoves in the hole. Doesn't have to be real tight as the updraft takes care of that. A lot of suburbs are banning wood burning as it pollutes if you don't know what your doing. You cant know if you dont know the temp. Mount thermometer at least 16" from top of wood burner.

Easy to use
Extremely easy to use, effective. Cleaned the areas of missing mortar, applied the goop and lit a very small fire slowly working it up to a full on hot fire over the course of 3 hours. It worked like a charm.

Perfect
The guys at 3M were honest with me and told me DO NOT use their product to repair inside a fireplace. The guy gave me a recommendation for Rutland. This was actually thinner than I thought it would be. But it sealed the cracks perfectly. And it is made to take the heat.

Worked well
Good Motar for the price. Works well to seal in the cracks on the sides and back of the firebox. Just did the one fire to cure it. It should work fine. I will review more in a month or two to see how it holds. Use heavy throw away latex gloves. Nice to use your finger to spread out the mortar.

Cost Effective Repair Option
It and I did a better job fixing the crack in my fireplace than the monkeys I had previously paid to do the job. Not perfect, as I had to go over it a second time, but still a respectable product.
