These are my go-to drawing pads
As any artist should, it’s hard to find a paper that’s worth drawing upon due to thickness, texture and ease of movement. Not to mention how well your pencil marks erase! I bought this one from Micheal’s a few years ago and I’m absolutely addicted. The texture and thickness is amazing, my pencil glides along the page, and it’s easy to erase if need be. It’s easy to blend and fill, too! My Fabricastle pens I use to define my lines before I color in don’t bleed through and the pads as a whole travel really well. They offer a steady surface, don’t curl or flex easily and overall an excellent product. I swear by them now!

Very Good Paper for Colored Pencil
I really like the Strathmore Colored Pencil paper. For several years I had been using their Bristol smooth for colored pencil drawing, having heard that was the paper for it. While it is ok, I couldn't get the results I had hoped for. Then I decided to take a class in colored pencil. Strathmore Colored Pencil paper was on the list of materials needed. WOW! I'm doing so much better now. This paper takes many, many layers of pencil and blending is easier than with the Bristol. It's a very reasonably priced creamy color, 100-lb paper. I have the 9 x 12" pad and recently bought the 6 x 8" pad. They are both wire bound...and I am having so much fun now with my art. I highly recommend it.

It's ok
The media could not be loaded. Bought this for my Son. He said the color pencils looks dull but the black and grey pencil works well in this book. He had used the pencils in another multimedia book and they were nice and vibrant. I enclosed the butterfly pic. But if he does another color in this book I'll post. Or you can check him out on ytube Psycho Mutant productions. He will be using this book.

Not convinced
I have tried this paper for the first time and it doesn't hold more than 3 layers of charcoal!!! I don't like that fact and the value is high for what it really is......

... paper surprised me because I thought it was really bad but I ended up liking it a lot
This paper surprised me because I thought it was really bad but I ended up liking it a lot. One important thing to remember is that this paper does not handle solvents. An artist on YouTube made a review about this paper and the artist was very unhappy. The artist tried using solvent to blend colored pencil but the paper ended up warping a lot and the worst part is that the paper did not go back completely flat. So if you would like to use solvent, try Mixed Media (or hot pressed watercolor paper). It’s suitable for colored pencil and solvent. To me, Strathmore Colored Pencil paper is nice. I don’t use solvent which is fine for me. The tooth of the paper is comparable to Canson XL Mix Media (in case if you want a good idea of how the tooth of the paper is like) but in my opinion Strathmore Colored Pencil Paper handles the job a lot better. I can layer so much to get a shade of color or make gradients. To me, Canson XL Mix Media feels like it stops taking in colored pencil. I struggle to fill in the tooth of the paper so I have to press harder just to fill in the tooth of the paper. But I don’t have to press hard on Strathmore Colored Pencil paper. I actually like the look of specs (tooth) on this paper when I color (shade) lightly with my colored pencils. My favorite thing about this paper is that (once you have enough colored pencil on the tooth of the paper) you can burnish to get a smooth blend and it looks really nice. Overall I like it so for layering and blending using colored pencils without the need for solvents. This paper is not for everybody, so I recommend you try a sample from Strathmore or from an arts and crafts store.

Excellent paper.
I'm just getting started with colored pencil art, and knew I needed better paper. This made the colors more vibrant and was great for adding layers. Will buy again.

When a great company like strathmore makes a paper exclusively for coloured ...
Expected a 400 series to be much thicker but disappointing to find this paper so thin. When a great company like strathmore makes a paper exclusively for coloured pencils it's bound to take up layers and hold good with erasures .... Unfortunately this paper is extremely thin and when you add layers it shows on the other side..... One advantage is that the surface is very smooth for color pencils and an even colouring is possible but it does not take layers well ..... I guess a 300 series or 400 series Bristol is definitely better for color pencil drawing
