Essential for clean running performance.

Although this can be used in any humidifier, I use these in our Air-O-Swiss Models 7145Air-O-Swiss AOS 7145 Ultrasonic Humidifier - Cool Mist & 7147Air-O-Swiss AOS 7147 Ultrasonic Humidifier - Warm and Cool Mist . Each box contains 3 cleaner packets, and each packet makes 1 quart of cleaner. For the AOS humidifiers we use, one packet makes enough to clean both. While the 7147 indicates when cleaning is needed, the 7145 doesn't; but since they both run about the same amount of time, we just clean them together. When our 7147 indicates cleaning is needed the first & second time (we also use the demineralization cartridgeAir-o-swiss Aos Demineralization Cartridge- 7531 since we have well water), I have found that a good warm-water & brushing rinse does the trick. (The cleaning indicator light goes on every 2 weeks or so.) The 3rd time it goes on, we use the Cleaner/Descaler to great effect. What this comes down to is that a single 3-pack box lasts us through an entire season of use. Considering the cost of replacing these expensive but great humidifiers, I think this is pretty cost effective maintenance. In short, I'm not one to waste money (don't have it to burn, do you?), but I consider this akin to changing the oil in my car. This should help keep your AOS humidifier (or any brand, I suppose) running in tip top condition. Money well spent, from my perspective.

Still best solution to keep humidifiers clean

I’ve looked for best solutions to keep humidifiers clean and have yet to find one that works better or is easier to use than this. I do find the price too high but it’s the same no matter where you try to buy it

Makes cleaning my AOS Humidifier a breeze!

I use EZ CAL to clean my Air-O-Swiss 7144 Ultrasonic Humidifier. This works perfectly if you use as directed and do not wait too long between cleanings. AOS recommends cleaning once every 2 weeks, more if you have hard water (and not necessary at all if you use gallons of bottled water). Each box of EZ CAL has 3 packets or 1.5 months worth of treatments based on normal water needs. Simply mix the pre-measured powder packet with 4 cups of hot water, stirring to dissolve. Let this mixture sit in the base for 30 min and then rinse base thoroughly. I find that I do not need to scrub the unit, but if you must, use a soft toothbrush and be very gentle around the rubber seals. Absolutely do NOT run the unit with this stuff in the base. The humidifier/filter model is already a racket but worth noting that using other cleaners besides EZ CAL will void the warranty of your AOS (and AOS claims can cause damage to your unit). I was lazy ...

I let my Air-O-Swiss AOS Ultrasonic Humidifier - 7135 go for over a year without using this product (I kept just forcing a reset on the clean). But as I want to move the humidifier into the nursery, my standards are much higher. It's not just about me anymore. So I put the main water tank into the dishwasher (and it came out squeaky clean). I scrubbed the base and then used EZCal. It says to soak for 30 minutes, but I left it there for an hour. The musty smell definitely went away and the base just seems a little cleaner/brighter. I'm now convinced that this product is worthwhile, and don't plan to be so lazy next time. I'm buying more and will set a calendar reminder to do this every 4-6 weeks. It's really not that big of a deal.

Highly overpriced citric acid!!

This product works, but it is a complete rip-off! You can buy a whole 2 lbs. bag of citric acid in powdered form (which is the only ingredient in Ez Cal A7417) for $15 here, on Amazon. I love my Boneco humidifier, but there's a certain limit to what is acceptable in terms of gouging. I will not pay for %400 markup for a brand name decalcifier.
