Seems to have one drawback.
The product seems to be of good quality. It is made of good material & appears to be heavy duty. The adjustment screw, at the back, does not adjust sufficiently to allow a soft final closure. This allows the door to bang shut. Hence the four star rating, instead of five.

Heavy Duty
I tried others like this one and they wouldn't hold my security door open, or I needed 2 hands to stop the door. Others would sometimes, but broke frequently. I decided to try this one. It's excellent. Hoping it will hold longer than 5 months. Fingers crossed.

Replaced an OEM with this unit
Not as "heavy duty" as you'd expect based on the description. I replaced an OEM cylinder with this one on my back door. The mounts supplied with this unit are obviously of a lighter weight/grade then OEM. The cylinder itself is a tad longer, which meant I had to relocate the mounts. Not a big deal..... BUT... and important thing to note is the "button" on this cylinder protrudes. What this means is that unless you pay very close attention to the locating the mounts, the "button" will contact the inner door, and block the "storm" door from closing. In my case, I have steel siding/trim on my house..... I was forced to relocate the door frame mount, which meant drilling extra holes in the steel trim.... and when that wasn't enough, I was forced to drill more holes in the mount in order to make everything work.

Fit right on the door as a replacement
Our old closer got damaged. We put them on using the old mounting bracket as a time-saving hack. This is an upgrade though that it holds the door open. Love it!

Excellent door closer.
Product worked perfectly, connected to my existing brackets. Install took 3 minutes. My storm door now closes smoothly and securely, without a bang. It has an easy to use push button holder, which holds the door open to whichever degree you choose, not like those sliding ones that never work. I highly recommend this closer.

Very bulky which prevents door from closing
Get a door closer with the latch on top, not the side. Installed per the instructions and the storm door won't close when the front door is closed.

Easy Replacement on Larsen Door from Lowes.
The "standard-duty" closers that came with my Larsen storm door performed differently when the windows were open anywhere in the house. "Heavy-duty" fixed the problem. My concerns about fit into the existing setup were unfounded. I Pulled out the 2 retaining rivets with a plier and the old closer came out. The new closer fit perfectly into the existing hardware and the two rivets lined up with the holes. I don't usually have this kind of luck!

Easy Replacement - But Unit Failed
I have a substantial security "screen" security door (heavy metal frame, perforated plate screen, and a design panel) which I had installed about 10 years ago. It came with a hold open closer which was failing (popping, cracking on close; not closing as well as it did). Of the several choices offered, I took a chance on the cheapest one. It was a direct replacement for the one I had - just needed to pull the two end pins, take the old one out, put this new one in, replace the pins, and adjust the closing screw on the end, done. After taking this easy route, I did elect to change the door jamb bracket but the new bracket used the same holes so just remove the screws, swap the bracket, replace the screws. Nice when a 5 minute job really does take about 5 minutes. It has been in place for several weeks and so far so good. Hope it lasts 10 years like the one it replaced. Update 13OCT19: Downgraded to one star. Would have downgraded to 0 if I could. Unit failed TWO days after the return window closed. Amazon Customer Service was nice enough to give me a "store" credit for part of the cost of this closer but really frosts my cookies to have the thing fail. How did it fail? Opened the door to the max allowed by this closer - maybe 75 or 80 degrees (you can never get to 90 unless you take any closer off - my experience anyway) - and when I went to release by pushing the door further open, the closer was locked. Could not open the door that last 1/2 inch to allow the closer to disengage. This particular closer has notches on the rod (much like an old time bumper jack or some jack stands) rather like a smooth rod like the one it replaced and the one I replaced this one with.

Calidad aceptable
