The Last One of These
The last one of these I had lasted 7 years before it finally started leaking. It lasted 7 years because I only put it out when I knew it was going to rain. The previous one before that only lasted 2 years in the hot Texas sun before the markings faded and the tube turned yellow. I am glad this one is graduated in 10ths of an inch instead of 8ths of an inch like the last one. I thought I would just mount this on the same screws as my old one, but alas, they changed the spacing of the mounting holes and I had to reposition one of the screws. Not a big deal really.

Easy
Rain gauge that is easy to install and read the numbers. Have had more than one since I forget to empty in freezing weather and the plastic cracks. That is on me so I continue to order for me and my friends. I will continue to order for friends and family.

Best gauge I've found but still needs a warning...
We've tried several gauges of varying types and this one, bought here in 2017, was my favorite by far - stuck in a medium size pot of soil sitting on the patio outside the kitchen window, it makes for easy reading from inside. However, we've now learned the hard way that there's a precaution you have to take if you ever have freezing temps: We had an ice storm here in January, which I didn't even think about breaking the gauge until I realized after that it kept saying 1" of rain despite new rains happening ... I see Q&As now posted in the interim since I bought ours here with one suggestion from Tom Terry in 2019 that sounds reliable (as he learned to do it for a government job reading lots of gauges) and worth trying that will simply convert it from a 5" gauge to a 4" gauge: "Add some antifreeze then a thin layer of mineral oil to each gauge which equaled one inch on the gauge. Then i had no freezing and no evaporation between reading..." I was back here for the same one again and giving it still 5* even before seeing that advice but now I feel ready to get 10+ years out of it instead of five :-)

Plastic Yellows over time in Sun, very hard to read.
After about a year in Florida, out in my rose garden exposed, it does yellow to where you can not see through it. $5 plastic item and in Florida sun it is tough. So, just expect that.

Easy to see the water level
This is the second one that I have purchased. I forgot and left the other one out and the water froze and it cracked!

Big numbers
Nice and bright. Big enough numbers that can be read from inside the house.

Rain gauge
This is a replacement for one I had previously, and is virtually identical, including the magnification, which is extremely helpful. Will buy again in the future when needed.

Accurate and Stays Put
Even after a few years of sun fade, still can easily read it from a distance. Compares to local estimates of rainfall. Anchors deep and securely in soil. On my 3rd in 13 years, will not use any other one.

Rain Gauge
Very easy to read. I just hope it doesn't break where the screws hold it on when I take it off and on repeatedly to dump the water out of it.
