They install after drywall

I used this to move air from a room with HVAC through the wall into a room with out it I also put a wall vent in to allow for return air. Works perfect fan can be turned on or off from room needing air temp change

Very quiet. Took some skill and effort to install.

Fan is working great to transfer heat from a room with a fireplace to the upstairs. Noise level is much quieter than expected and isn’t very noticeable. I’m using a dimming smart switch to control the speed versus using the knob it came with I’m very frustrated about getting the fan with missing parts. The bag of screws was missing and I had to make my own studs for mounting the covers and attaching the housing halves together. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase and would buy a Broan fan again.

It works.

I bought this fan to install in my attic to lower the temperature up in that hot area. I have things stored there. The fan is fine. It works, and it includes a speed control which is nice. The problem is that I had to cut the main frame in order to get it to mount properly. If this fan were used for what it is supposed to be used for, to move air from one room to another, it would work very well. As it is, it works for me. It's air moving capacity is a bit lower than what I would have wished.

Silent operation up to half speed

I am using this fan for ventilation in a home office with no AC register in it. Added a vent in one wall and I am using the fan to pull negative pressure on the office. Bought the variable speed wall switch so I can control fan speed from the office door panel. Fan seems essentially silent through first half of speed range, and very modest volume at full speed. Very satisfied with performance so far, been using it a week.

Bought two identical fans: one is a 5, the other a 1

I bought two of these over the past few months to keep ventilation air moving in my finished basement. Both fans move a sufficient amount of air and the speed adjustment works well. If you know just a little about working around the house the instructions are sufficient. The only issue is that one of the fans has a very loud and persistent electrical hum. It's so loud I plan on replacing it since I waited too long to return it. I don't recommend avoiding this product because one fan does work pretty much perfectly. But I do recommend testing your new fan as soon as you receive it to make sure it works well.

Works as advertised

Fan works well and is as quiet as you would imagine for a fan. You can adjust the speed of the fan to your desired level which is a nice bonus feature. The install instructions were not very clear but I was able to figure it out.
