Nice for fish but be careful
I got this because I saw somewhere that this would lessen the fish smell when cooking fish. Well it does grill fish nicely but because of the vents there will still be smell and I didn't see a big difference from using a pan and lid on a stove to cook fish compared to this. Now one thing ! be careful when using this. The burners are on the top lid and bottom but there very little space between the burners and the stray where you lay the fish. One of the fish almost caught fire because it part of the fish touched the bottom burner. You need to watch it close and keep an eye on it. As for the product, this is nice and works well but not sure if I would spend the almost $200 I paid for this. Just use a pan with lid on stove.

Great way to cook fish without the mess and the smell
High points: • Better tasting fish due to direct heating from top and bottom in close proximity to the fish • Less smell due to full lid and vent with filter • Low smoke due to water tray to catch drippings • Works really well for oily fish like mackerel, salmon, black cod • Easy to disassemble and clean, no need to wipe down the kitchen afterwards Very easy to use. Fill the drip tray with some water, preheat the roaster, put the fish in for desired time and that’s it! The roaster has top and bottom heating elements so there isn’t as much of a need to turn the fish and risk breaking it up, but since you can only set a timer, not temperature, you may want turn to insure even cooking since the top heating element sits closer to the fish than the bottom one. I have never had an issue with flareups like one of the reviewers, but I don’t apply a lot of oil or marinades to my fish – maybe that was the cause. Since it is fully lidded with only a small vent with a filter at the top, very little of fish smell comes out of the unit unlike cooking it over the stove. I normally put the unit on a cookie sheet on the stove and turn on the range hood. Any fish smell coming out of the vent goes right out of the house. Clean up is really easy. The bottom tray, drip pan and grill pulls away from the heating element and the base so you can carry it to the sink and wash it. The top comes apart similar to the bottom but has a few more latches to remove the individual pieces. The heating elements can be wiped down after they cool. I clean mine after each use so it still looks as good as new after owning it for 2 years. I’m not sure what some of these other people do to theirs for it to rust. . . Very happy with the purchase. It allowed me to enjoy cooking and eating fish again.

Beautiful and Cooks Perfectly with no Smoke
This is a beautiful appliance. Easy to use and cooks food perfectly. Pay attention to the packaging notes when opening up. They show where tape is to be removed when unpacking. They do a great job of packing and explaining things. I cooked Salmon the first night. I added lemon olive oil and spices. No skin or bones. I set the timer for 12 minutes. It was thick salmon. Turned out excellent! Very moist. Make sure water is added to the plastic tray when using. Next night boneless/skinless chicken breasts. Set the timer for 15 minutes after first preheating for 2 minutes. Olive oil and spices. Best chicken breasts I’ve ever made. Moist with a slight crisp on both sides. Cooked to perfection. No pink. This is one impressive appliance. It has made me set my air fryer to the back of the counter. I also own a Zojirushi Rice Cooker. I am very impressed with their products. There are no temperature settings on this roaster but it doesn’t seem to make a difference in cooking. Tonight I will try steak but I will set the timer less then the suggested setting so I will get a red center. This item is easy to clean. Wipe the burners off after it cools down so you won’t get any smoke. Which, by the way, there was absolutely none! Besides the first heating out of the package. There is also no odors. Everything comes apart for cleaning and the spatula that comes with it is genius! This is a keeper.

No more kitchen odor
Definitely worth it. Kitchen is cooler than if using the oven. The appliance would be perfect if the rack were non-stick. It's easy to clean. Important to remember to pour water in first! The purpose of buying this was to encourage more eating of fish (as opposed to red meat), and it is working. I recommend it.

Botton pan rusts each time use, it gets worse. Major design flaws
I dislike it. I loved the fish grill from National for 20 years and all our family members also own one from National in their house hold. However, I am disappointed by the Zojirushi fish grill. First of all, I could not believe that the machine started to rust within a month of the purchase. You need to empty and wash up the water pan after each use for the fish smell and it does not work since it rusts more and more each time. I also disliked the way the customer service handled the case. They told me to spend another $39 plus tax for the replacement and they also said it is completely harmless because there is no direct food contact with the rust and the fish. The fish gets cooked by air circulation inside of the grill, how can they be so confident? When I receive the Zojirushi fish grill by mail, I saw the sign the product warning for cancer cause in CA, I should have returned it. This product is made in China. The machine looks bulky and compare to National Panasonic fish grill, this is NO. With the price, they should make a better product. Fish grill is ok but I want Japanese made ZOJIRUSHI since it is Japanese brand. It is a shame.

If it was easier to clean, I would have given it a 5 star...
This product is really good for grilling fish. It is not smokeless or order free, however. Oil from the fish will catch fire and start smoke and stink up your kitchen. Cleaning is NOT easy. It always takes me 15 minutes to cook the fish and then 30 minutes to clean the roaster. And you MUST clean after each use; therefore, you cannot roast more than one serving. For one meal, it works, but for one meal with more than 4 adults to feed, it would be a disaster. I really wanted to like this roaster and I do (if I don't have to clean it), but it is too much pain to clean it each time. Also, you cannot control the temperature other than just using the timer. In conclusion, if you love cleaning instead of eating, you should get this roaster. If you hate cleaning and just love eating, don't waster your money and stick to conventional electric toaster/broiler.

Amazing!
Zojirushi products are amazing! I love the roaster I used it for salmon and it comes out very crispy. Also did Yakitori and it was amazing. A bit pricing compared to what is sold in Japan. But I love it easy to clean and use as well. No smoke or no smell.

Great fish roaster!
This fish roaster does wonders! Works well and there is very little smell of fish in the house after cooking! The product is pricey, however you get what you paid for: a great roaster that will cook the fish to perfection!
