Very easy and worked well!
I had one of those leaks around the seal so water was constantly running into the bowl. What a waste of money! I figured if the seal part was degraded after a long time, the other parts were probably next to go, so I ordered this complete kit. Since you have it apart anyway, might as well replace all the plastic pieces and rubber parts. It came with ALL the parts I needed (except a wrench and screwdriver) and was easy to do all by myself. I am kind of handy, but don't do plumbing too often. You have to take the tank completely off to replaceb the one seal between it and the bowl, so you will have to turn off the water and completely drain the tank to lift it off. I suppose you could skip that step if you really wanted to, but I just wanted to make sure everything was fresh and had a tight fit. I never hear a single noise from any leaking water anywhere. The tank fills in a different way with this kit, it has a little "L" shaped tube with holes spaced out in it that sits on the bottom of the tank. It is supposed to "shoot" the water out, effectively cleaning the slimy stuff from the bottom of your tank with every single flush. The instructions say that this is what makes the parts fail, but I imagine the rubber and plastic just get old no matter what. Still, it actually did keep the inside of the tank from looking so yucky (I checked after a few weeks.) However, I am not sure how many people really worry about what the inside of the tank of their toilet looks like! I am here buying another one for a different bathroom since it worked so well (and pretty simply) in my old toilet with no having to modify newer model parts. (even with a slightly curved tank.) Most parts are adjustable so it should be compatible with many models. If you do think your tank leaks into your bowl, you can check it by putting a few drops of food coloring into your tank, and if the water in the bowl changes color without flushing, you do. I figured that with that constant running I had now stopped, this product will pay for itself soon!

Flimsy construction, overpriced, prone to defects
It's a great idea, with really poor construction and at a very high price to the point where it seems intentional to cut costs. The parts are made of a flimsy thinned-walled bristle plastic that I can easily snap with my fingers. Aside from the fleamarket toy construction, I've encountered all kinds of problems. Let's start with the fill valve. Not only does it leak around the body of the valve but it will burst open, with parts flying off, when I try to close it. Upon inspection of the valve parts, there appears to be no damage, no nicks, no broken tabs on the retainer assembly. The parts are simply fitted loosely. And then there's the conical tank gasket (located on the under the tank where the water exits into the toilet)--are they kidding? Its tiny, really, really tiny and made of a soft foam material that easily collapses. I tried it anyway, and as expected water leaked onto the floor during a flush. So I ended up cleaning the old gasket and reusing it. Then, the toilet valve (the one that fills the tank) started acting up. It kept getting stuck for no apparent reason. I decided to have a look at the cam and arm assembly but could find no obstruction. It seems to be the needle like piston shaft that pushes downward (to shut off the main water flow) getting stuck halfway as if there was some sort of internal obstruction. After moving it a few times it seems to dislodge and works again until the next random failure. But the next day something even stranger began to happen. The blue rubber material of the flapper developed green spots on one side. I mean, seriously, this is ridiculous. I've never seen a flapper change colors, let alone overnight. When rubber or plastic change colors, it usually suggests that the material is deteriorating and/or undergoing some sort of chemical reaction is taking place. And let's keep in mind that the old flapper was still red and uniform in color. On the bright side, it is still working. The solution? There is no solution, except returning it and heading to a local plumbing supply which is I've always done in the past without problems. I don't even need to show the parts at the store because the standard kits fit perfectly.

Worked fine for a few months
I bought this kit to replace all the parts for an old toilet we have upstairs. All the parts went in fine and the unit worked without issues for a few months. The we went on vacation. When we returned I turned the water back on to the house and and flushed the toilets to make sure everything was fine (which they were). After a few days I noticed that the upstairs toilet would suddenly start running for a few seconds at a time. Then a few minutes later it would do it again. All through the night it would do this over and over again every few minutes. I replaced the flapper thinking that I had a slow leak. When that didn't work I pulled the valve back out and checked the seal which looked fine. I reseated it and that seemed to make the time between runs a bit longer. But it was still doing it after a week or so. I checked with a local plumbing supply and they recommended a different band called Korky's. I've replaced the valve in the upstairs bathroom and another one downstairs (which has a similar FluidMaster valve that also started running every few minutes) with these new Korky's units. So far after a few days I can report that the upstairs toilet no longer runs every few minutes (and it's quieter too!). After a few more weeks I'll report back on how these Korky's units have done over time. So far I'm impressed with the quality and the price.

It works.
It works well, easy to install. I gave 4 out of 5 stars because there was a part missing and I had to go to the store to buy it.
