Non-Obvious Adjustment
What isn't obvious until your think about it (and/or look at the website) is that a critical adjustment is the distance between the mounting point on the door jam and the door itself, i.e., the amount that the piston is extended when the door is fully closed. They give you a number of ways of performing the adjustment (the front and back holes on the piston at the door mounting point; where you mount the bracket on the door itself; the multiple holes in the bracket on the door itself) but basically there is an air piston that slows the travel when the door is closing AND a spring within the piston that is pulling the door closed. When I mounted the piston with no tension whatsoever on it with the door closed, it was tricky to get the door to close well. Moving the door mount point an inch away from the hinge (tensioning the spring) allowed me to get the door to close fully and rapidly with no slam when the door was opened fully, but when opened slightly the door would slam. Changing the adjustment to half an inch makes the door "bounce" and close when the door was opened fully, and there was still some stopping power when the door was opened slightly so it does not slam. This is how I left it. No matter what I do, I cannot get it to perform when may main door is both open and closed due to the air pressure of the seals. No comment yet regarding durability because I've had it a week. The hold feature is nice and I like it.

Great door closer - better than I expected!
I bought this Touch'N Hold Door Closer to replace a similar door closer on my storm door. I had liked that product and therefore tried to find the most similar one to it (I can't find a brand on the former closer, which came with our house, so I can't say for sure what type it was). I just installed this closer about a week ago and I'm absolutely in love. I'm going to buy another to replace the non-broken one on the other storm door in our house. Here's why: 1. Great touch-button. Much, much easier to use than my former closer's button. This one doesn't depress into a little well like that one did -- it stays popped up above the closer, so it's easy to tap and seems less likely to break or twist (which is what happened to the other one). 2. Very quiet pneumatics. A gentle hiss sound when it's closed and that's it. 3. Installed right over the old closer's footprint. This was a tight one, as this closer is just a touch shorter even when fully extended (by about 1/2 inch), but I didn't have to drill any new holes, and the hardware matched up well. Even if you needed to drill holes, you'll only need to drill 6 holes and they shouldn't be too difficult as the size of the screws isn't insane. 4. Adjustable speed for closing. This is essential in a house with a baby who is woken up by slamming doors! Works great. A few caveats: 1. I never like the included wood screws for things like this, which seem to strip easily. I usually have a container of better screws that I swap out for projects like this so that I knew they won't strip. 2. Measure twice, drill once -- unless you want unsightly holes in your door, make sure you know how far open you want it to swing, and where you want the hardware to attach.

Not only clever, but it works
This is the fourth or fifth time I have purchased this door closer for screen or storm doors for front and back screen/storm doors in different houses. I had one fail when a child pushed the door open so hard that the Touch'n Hold closer jammed in the open position. I replaced it with the more expensive, easily adjustable soft-closing version that proved totally inadequate. I could adjust it just so and get it to close smoothly and quietly, but a few uses later, it would close to within a few inches and stop, so quietly that no one noticed until the mosquitos got in. The V1345 is also adjustable, with some effort, but you set it and forget it. The door closes properly each time, and I actually appreciate the louder "click" that lets me know it's closed and latched. It is necessary to instruct people who need the hold-open feature that it releases with a simple outward push on the door. Otherwise, they reach up and squeeze the hold button again and again with no result. That's rare, however, because I'm almost always the one bringing in the groceries or suitcases and appreciate it every time I finish and just give the door a slight shove with an elbow and let it close behind me.

Already sticks when you try to release it from the open position. Just two weeks old

Perfect fit to my door. Easy to press button with my foot and it holds the door well.

Perfect solution to screen door problems
This unit handles both of the problems with screen doors perfectly. It not only closes the door tight without slamming but is adjustable for speed of closing. The hold open feature works exactly as it should for ease of use. The infinite opening position stop works perfectly in a range from moving item through the door to holding it just open slightly for air access. It will hold all the way to 90 degrees, despite what has been written, if installed properly.

Not working for me
The media could not be loaded. This isnt working for my door. The door still bangs. Took effor to install it and all went in vain. The hold funtion works and releases too but the door still bangs instead if slowing down at closure.
