My cat loves it
Before this, I was cooking sushi rice in a pressure cooker. The pressure cooker took maybe 15 minutes to make "rice", while this mama jama takes 40 or 60 minutes to make a steaming hot cup of you know what. The pressure cooker consistently made aldente, overly sticky, and sometimes watery rice. My cat hated it, so I brought it to a priest, and he hated it too. So I prayed, and the Lord said, "Child, givith to me an entire week's paycheck. And in return, I will give you yum." And after 2 swift days, I received the rice machine and a 4 year protection plan. Amen. Come the following week when I could afford rice again, my entire life changed. I stopped using Baton rice (which I can't help but feel was an improvement), and the pressure cooker was never used again. This rice cooker makes perfect rice EVERY TIME. I never liked plain white rice, and now I'm scared because of how much I like it. I've made a pot of rice every day since I got it, and every time the entire batch it evenly cooked, nicely tender, and the perfect amount of sticky. My cat loves it and so does my rabbi. I am aware it can be used for other purposes, but I have more faith in this rice cooker than my parents will ever have in me. So I say, go bananas! If you have a few extra bucks and some extra time, I would recommend.

WE EAT SO MUCH RICE NOW
I bought this because we needed to replace my terrible single temp rice cooker. It was one of those cheap college student appliances, and I really just wanted a rice cooker that sang to me. This doesn't have a slow cooker function like the big boys do, but I have a small galley kitchen, so I can't buy the gigantic one. I've literally never had any problems with any kind of rice. This works for literally any kind of rice. It keeps the rice warm, almost hot for several hours. So I sometimes make rice at breakfast and eat the rest at lunch if I'm feeling lazy. It also has steelcut oatmeal, quinoa and CAKE functions. I've not cooked any of those, but I'm definitely interested in a cake out of this bad boy. It comes with a pretty detailed instruction manual including some recipes. Cleaning is easy, the little bowl is non-stick, so just wait for it to cool, wash it like you would any other non-stick pan and put it back in for storage. The top of the lid is also removable and should be cleaned after every use. It comes with its own rice scoop and rice cup. Do not use any other cup, and don't use an actual measuring cup, because this thing is NOT a full cup. It's roughly 3/4 cup, so if you are the sort to misplace stuff in your kitchen, either buy another one (they're about $8) or just use 3/4 cup as your measurement until you find the right one. Also use the measurement in the bowl, it's there for a reason. You don't have to make this complicated, ignore the directions on the bag, use the bowl. Once it cools, make sure to wipe out any rice that escaped from the bowl, because it will burn. It takes about half an hour after you turn it off to be fully cool to the touch. And yes, it does sing to you when you turn it on, and when it's done, there's a different song. You cannot change it. Listen to the song of the rice cooker. Love the song of the rice cooker. Do a little dance when it sings, and eat rice.

Zojirushi has never let me down
Bought used from Amazon warehouse, was like new except missing the measuring cup mentioned in the owner's manual. I use it to make brown rice, about 1/2 cup per day. Timer function is nice so it has time to soak and is fresh when I want to eat it. Downside is that it seems to have relatively long cook times (want to say it's 90 min for brown and 45 min for white). Makes a nice little sponge cake too, that takes about 50 minutes to bake on cake setting. Small quantity of rice tends to dry out, so I toss a little water in and use the reheat function to bring it back to life after a few hours. Also add vegetables after the rice is done cooking, use same reheat function, for a quick lunch. Overall, nice for a regular rice eater, worth the price as it works well and used frequently.

The size is perfect
I really like the size of this rice cooker as I am living alone, the small size makes it easy for me to clean it after every use. The overall quality is good, or just like what I anticipated on something from Zojirushi. The instruction gives general information on the volume of water needed for different kind of rice grains, but even the same kind of rice from different brands or batches requires a specific optimization on the water volume. After testing, this rice cooker now makes perfect rice for me.

Finally splurged and bought it.
This rice cooker is worth the money. Used this dozens of times now and never had a problem. Perfect rice without scorching even if you forget the fluff the rice after cooking.

It's a damn good rice cooker. read the instructions thoroughly because it has some things that are different. I love the cake feature and I will be trying it out. I have banana cake ideas.

Rice always perfect
Although a bit pricey, this rice cooker is worth the money. I use it several times a week and the rice is always perfect. Everything cooks evenly with no mushy or hard-burned sections. The cooker automatically goes into warm mode after cooking and the rice stays tender and fluffy for hours. This is a smaller model and is great for 1-4 people. Families might want the larger version. It looks good on my counter and I just keep it out. I would buy again.

Solid cooker
The Zojirushi 612252-NL-BAC05SB rice cooker is an excellent product that looks great and feels solid. Its compact size makes it perfect for small kitchens or for those who want to save counter space. Perfectly cooked rice
I have used several times now, in the short time we've owned it, all with great success. It is incredibly easy to operate. The results are perfect. The body of the machine feels solid, the bowl is quite thick, the water levels are shown very legibly for the type & amount of rice. The whole unit very easy to clean. I did purchase The Best of the Best Rice Cooker Cookbook by Beth Hensberger for more recipes ideas & tips. I would recommend especially for a couple or a small family. It has a small footprint which is a real bonus when space is at a premium. I may purchase another to have at the summer cabin as we will miss this small appliance. Overall, I am vey pleased with my purchase although I originally balked at the price, I am glad I went ahead with the purchase.

Easy to use
Our old Sanyo rice cooker died after 27 years, so decided to upgrade to this model. What a difference the old one only had one setting and keep warm, this cooks different rice and grains very well. The sushi setting is great, we are now rolling and forming our own. It came on time and was well packaged. It also looks good.

It’s amazing!
I specifically searched for this smaller model, because it’s pre-programmed to handle “long grain” white rice (which is what we eat most), and steel cut oats, which is another favorite. You literally set it and forget it. It plays a cute little song when it’s ready, and it keeps everything piping hot for hours. I left my rice in the reheat cycle for 10 hours, tasting it at various points along the way from the time it was ready… and it was amazing!! Perfect even after holding it hot for my husband to then take his serving when he was hungry for it. I love it.

Small but mighty
This thing is honestly fantastic. Everything that I've made in it has turned out absolutely perfect and it is incredibly easy to use. As a 23 year old with a pretty moderate income, this was definitely a splurge but was well worth it. One of the biggest appeals is the size as most high-end rice cookers are huge which would have been a hassle in our small apartment. This guy is a totally reasonable size and it makes the perfect amount for me and my boyfriend and can hold enough for a couple more servings if we have guests or want leftovers. We eat a lot of curries, grain bowls, and rice in general, and I didn't fully realize how much I was missing out on by not having great rice to go with them until I got this. My old black & decker rice cooker was always hit or miss and would often leave parts half cooked while others were burned. The guides and settings on this model guarantee that nothing will go wrong. I have yet to try the quick cooking setting as I'll usually out rice on before I start cooking and the timing lines up great so the longer cook times aren't an issue for me. Brown rice, white sticky rice, basmati, and the absolutely AMAZING Japanese cheesecake recipe that this comes with all came out restaurant-quality. Highly recommend snagging this for an amazing rice cooker for one or two people, especially if it's available as a warehouse deal or on discount like mine was.

very good but pricey
There is a lot of hype about these computerized rice cookers. I am no expert on cooking rice but my wife is asian and very picky about her rice lol. Makes really good rice and she seems to like it too. It definitely has a different texture. Anyways we like it even though the machine is pretty expensive.
