Fabulous
So I am a good southern country cook....however the ability to make good rice escapes me. I've tried multiple ways and even bought an aroma rice maker....when I fix it on the stove it's mushy and in the aroma rice maker it burns or it burns and ends up mushy. I've always followed the directions perfectly but I'm cursed lol. I heard that this was the best brand and that making rice in it was idiot proof so I figured I'd give it a try. There are so many recipes that I can cook the meat and veggies perfectly for but the rice always ruins the dish. So I decided it was worth it to shell out some money for a premium appliance if it would greatly expand my home cooking abilities. I really wanted to test it so I used plain white rice (the cheapest brand available) because I have several different kinds varying in quality due to my past failures with rice. I figured if it can make good tasting rice out of the lowest quality rice then it was a keeper. Man was I impressed! I didn't do anything other than rinse the rice and put the amount of water in it required. I even forgot about it (luckily it automatically went to keep warm). It is fluffy and the texture is better than even a Chinese restaurant. I added some salt and ate a whole bowl. I usually don't eat plain white rice without meat, veggies, or sauce but it was that good. The second bowl I added some Mr. Yoshida's gourmet sauce and it was to die for. There's no burnt pieces, it's not mushy, and no clumps. I'm in love. So my advice if you are on the fence....get it. I am still in disbelief that I could make rice like this at home especially so easily. You do not have to babysit this machine and the rice will still come out perfect.

zojirushi timer not accurate
this is my second zojirushi rice cooker. I loved the one I had for 30 years, it work well all these years until I needed a replacement pot after years of cooking for the family. Unfortunately Zojirushi had no replacement insert pot to purchase. Everything about the pot especially the timer work accurately. I was somewhat disappointed that my new zojiruchi cooker was not accurate time wise. I liked the more precised time because I would know exactly when my rice will be cooked to time it with meals. Other than the time factor the rice cooker makes good rice. One more thing. The Gaba feature for brown rice and regular brown rice, we found that less water was needed than the designated line. We usually fill just below the water line. So for 3 cups of brown we put the water at 2 1/2 and that is how we prefer it. Otherwise it is to wet for our liking. We are careful to take care of the inner pot as directed because these cookers last a long time and Zojiruchi may not have replacement inner pots.

Best rice maker to date
If I hear my husband say “have I told you how much I love my new rice maker” one more time I will scream ????. We have tried many machines but this one is the best. We love the cooking of our Japanese rice, a true Japanese rice we purchase at a Japanese food store nearby, and we love our oatmeal. The only thing I was sorry to realize is that this machine is made in china and not Japan. I refuse to buy Chinese these days and prefer to buy other Asian products but I was too late to return the product that my husband started to use right after it’s arrival. I was going to buy several other Zojirushi products like a new coffee maker but now I don’t trust what I read. Too bad.

Description is Misleading
Update: They refunded my purchase and I am on the hunt for a machine that steams and makes perfect rice. Zojirushi machines are amazing and I will stick with them, I just need one with a nice sized steamer basket to do more one pot cooking (which is needed during the sports season). Original Review: I read the description carefully to make sure this had all the features I wanted, before I purchased this rice cooker. I wanted it to play the jingle, which I would happily live without, but it would have been nice and fun for the kids too. The steamer basket is the real kicker for me. I saw no picture of the steaming basket, just that in the description it says there was one. Once I got it I thought it was missing. I reached out and they told me what was called the "extra large steam vent" in the manual, was the steaming basket. So I can now steam 2 carrots for my family of 5. I reached back out again to say that I am upset with my purchase because calling that a steaming basket is ridiculous but also very misleading. No one ever got back to me. I have now purchased a silicone steamer that does not work well with my zojirushi, and since I tried it, I can't return it. Anyhow if I'd have known this rice cooker didn't have the features that would make cooking easiest, I would have purchased a different model. Overall I think the rice cooker does an amazing job. I just wish I was able to steam meat and veggies, and make this more of a one pot deal for easy clean up. Because of the missing basket, I am still cooking meat in the pressure cooker, and veggies in the microwave or on the stove. Not quite the easy clean up I had in mind when purchasing.

It is fantastic. And so easy to clean. My husband says the rice is great. I have only had it one week so I cannot say if it holds up a long time. But my goodness how easy to cook rice.

Versatile rice cooker - every grain cooked to perfection!
Love that this makes the best rice and have so many other grain options. Cooked white rice and steel cut oats - both turned out great and consistent. Looking forward to cooking quina and congee next! Only wish is that there’s a spatula holder attached to the cooker.
